Chapter 40: Chapter 40—Plea for Help

Laden looked at the large arms falling down at him as they cast a shadow that completely blocked out the sun.

"It seems he is a sore loser," Laden said with a frown, his legs preparing to burst away from his spot.

With a kick of his leg, Laden applied an immense amount of force to the ground and generated enough power to push him away from the attack range. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

"Do we really have to battle the monkey leader when we are surrounded by his whole group?" Laden said while clenching his teeth.

"It doesn’t matter at all; we shall fight and win them all," Prime shouted.

In his position, Laden’s body remained close to the ground as he was ready to sprint away at any sign of attack from the beast.

But instead of the golden-furred monkey’s leader attacking again, it just stood there with his eyes locked on Laden. Laden could even observe its muscles being relaxed, like it had no intention of attacking anymore.

!

The beast leader let out a short harrumph before heading back to its seat.

"Is it over? Aren’t we fighting anymore?" Laden wondered.

Wooohohohoo!

The monkey that had led Laden into all of this mess came to him again, making loud noises and making celebratory and welcoming gestures.

The four monkeys that had been previously carrying the makeshift throne quickly got back to their position, raising it on their shoulders and turning around to carry their leader away.

Laden remained in his spot, having no idea what he was supposed to do now; should he just wait or leave without saying anything?

Wohohooh haaaaa!

The monkey’s noise attracted Laden’s attention again when Laden noticed what the monkey was telling him.

"Don’t tell me it wants me to follow them?" Laden muttered.

"The last time I followed you, I ended up here arm wrestling your leader to save myself."

"There’s no way I will be going with you," Laden thought.

"We need to see this to the end, Laden. Stop being a baby and follow him. We won the wrestling in the end, didn’t we?" Prime finally said.

But this time Laden didn’t immediately move; instead, he still seemed a little hesitant about the idea of following that sore loser leader of a forbidden place somewhere he doesn’t know.

"How about this: if we get something good, I will tell you a very juicy secret," Prime proposed.

"Juicy Secret? Spill it now," Laden said anxiously.

"No no no, only if we get something good," Prime said with a firm tone.

"Alright, alright, we better not get into any unnecessary danger," Laden finally agreed.

After talking it all out with Prime, Laden finally got the confidence to actually follow the beast leader. As a result of their slow pace, the group hadn’t moved a far distance, so Laden was able to quickly catch up to them.

"Where are we going?" Laden asked the monkey.

Woohooo! Hahahaha!

The only responses Laden received were only some excited chatters and nothing else.

"What was I doing talking to a monkey?" Laden said self-deprecatingly.

It seems their destination wasn’t too far from where the main groups were, as Laden could see a cave a bit to the front, which appeared to be the destination.

"Ohhh, I am being invited to the leaders above," he thought.

It was now obvious Laden didn’t mean any harm, so he also had no plan of harming them. It seems they have tested his strength and have deemed him worthy.

"I wonder what is in there?" Laden let his mind wander a little.

"It better be some weird monkey harem," Laden thought as his mind wandered off to some mangas he had read in his previous life.

"It shouldn’t be so, should it?"

"Quit thinking of dumb and useless stuff and focus," Prime berated.

While Laden’s mind had been busy wandering off, they had gotten close to the cave entrance, allowing Laden to see a bit of the inside.

"This is a strange place," Laden wondered.

The inside of the cave was extremely dark; from his peak, Laden couldn’t see more than a meter into the cave, signifying how low the visibility actually was.

Laden maintained his composure while also making sure he was as alert as he could get.

They finally arrive at the actual entrance to the cave, and what Laden felt immediately made him open his mouth in shock.

"Can you feel it, Prime?" Laden asked.

"Yes, I can. I told you we would be getting something good."

Coming out of the cage was a large amount of spirit energy, massive enough to make Prime and Laden feel their skins tingle a little.

"Yes, it seems you were right."

The monkey convoy didn’t stop when they arrived at the entrance; instead, they directly dived into the dark cave.

"We are going in."

The inside of the tunnel-like cave appeared much brighter than Laden had seen previously; there were glowing crystals sticking off the wall that were sparsely spread out.

They were just enough to make visibility possible and few enough to prevent the cave from being excessively lit.

After paying a bit of attention to the crystals, Laden’s attention was quickly grabbed by something off into the distance.

A bit off in front of them was a bright point of light, making it difficult for Laden to get any detail on where that place was and from the lack of reduction in their pace and the direction they were headed.

"We are going there," Laden muttered.

Despite not seeing any detail of the distant light, Laden knew that most of the spirit energy here was coming towards him from what he felt.

They quickly arrived at that point of light, which Laden noticed to be like an enlarged portion of the passage.

This enlarged part was extremely brightly lit, and Laden’s eyes were stuck on the source of light.

It was an extremely large piece of crystal that was hanging down from the ceiling; its size was comparable to all the crystals Laden had seen earlier and more.

"Laden, Laden, Laden!" Prime suddenly shouted.

"Get that fruit... Immediately," his voice laced with undeniable excitement.
