Chapter 497: Chapter 497: Want to Leave a Little Space in Your Heart
"I hope you remember." Logan Shaw continued, "Evelyn... I am genuinely attracted to you."
The world suddenly seemed to quiet down, silent without the slightest sound.
These days, Evelyn Morgan tried hard not to think about Logan Shaw liking her, believing it was just a dream.
After all, she truly didn’t feel she had the fortune that Logan Shaw would like her.
But, did Logan Shaw really say he was sincere?
"You don’t have to like me, nor feel difficult facing me," Logan’s voice was very soft, "Evelyn, I am selfish... just wanting to leave a little place in your heart."
"I’m sorry..." Evelyn Morgan apologized solemnly, "It was my misunderstanding, causing your distress."
"It’s not related to you." Logan Shaw shook his head, "It’s not because of your misunderstanding that I like you; I was attracted to you from the beginning. Why I wanted to see you, why I felt good when I saw you, it turns out it’s because... I like you."
Without hearing a reply from Evelyn, Logan Shaw spoke again: "I am sorry to tell you this, knowing well it would disturb your life, yet still telling you. But if my genuine liking is taken as a joke by you, Evelyn, it hurts me immensely."
"I’m sorry." Evelyn Morgan choked with apology, "Really, I’m sorry."
"You didn’t do anything wrong." Logan Shaw said gently, "Evelyn, I should thank you. Because of you, I can continue working on the career I love, the coin you gave me fulfilled... many, many dreams."
Evelyn Morgan opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but no words came out.
Her nose tingled, she felt she was a terrible woman.
Because, she couldn’t even speak comforting words.
"Someone’s calling me, I should... hang up now," Logan Shaw said softly, "Evelyn, I wish you happiness."
Listening to the "beep beep beep" of the busy tone in her ear, Evelyn Morgan lowered her head, placed the phone down, hugged her knees, sitting in the corner, lonely like an ostrich.
She didn’t want the people around her to get hurt because of her, but, seems like...
She had unknowingly hurt many people.
The emotions she managed to hold back collapsed at this moment, Evelyn Morgan tried hard to remind herself not to cry.
At this point, Caden Lockwood would be back soon, she couldn’t let him see her abnormality.
She must calm down.
Pretend like nothing happened at all!
Hearing the sound of a car pulling back outside, Evelyn Morgan quickly wiped her tears dry.
She rushed to the mirror, looked at her red eyes, and hurriedly jumped onto the bed, pretending to be asleep.
She couldn’t help but think: Not fully awake, eyes red, should make sense, right?
Caden Lockwood parked the car, got out, glanced at the entrance, and Evelyn Morgan didn’t come out to greet him.
In the past few days, as long as he came back early, she would definitely run out cheerfully, like a little bird.
What happened to her today?
She didn’t come out.
Caden Lockwood’s footsteps involuntarily quickened, as some displeasure surged in his heart. Hearing Aunt May said Evelyn Morgan was in the bedroom, he opened the door, saw Evelyn Morgan lying on the bed asleep, his brows unconsciously furrowed.
It’s almost time to eat, why was she still sleeping?
Caden Lockwood approached Evelyn Morgan, reached out, touched her forehead, not hot.
Looking at her face again, her cheeks still had some tear marks.
She... had cried?
Evelyn Morgan then opened her eyes, pretending to be just awake, smiled and said, "You’re back!"
