Chapter 375: What The Hell...
"Then what are we waiting for?"
Gray let out a sigh before offering his hand to Mara. It’s already close to 4 in the afternoon, so they gotta rush if they want to successfully go today.
"Let’s go?"
"Let’s go." Mara triumphantly smiled before accepting his hand.
The two of them stood up and immediately left the office to go to the safe’s place. They didn’t want to waste any time.
They booked a cab to the place. The ride didn’t take too long, because the place was located just within the city. When Gray realized it, he couldn’t help but be amused.
’I thought the place would be on the outskirts or something out of the city.’ He shook his head. But when he thought about it, why would Alistair even go to those kinds of places?
This was better since the safe was secured anyway in a bank. Alistair’s lawyer already told him that they have tipped off the bank about Gray. The safe was named after a different person.
Eventually, the car slowed to a stop in front of a well-known bank.
Gray stepped out of the cab after paying for it. His eyes lifted to take in the building in front of them.
The bank had tall glass panels that reflected the city lights. The entrance was wide and guarded by uniformed security personnel. After a few seconds, Mara also stepped out. She brushed a strand of her hair behind her ear as she glanced up.
"We’re really in front of this bank," she muttered in awe.
They were in front of ABC Universal Bank. It was the bank where Gay got his card from the system. The bank was known to only deal with the richest people. Their clients only include the wealthy, politicians, and well-known figures in different fields.
"Do you think they would even welcome us there?" Mara whispered in a low voice beside him. Earlier, she was determined about it. But now, she felt small and a little scared that they wouldn’t even get entertained.
Gray glanced at her and chuckled. He shook her head lightly, "What are you even scared of? The lawyer already informed them about it, okay?"
Mara just pouted her lips before nodding.
Gray chuckled at her reaction. He stared at her for a while before proceeding to take a step forward. He knew that if he didn’t take the initiative, they would be stuck in place for hours.
"Let’s go."
Mara let out a deep sigh before proceeding to follow him.
They walked towards the entrance of the bank. Gray was stopped, but he just said that he was here to access his safe box. The security immediately let them in after that.
As soon as they stepped in, they were greeted by the staff.
"Good afternoon, Sir," she greeted Gray politely.
"Hello," Gray gave a small nod to the girl. "I’m here for a private safe. It’s not mine, but my friend," he said calmly without any hesitation in his voice.
The staff briefly paused before giving him a professional smile again.
"May I have your name and identification, sir?"
Gray handed it over to her.
"Please wait for a moment, Sir." The staff stepped away with his identification. She kept on her smile as she approached one of the terminals behind the counter in the middle of the building.
Gray patiently waited for it. Beside him, Mara leaned closer to his ear. Her voice was barely above a whisper when she said something.
"I feel like we don’t belong here," she muttered.
"It’s too late to think about that now," Gray muttered back before he let out another chuckle.
A few moments passed before the staff returned to them. She softly gave back Gray’s identification card before confirming his pass.
"Mr. Gray," she said politely, "Your access has been confirmed." fгeewebnovёl.com
Mara blinked at that.
’That fast?’ she thought in surprise.
However, Gray didn’t look surprised at all. He just stared at the staff.
"Please follow me," the staff continued.
Gray briefly nodded before they began walking, while Mara followed closely from behind.
They were led away from the main lobby and past the usual counters and seating areas, into a more restricted section of the bank. The atmosphere changed with it. The place became quieter and more secure.
A secured door stood ahead, and the staff had to tap a card against the panel to unlock the door.
They continued walking to another hallway after that. With only them and the plain hallway, the sound of their footsteps was making loud sounds.
After walking to until the end of the hallway, they were greeted by a metal door. It has more security.
The staff stopped in front of it and turned to them.
"This is the private vault area," she explained. "Only authorized individuals are allowed beyond this point."
"I understand." Gray gave a small nod.
She quickly opened the door. She started by tapping her access card to trigger the password button. After inputting a code, she had to scan her fingerprint. Only then did the door open.
"Please, go ahead." The staff let them head in first.
The moment they did, they couldn’t help but be in awe.
"Whoa."
The room wasn’t as large as they imagined, but it was dense with security.
Rows of safety deposit boxes lined the walls; each one was numbered and looked the same. There were also bigger boxes at the side that held more valuables.
The staff walked ahead, stopping in front of a specific section before turning slightly toward them.
"It’s here." She pointed at one box that was medium in size.
Gray stepped closer before he pulled out the key in his pocket.
"This is it," Mara murmured beside him; her earlier hesitation was now completely replaced by focus.
Gray pressed his lips together before inserting the key into the slot. It slid in smoothly and the moment he turned it around, the lock made a soft clicking sound.
The staff took a step back after that.
"I’ll give you privacy," after ensuring that they were in the right place, the staff quietly stepped out, closing the heavy door behind them.
"Go on, open it, Gray." Now that it was just the two of them, it felt less intimidating
Gray exhaled slowly, then slowly opened the compartment.
The moment it fully opened, both of them froze.
Right in front of their eyes were a safety box filled with stacks and stacks of cash.
"...What the hell..."
There was easily a few million inside it!
