Chapter 474: Chapter 474: There’s Something I’ve Never Told You
Listening to Yvette’s icy voice, Evelyn’s lips curled awkwardly.
Both of them are women, so why is she so timid?
Upon hearing about the strange occurrences in the villa, Caden Lockwood immediately dropped his work and rushed back. When he saw the ashes and photos in the study, his face instantly turned dark and grim.
It seems that someone wants to disturb Evelyn using Yvonne Rhodes’ death.
"Frightened, aren’t you?" Caden embraced Evelyn in his arms, "Don’t be afraid; those aren’t real ashes, just props."
Evelyn’s face was ashen.
She looked at Caden, and from the moment the incident occurred until now, she had regained quite a bit of composure.
Now, she felt less fear and more confusion.
Seeing Evelyn remain silent, Caden pulled her into the bedroom, gently kissed her forehead, and whispered softly in her ear, "It’s my fault for being negligent and letting those things mix in."
"Uncle." Evelyn’s voice was very, very light.
She tightly grasped his hand, as if letting go would mean being snatched away by the devil.
"Why... was I shown those things? What is that person’s purpose?" Evelyn asked.
She couldn’t understand.
If the goal was to break her and Caden apart, this approach didn’t seem very effective!
After all, Yvonne Rhodes was already dead.
Or did Yvonne’s death have another meaning?
"Evelyn." Caden said sternly, "I won’t allow you to dwell on this matter for another minute. Forget it, leave the rest to me."
Evelyn frowned, showing some discontent in her gaze towards Caden.
"I know you’re trying to protect me by not telling me, but someone has already provoked us directly; I definitely can’t hide from it!" Evelyn said anxiously, "If I know nothing, the next time this happens, I’ll only be afraid."
"You won’t encounter this again." Caden’s tone was filled with a rich determination, "I promise."
"How can you be so sure?" Evelyn retorted, inevitably showing some resentment in her tone.
He refused to tell her anything; just how much did he doubt her ability?
Caden’s brows furrowed, his thin lips parted slightly, and he lowered his tone: "You just need to rely on me."
"Things don’t seem so simple." Evelyn pushed Caden away, met his gaze, and said firmly, "There’s something I haven’t told you."
"What?" Caden coldly spat out two words.
"On the morning I went out to buy flowers to make bookmarks for you, although I’m not very certain, I seemed to... see Yvonne Rhodes." Evelyn’s voice was very, very light.
Bringing up such strange matters, she was still afraid.
"Impossible!" Caden’s dark eyes shrank, "She is already dead!"
"That’s why I found it strange, and thought I must have been seeing things!" Evelyn’s voice was swift, "But today, when I saw those fake ashes and that photo, I recalled that day’s scene carefully, and indeed, it was real. I didn’t see wrong; what I saw was Yvonne Rhodes."
After a pause, Evelyn softly asked again: "Could it be... that what I saw was... a ghost?"
Caden’s face was dark and handsome, his gaze fixed on Evelyn, uncertain how to react to her words.
