Chapter 89: Chapter 85: Demon
"Who’s there!?"
The sound of shattering tempered glass alerted the Spiritualist Followers inside the Dragon Heaven Building. A dozen or so individuals possessing sequence energy rushed out, nearly all of them Tier One Sequencers.
But before these Tier One Sequencers could even react to what was happening,
tens of thousands of densely packed white threads filled their vision, slashing into their bodies on a whistling Gale!
CRACK... CRACK...!
The first two who rushed out were too slow to react. They were pierced through by a net of white threads, instantly reduced to chunks of flesh that scattered across the ground.
It was as if a piece of pork had been placed on a cutting board and diced into perfect little cubes by a master chef.
Their bodies, too, had been turned into chunks, and a massive amount of blood instantly gushed out, leaving two large, crimson pools on the ground.
This caused the expressions of the Spiritualist Followers who arrived a moment later to change drastically. Many of them simply turned, screamed, and fled, not daring to face Su Xing head-on.
Many of them had merely heard about the "Spiritual Qi recovery" and, having no talent for the Sequences, no desire to study or practice martial arts, and no path to immortal cultivation, had gone astray and joined the Spiritual Sect.
Most of these followers had only participated in a few "unclean rites," and their sense of belonging to the Spiritual Sect wasn’t that deep yet.
Therefore, when faced with an opponent they could not possibly defeat, fear completely took over. Only one person, who seemed deeply indoctrinated, went against the crowd and roared:
"For my Lord!"
As his roar echoed, he lunged toward Su Xing, his body radiating the aura of a Tier Two Sequencer.
But before he could even reach Su Xing, Su Xing lashed out with a sudden kick. His right foot, covered by the "White Blade" technique, directly slashed the man’s head into smithereens!
Blood and white fluid splattered all over the ceiling and walls of the Dragon Heaven Building’s reception area.
None of the other fleeing Spiritualist Followers could escape Su Xing’s grasp. The Dragon Heaven Building was, after all, an enclosed space. No matter how fast they ran, could they possibly outrun Su Xing’s white threads?
It had to be said, although the white threads could no longer keep up with Su Xing’s combat level, they were still perfect for slaughtering chickens.
Even the fastest-running Spiritualist Follower only made it less than six meters before their head was sliced off by a white thread. Blood sprayed onto the ceiling like a fountain, and the headless corpse crashed heavily to the ground.
Su Xing himself hadn’t moved an inch,
but not a single living Spiritualist Follower remained before him.
Su Xing had cleanly slaughtered every last person with sequence energy in their bodies, leaving none alive. He had no intention of showing mercy.
Su Xing knew he was here to pull the problem out by its roots. He couldn’t let anyone related to the Spiritual Sect slip away and report intelligence about him to their superiors.
The people outside watched as person after person was decapitated, blood spraying wildly as if it had a life of its own.
These few onlookers turned deathly pale. Although they had grown accustomed to life after the Spiritual Qi recovery was announced, and some had even watched the Corpse High Priest video more than ten times,
a video was just a video. Seeing such a scene unfold right before their eyes still made their hearts pound with terror.
Most importantly, these people had no idea why this man in a black trench coat, his face obscured by a hat, was going on a killing spree.
"Are... are all those people dead...?"
A young couple was among them. The girl, wearing a choker, was clinging to the man. She felt her teeth chattering uncontrollably as fear consumed her entire being.
’We just came out for a bit of excitement, how could we run into something like this?’ The more she thought about it, the more terrified she became. She wanted nothing more than to leave, but her legs were so weak she could only let her boyfriend hold her up, lacking any strength to leave on her own.
"They... probably aren’t. There were so many of them. How could they all be dead?"
Her boyfriend stared intently at Su Xing, his inner thoughts unreadable.
But he continued to comfort his girlfriend, even though he knew perfectly well that all those people were already dead.
He watched Su Xing’s figure disappear from view, his body trembling uncontrollably—not from fear, but from a strange excitement. A sudden impulse to follow surged within him, causing him to slap himself across the face as he cursed himself internally:
’Why am I so curious about watching a murder...?’
Just then, a sudden explosion boomed from within the Dragon Heaven Building, followed by the piercing ring of a sword. Mixed in were countless CRACKs of bones and flesh being severed.
Screams of pain, pleas for mercy, crying, breakdowns, the thud of heads kowtowing—all sorts of sounds poured endlessly from the Dragon Heaven Building.
The sound of the explosion seemed to vanish. At first, there were still one or two sounds of resistance, but after a few seconds, the entire first floor of the Dragon Heaven Building was like a black hole, swallowing any sound that entered without a trace.
Only a dead silence remained...
The man watching from outside felt his heart pound with terror, but at the same time, he felt an unbearable, itching curiosity.
He carried his girlfriend to a chair set out by an old man who was preparing to sell breakfast. Then, he draped his jacket over her to prevent her from being exposed and said:
"I’m going in to take a look."
"Hey! Don’t go! It’s dangerous, what are you going in there for!?"
His girlfriend grabbed his right arm, but he just shook her off, waved his hand, and yelled back:
"Don’t worry, I’ll be right back!"
As he stepped into the Dragon Heaven Building, the unusually thick stench of blood assaulted his nostrils, making him want to vomit instantly.
He forced down the nauseating feeling and crept cautiously deeper inside, one small step at a time.
He was curious, but he was also afraid of provoking the man. If that man decided to slaughter him too, it would be a pointless end. So, he took each step with extreme caution.
Step by step, he made his way into the depths of the Dragon Heaven Building.
When he saw the scene before him, he froze in place. Headless corpses were strewn everywhere, lying in disarray.
The ceilings, floors, and walls were all splattered with blood and glistening white brain matter. The metallic stench in the air was so thick it made his vision blur.
There were at least thirty bodies here, not a single one of them intact.
Some were missing heads, others were missing vital organs. Some people had even been cleaved in two, their intestines and viscera hanging from their already-cold corpses.
Faced with such a bloody, tragic sight, even he couldn’t hold it in any longer. He leaned his right hand against the wall and began to vomit.
After retching for a while, he finally noticed a staircase not far away, completely covered in blood. ’The man must have taken the stairs to the second floor,’ he thought.
With this thought, he quickly waded through the pools of blood and followed Su Xing’s path upward. At the top of the stairs, he finally caught sight of the man’s back.
The man was holding a Black Sword. He slowly pushed open the entrance to the second floor, like a demon from Hell knocking on the gates of the mortal world.
