Chapter 41: Chapter 41—Assistance

Hearing that urgency in Prime’s words, Laden couldn’t help but look towards the Fruit Prime was talking about.

"Ohhhhhh," he said with a shocked expression.

The fruit was completely golden in color, its body gleaming under the light from the Crystals on the ceiling. But the color of the fruit wasn’t what shocked Laden so much.

He could feel the especially appealing aura the fruit was exuding, as if it was directly calling for him.

"Why am I so attracted to that Fruit," Laden said while swallowing a mouthful of saliva.

"Because it will help us greatly," Prime said.

"I feel it will help me evolve to a stronger state, upgrading my essence." His excitement is evident in his tone.

Laden’s eyes instantly widened, his pupils shaking in excitement, when he heard that.

"Are...you...sure?" Laden asked again.

"Yes, I am, do you see why we must get it now?" Prime said.

"Yes, yes. We absolutely need to get it," he said resolutely.

Wooohooooo! The deep voice of the Monkey leader finally snapped Laden out of his thoughts.

He turned to look at the leader, hoping to understand what it was saying when he noticed it holding a stick and making some marks on the ground.

Laden paid close attention, trying to decipher the mark, but nothing seemed to be coming to mind.

"What does he need me to do?" Laden wondered.

"Are you blind? It’s obviously asking for help," Prime shouted.

"Help? How do you know that? Do you speak monkey?" Laden said half-jokingly.

"Tsk, I am just smarter," freeweɓnovel.cøm

"Do you need my help?" Laden asked, hoping to confirm Prime’s speculations.

Wowohoho!

The smaller monkey responded while nodding its head profusely.

"So you really need my help, but with what—"

Baaaaa Nnnngggggggg!

Laden’s words weren’t done leaving his throat when he heard the loud bang coming from outside the cave.

It was so loud that shards of crystals had shaken and fallen off the roof of the cave.

Laden turned to the monkey leader hoping to get an idea of what was happening. His eyes met with the beast leader’s, and Laden noticed an expression he never imagined he would get from an Evil beast.

"Is it pleading?" Laden thought.

"It seems they need your help taking care of the exact stuff that caused the explosion just now," Prime said.

"This is our chance; ask for that in return."

Laden thought about it and confirmed that Prime’s words actually made it. It seems it was easier for him to understand the beast than Laden, but something didn’t sit right with him.

"Isn’t that exploitation," Laden asked.

"Dummy, no, it’s not. It’s just a business deal," Prime responded frustratedly.

"Hmmmm,"

Laden raised his head to look back at the beast leader, noticing the slight impatience growing in its eyes.

"I will help you, but you will give me that," Laden said while pointing at the golden fruit beside its makeshift throne.

Roooooooarrrrrrrrrr! The beast leader roared out in anger upon hearing that; obviously, it wasn’t willing to release such a precious treasure.

With Prime’s backing, Laden remained unfazed; he stood in his spot and stared straight at the beast leader.

Seeing Laden’s confidence, it slowly calmed down and turned to look at the fruit; it then turned to look at Laden and then back at the fruit.

Woooohhooooo!!!!! A loud, distressed monkey sound suddenly came from outside, and that immediately became the straw that broke the camel’s back.

The beast leader’s face toughened up as it picked up the fruit and slowly handed it to Laden, all while its eyes were still fully locked on the fruit.

"We have a deal then," Laden said with a smile while putting the fruit in his bag.

Hmmphh!!! The beast leader said with a nod before running out of the cage with its underlings.

"I guess we have a problem to solve then," he turned around to follow the group of monkeys back out of the cave.

The passage was quite long, giving Laden some time to think for a bit and also discuss with Prime.

"We have gotten the fruit, and now what do you think we will be up against?" Laden asked.

"I am not really sure, but it seems to be a problem that has been hunting them for quite a while," Prime responded.

"I hope we can handle it then since we have gotten our payment," Laden thought.

Laden ran through the dimly lit passage behind the beast leader, their steps sending soft tremors through the ground.

Due to the speed at which they were moving, the group finally arrived at the entrance to the cave, and Laden finally realized what he had gotten himself into.

"Ohhh, this is big," Laden thought.

The cave must have acted as some sort of noise-canceling barrier, as the moment he got outside, Laden noticed one thing.

Noise.

There was noise everywhere; the sound of battle was so loud and widespread that Laden felt he was in a battlefield.

And he didn’t feel wrong as he was actually on a battlefield. All around, Laden were Golden furred Monkeys battle against at least one Silver skinned beast.

"Are those Hyenas," Laden thought with a shocked face.

The Golden-furred beasts were currently locked in a gruesome battle with Silver skinned hyenas manipulating metal.

Laden could observe that the Monkeys were heavily countered as they were trying to fight in close combat against a group of beasts capable of using Elemental attacks.

Laden watched the Golden Monkey leader charge towards a direction where another gigantic Hyena was currently dominating.

The Hyena was currently fighting multiple Monkeys at the same time, and it was slowly killing them off.

Roooooarrrrrrrrrrrr

The Monkey leader roared before leaping into the air with all the strength it had.

"A battle of leaders, uhhh," Laden muttered.

"I better join the battle too now."

"Yessssss, let’s go," Prime shouted.

He appeared beside Laden before quickly merging into his body, making them battle-ready.

Before Laden could run far, his path was quickly blocked by an Hyena with metal floating beside it.

"Ohh, fighting a special one already," Laden said with shock.
