Chapter 6: Stealing From The Gods - Such Treachery!

In a distant place, a world filled with technology far more advanced than Earth...

An old man with long grey hair streaking down his forehead tapped the armrest of a divine throne rhythmically.

Tap! Tap! Tap!

The drumming sound was particularly loud in the vast hall, echoing so heavily that one could feel the pressure coiling through the room like a dragon breathing fire upon everyone present.

Suddenly, he glanced up and noticed a young man with a pale face and hurried footsteps entering the divine palace.

Seeing the man’s expression, his gaze faltered for a brief instant but remained unreadable nonetheless. freēwēbnovel.com

"Immortal! We... we just received news that the subordinate tasked with holding that object is nowhere to be found!"

The rhythmic tapping, which had continued incessantly for an unknown amount of time, ceased.

A terrifying pressure flooded the palace as the immortal’s dark gaze landed on the young man.

"We... have lost track of him..." the young man knelt, trembling, tears already streaming down his face as he pleaded for mercy.

Many things flashed through the old man’s mind in an instant.

The scene that had lasted a hundred years...

Finally obtaining the forbidden fruit... then realizing he had been set up.

While counterattacking, he had handed the fruit to someone in the lower hierarchy...

Someone of very low standing...

Naturally, since his foe was after the same thing, they would never have expected him to hand something so precious to such a lowly being.

His plan had worked perfectly.

The entity, his foe, had remained engaged with him, while his foe’s subordinates attacked his strongest followers, ignoring the weaklings as though they were mere ants.

Everything had been successful up until this point.

’Did he consume the fruit?’

That was the first thought that came to mind. However, the immortal quickly shook his head.

It was impossible.

He had altered the man’s memories and scarred his face so brutally that healing was impossible.

He had left him in a state where he would not die, but would remain alive... alive long enough for him to deal with the battle and have his subordinates track him down.

Countless scenarios flashed through the entity’s mind. More than trillions of thoughts surged through him in an instant.

Ultimately, his gaze shifted back to the young man.

"I give you three days... three days to find the forbidden fruit... or your universe will be wiped out."

A chill surged up from the bottom of the young man’s heart.

Despite living for so long, despite being thousands of years old...

He had dedicated more than ten thousand years to following this immortal being.

And during that time, he had seen things.

Terrible things.

The fates that befell all those who went against this immortal.

And now...

The one thing this immortal cherished most...

The young man shook his head and picked up the tablet with trembling hands.

"We will definitely find the fruit... we have to..." he repeated, whether to reassure himself or his master.

The old man no longer paid him any attention.

Instead, a terrifyingly dark look appeared on his face.

The fight with his foe...

He had won it, yes.

But he had been terribly injured afterward.

He couldn’t even muster any immortal energy after that battle. Rather, he could only remain motionless and silently recover. Otherwise, he would have gone in search of the fruit himself.

’I can’t let go of this one.’

A terrifying glint passed through the immortal’s eyes.

Three days.

Only three days.

He would never let go of the only chance to surpass immortality and godhood.

This was probably one of the last fruits in existence...

’Nexus... The cursed God of Creation...’

He muttered the words, a gloomy look appearing on his face as images too grand for the mortal mind to comprehend surfaced within his vision.

...

In another place...

In the world of Nexus...

The surroundings quaked and rumbled beneath the terrifying weight of fracturing space.

"What’s happening?" Amon shouted, trying to draw the fairy’s attention.

However, a similarly panicked expression appeared on her face as she repeatedly cried out:

[Error!]

[Error!]

[Error!]

The words echoed so loudly that they were beginning to piss Amon off.

’System, help me out here,’ Amon said silently.

[Host, do you wish to enter the starter village?]

’As long as it gets me out of this goddamn place,’ he glanced toward the fairy, ’and that disturbing robot.’

[Initiating command.]

A bright white light surrounded Amon in an instant, coating him and bathing him in radiant brilliance before transporting him out of the Beginning Phase and into the game.

Meanwhile, inside the initial arena, the fairy continued speaking loudly.

[Error!]

[Error!]

[Error!]

Suddenly, she froze.

Then her words changed.

[Treachery! Player Weaver has stolen from the gods.]

[Initiating SSS Ranked Causality Trial...]

Her eyes glowed a brilliant crimson, and as they did, the fractured space began to stabilize, regaining its natural shimmering radiance filled with stars and multicolored light.

...

In the world of Nexus, after the blinding light subsided, Amon opened his eyes to a new world.

Vibrant trees surrounded the village, while houses rose in neat rows.

Humans from all walks of life carrying various weapons, gleaming daggers, longbows, crossbows, short swords, and different pieces of gear moved through the streets.

Some approached NPCs, or as they preferred to believe, the ’humans’ of Nexus, and attempted to obtain missions.

The place was bustling with life and vibrance.

"So... this is Nexus..." Amon whispered in awe, even pinching himself in disbelief.

He glanced at the sky.

It was pale blue, and two suns hung on opposite sides, their bright, warm orange glow illuminating the entire world.

Everything was so lifelike.

’It’s almost as if it isn’t a game...’ Amon thought quietly.

Amon finally managed to recollect himself.

Just as he was pondering what to do next...

’Do I go and get a mission or something?’

Suddenly,

[Ding! You have extracted the fragment of the divine and triggered a series of chain events.]

[Ding! You have absorbed the fragment of the divine. All initial stats are maxed out.]

[Ding! You have obtained a divine skill fragment...]

[Ding! You...]

The system messages flooded Amon’s vision, nearly blinding him.

’This is...’

Amon fell speechless as he read through the influx of notifications.
