Chapter 473: Chapter 473: How Could Something Like That Be at Home?

Evelyn clung tightly to Aunt May. Only this way could she feel a bit safer.

The scene she had just witnessed flashed in her mind, and Evelyn’s trembling became more pronounced.

Earlier, when she opened the gift box, she found a pile of white ash inside, resembling bone ashes, and on top of it lay a photograph of Yvonne Rhodes falling down the stairs.

In the photo, Yvonne’s death appeared even more horrifying.

The blood in the image seemed as if it would flow out of the photograph, especially with the bone ashes, catching Evelyn off guard and leaving her petrified.

"There’s really nothing," Aunt May whispered, "Young Madam, come on, let’s go to the study room. I’ll go in front, you hide behind me, alright?"

Evelyn clenched her fists, forcing herself to calm down.

No matter what, she had to figure out what was going on.

She was at the scene of Yvonne’s death; it was just a photo, there was no need to be scared, absolutely no need!

Taking a deep breath, Evelyn tried to banish those terrifying images from her mind, hiding behind Aunt May as she took small steps forward.

In the study, there were only heaps of gifts and gift boxes. Aunt May and Evelyn exchanged a glance before they both walked into the study.

When Aunt May saw the bone ashes and the photograph inside the box, she was also startled.

Aunt May shielded Evelyn to the living room, and both their faces looked grim, except for Kiki, who seemed more cheerful at the side.

"How could something like that be in the house?" Aunt May’s voice trembled, "I’ll call Young Master."

Evelyn dared not make a sound, hugging herself tightly as she looked around warily, fearing something ghostly might jump out and scare her.

The memory of seeing Yvonne on the day she bought flowers grew clearer, and Evelyn began to doubt whether it was an illusion.

Did she really see a ghost in broad daylight?

Aunt May picked up the phone, just prepared to dial Caden Lockwood, when the doorbell suddenly rang.

"Ah—"

Both Aunt May and Evelyn screamed, clinging to each other with identical expressions of terror on their faces.

The next second, the villa door was opened.

Soon after, a tall, stunning woman, exuding an aura of coldness and arrogance, entered. She glanced around and softly said, "I am Yvette, the bodyguard sent by Mr. Lockwood to protect Mrs. Lockwood. What’s happening here?"

It took Evelyn and Aunt May a while to regain their composure. Looking at Yvette, they were too scared to speak.

Yvette searched around, confirmed there was no danger on the ground floor, and then looked upstairs.

Evelyn pointed to the study and then shrank back into Aunt May’s arms, still haunted by the terrifying images in her mind.

Yvette furrowed her brows, walked slowly upstairs to the study, and returned about five minutes later.

"Who sent the box?" Yvette asked.

"It was sent by my uncle," Evelyn replied softly.

Instinctively, she felt Yvette was quite powerful, and with Yvette around, it seemed like she didn’t need to be so afraid.

Seeing the puzzled look on Yvette’s face, Aunt May added, "It was a gift from the Young Master to the Young Madam, but I suspect that gift was smuggled in to scare the Young Madam."

Yvette nodded, relaxed her vigilance a little, and softly said, "We need to investigate who specifically did it. I’ll contact Mr. Lockwood first, don’t worry, the villa is very safe, and there are no ghosts."
