Chapter 83: Chapter 80: Hot Search 2
After Li Yu finished taking the report, he looked at what he had written and slowly read it aloud:
"So, you’re saying... you came to pick up your mother, but as soon as you arrived at the station, you saw an old man killing people at the entrance. Then he noticed you and wanted to take you down too, but he was afraid the ordinary people behind you would run away, so he just collapsed the entire train station with a few punches... After that, a mysterious expert appeared and saved you."
"Did you see his face?"
Li Yu asked casually, his pen still scribbling in a small notebook. Hearing this, Lu Anning just shook her head and said she hadn’t seen anything. This was more or less what Li Yu had expected. He didn’t press the matter, simply putting away his notebook and asking:
"Is your mother still on the train?"
"Yes, my mom keeps complaining to me, asking why the train has stopped."
Lu Anning took out her phone, opened her messenger app, and showed it to Li Yu. A look of apology crossed Li Yu’s face as he said:
"This was a failure on our part. Don’t worry, you’ll be able to get your mother and go home together soon."
Watching Li Yu walk aside to make a call on his phone, Lu Anning suddenly felt a little relieved. ’It seems this man, Li Yu, didn’t realize I can already cut the white line.’
’This way... at least for now, I don’t have to worry about whether or not to join their organization.’
Just as Li Yu finished speaking and was about to step aside to make a call, a spatial rift suddenly tore open beside him.
Veins bulging and covered in bits of flesh, Liu Chang stepped out of the spatial rift. His eyes were filled with rage. He glanced at the ruined train station, his voice laced with annoyance as he said:
"Damn it, I’m late again."
Ever since he broke through to the fourth rank, this was the second mission that had gone wrong. The most infuriating part was that the enemy had used the exact same method to hold him back both times.
They would send a zombie to fight him in close combat, then use that white orb to lock down the space. It left Liu Chang completely helpless, with no choice but to pound the zombie into paste.
Still, there was one thing to be happy about. As soon as he landed, he saw that the Corpse High Priest had already been turned into a pile of gore. This meant no more zombies would be sent to annoy him in the future.
But his happiness didn’t last long. Li Yu’s voice drifted over from the side:
"Your timing is perfect."
"Even though your last mission had issues, we need you for this one. Go. Get all those ordinary people out from underground."
"..."
...
Su Xing had a dream, but the details were already growing hazy.
But he could clearly remember standing, covered in wounds, on a barren hill. All around him was flowing blood, scattered pieces of flesh, and body after body of figures dressed in the robes of the Spiritual Sect.
These Spiritual Sect vermin seemed endless, as if they could never all be killed. They charged forward one after another, bravely rushing to their deaths, all to kill him.
Behind them stood a man with purple hair.
And then, the moment he saw this purple-haired man, the dream abruptly ended. With no warning at all, Su Xing was awake.
He groggily picked up his phone to check the time. A long list of trending topics filled the screen, but Su Xing’s gaze was fixed on the time.
8:30 in the morning.
’I actually slept for so long.’ He usually woke up around six, but today he’d slept in for an extra two hours.
Su Xing muttered this to himself as he got out of bed.
He felt more refreshed than ever, like an insomniac who had suddenly slept for a full day and night. The feeling of vigor was indescribably pleasant.
Su Xing grabbed a short-sleeved shirt and threw it on. He walked a few steps to the bathroom to wash up, and when he came out, he noticed a cold breakfast sitting on the table. It must have been bought some time ago. Beside it was a small note, written in small, neat handwriting.
Coach Su, I went out with Su Yu and Sister Shen to get breakfast this morning. We saw you were still asleep, so we brought a portion back for you~
PS: I was able to pick up my mom yesterday. The special organization handled everything very cleanly; my mom doesn’t seem to have noticed anything unusual. (It’s amazing, they restored the station with just a wave of their hands.)
After reading the little note from Lu Anning,
Su Xing picked up the breakfast from the table and started eating.
It was an egg pancake. Even though it was cold, it still tasted pretty good. Su Xing finished the whole thing in just a few bites and then remarked with a sigh:
"Lu still doesn’t understand my appetite."
Although Su Xing could replenish his energy with his Spirit Sword and didn’t actually need to eat to stave off hunger, if you were going to eat, you might as well eat your fill. And who could be satisfied with a single egg pancake?
In the past, Su Xing would order steamed buns by the dozen. A single egg pancake really wasn’t enough.
But Su Xing didn’t dwell on it. After finishing the pancake, he headed straight for the training hall.
Perhaps because Su Xing had woken up late, both Lu Anning and Shen Ruyun had already returned to their rooms. Only Su Yu was in the training hall, sitting with his eyes closed, basking in the sun.
Hearing footsteps behind him, he turned to look at Su Xing and said:
"Bro, have you seen the news?"
"The news?"
Su Xing repeated the word, confused. He then suddenly remembered the long list of trending topics he’d seen when checking the time, and said:
"Haven’t had a chance to look yet. What’s going on?"
