Chapter 374: Their Formed Plan
After visiting Alistair, Gray had just gone more worried than relieved. He thought that it would be done with Alistair getting arrested and put in jail. He forgot that people like them can still find a way with the help of money.
’I need to go with this plan, or else someone else will do it,’ Gray muttered to himself.
That was if Alistair could find more people to trust. But it was better to be more careful now than regret it later on.
’I need to go with this plan... or someone else will.’
Gray exhaled slowly as he walked outside. His hand slipped into his pocket, his finger touching the key inside it.
"...I need to talk to Mara about this," he muttered under his breath.
There was no point in overthinking everything on his own. Not this time.
He pulled out his phone and dialed her number without hesitation and it didn’t take long before the call connected.
"Hello?" Her voice came through on his phone clearly. She sounded bored even.
"Are you in the office, Mara?" Gray didn’t waste time to ask that question.
There was a small pause on the other end before she eventually answered. It was as if she wasn’t just expecting that question right away so she had to hesitate.
"Yup," she answered. "I am. Why?"
"Alright," he said. "Stay there."
"What?" Mara’s voice changed as confusion slipped in. "Gray, what do you mean, stay there? What’s going—"
"I’ll be there soon. We need to talk about something."
"Wait, Gray—" But the line had already ended.
In the office, Mara slowly lowered her phone from her ears. She stared at the screen for a second before her expression turned sour.
"What?" She blinked once, and a small frown formed on her face as she leaned back in her chair.
"That’s it?" she sighed.
"This fool..." She let out a scoff before shaking her head as she placed her phone on the desk.
"He’s really so confusing and weird sometimes."
But despite her words, she knew that there was more to it.
Mara glanced toward the office door and let out another sigh.
"What did you get yourself into this time, Gray?" she murmured.
And without realizing it, Mara found herself waiting for Gray. freewёbnoνel.com

An hour later, the office door finally opened. Mara didn’t even need to look up to know it was Gray.
"You’re so long," she muttered flatly, before turning her lazy eyes on him.
Gray just sighed. He closed the door behind him before walking over and taking the seat across from her desk.
His expression was more serious than usual so Mara knew that something really had happened.
"Alright, go on," she muttered. "Start talking."
Gray lightly chuckled at it.
"You clearly knew me too well, huh?" he jokingly muttered before reaching into his pocket. He pulled out the key that was handed to him and placed it on the table.
Seeing the key made Mara’s brows furrow. But she waited for more before saying something.
That’s when Gray told her everything. He told her about Alistair, about the man that he wants him to find, the private lounge, and all the instructions given to him.
The more he spoke about what happened, the more Mara’s expression darkened.
By the time he finished, Mara’s expression had turned unreadable.
"You’ve got to be kidding me." She looked at him unbelievably.
"You know that’s not a ’small favor,’ Gray!" she exclaimed out loud, "That’s a whole setup! A dangerous one!"
"I know, I know," Gray sighed and looked at her.
"And you’re actually thinking of doing it?" she looked at him and raised her brow as if challenging him.
"I’m thinking of not letting someone else do it first, okay?" Gray replied calmly at her.
"Of course you are." Mara ran a hand through her hair, clearly frustrated.
For a moment, she didn’t say anything. She wanted to think about it, but then.
"No," she muttered and shook her head.
"No? What no?" Gray raised a brow slightly.
Mara leaned forward, before resting her elbows on the desk as she looked at him directly.
"You’re not going there yourself."
Gray tilted his head slightly and let her continue.
"Then who will?" he asked.
"What if we just hire someone?" Mara’s eyes narrowed just a little.
That made Gray pause a little.
"A proxy," she added. "Someone capable and someone who can follow instructions without messing things up."
’Ohhh...’ That made Gray lean back a little. It sounded like a good plan, actually.
"I’m sure Selina’s family has people," she said. "Especially good ones."
"Yeah..." Gray slowly nodded, his thoughts now beginning to move.
He knew that if anyone had access to reliable people, Selina would definitely have it.
"That means we can go contact them and give the instructions instead."
"Yup. That’s exactly what I’m saying," Mara nodded, seeing that she had his attention now.
"And Carrence?" he asked. "You think he won’t notice?"
"He won’t," Mara assured him. "He doesn’t even know that you’re coming. As long as the man follows the exact instruction, he won’t have any doubts."
"Right..." Gray nodded at that. "We can do that. We can also be on an earpiece so we can have live communications. We should do it in descreet way." Gray’s eyes narrowed slightly while saying that.
An earpiece was important so they could hear each other and give instructions. As long as the man was smart enough to follow instructions, this should be plausible.
"Sometimes you really are a smart one, huh?" Gray’s eyes turned to Mara at that.
Mara wiggled her brows. "Of course. It’s me."
That made the two of them laugh lightly despite the seriousness of the situation.
"But we need to do something first," Gray muttered to her.
"What is it?" For some reason, Mara’s eyes turned to the key on the table. She knew it must be something with that.
"We need to go to the safe that Alistair is talking about."
