Chapter 472: Chapter 472: With Me Here, Don’t Be Afraid
Evelyn casually sat down on the floor and began to unwrap the gifts piled up in the study.
One gift box after another, Evelyn’s eyes were filled with strong anticipation, while Kiki played beside her with the empty boxes.
Inside the boxes were glass balls, dolls, piggy banks, earrings, wish bottles, music boxes, and many other things, all of which girls loved.
Evelyn bit her lip, involuntarily thinking: Did Caden Lockwood personally buy these things, or did he ask Sean Ashton to help?
A man like Caden Lockwood, who rarely even speaks softly, would buy such things?
Evelyn’s hands were getting tired from unwrapping gifts, yet there were still more than a dozen boxes left.
"What a tycoon!" Evelyn muttered, "Others give gifts one by one, but he comes with a whole truckload! Will he really send a truckload of money if he makes me angry again next time?"
Thinking about it, Evelyn couldn’t help but laugh.
There were too many gift boxes, and she was too lazy to unwrap them all, planning to unwrap one a day.
That way, she could receive gifts every day.
In her line of sight, Evelyn saw a very beautiful box.
Looking closely, she couldn’t help but find it strange.
The other gift boxes were wrapped with bows.
But that box was wrapped with a white flower, a white chrysanthemum, to be exact.
Evelyn pursed her lips, thinking to herself: "Could it be that the gift in this box is something different?"
Thinking of this, Evelyn picked up the box.
She patted Kiki on the head and then opened the box.
"Ah—"
At the moment the box was opened, Evelyn let out a shriek, dropped the box in fright, jumped up, and ran out of the study as if her life depended on it.
Kiki quickly followed Evelyn, and Aunt May, hearing the noise, rushed up.
Aunt May caught Evelyn, who almost stumbled on the stairs, and urgently asked, "Young Madam, what happened? What’s wrong?"
"Ghost! There’s a ghost!" Evelyn tightly held Aunt May’s hand, "Aunt May, there’s a ghost!"
Evelyn’s face was pale, trembling like a leaf, her eyes were brimming with tears, every expression on her face was filled with fear, her hairs stood on end, as if a ghost was clinging to her, making her want to hide in Aunt May’s arms and leave the villa.
Aunt May looked behind Evelyn; there was nothing, nothing frightening coming out of the study.
"Young Madam, are you seeing things?" Aunt May whispered, "Stay here, I’ll go have a look! Don’t be superstitious! There’s no way there could be a ghost!"
Evelyn held Aunt May tightly, not letting her go.
"It’s real!" Evelyn’s face had not a trace of color, "Aunt May, there’s a ghost! Let’s go quickly!"
"Young Madam!" Aunt May held Evelyn’s hand, "Don’t panic! There’s really nothing there! Look, I’m not lying! With me here, you don’t need to be afraid! Besides, dogs are very sensitive to that kind of thing, if there really was something here, Kiki would have barked."
Evelyn looked at Aunt May and then at Kiki, her body still uncontrollably trembling.
Taking a deep breath, Evelyn slowly, very slowly turned around, wanting to check if there really was nothing at the study door.
Evelyn’s anxiety and fear were obviously etched on her face. Focusing her gaze, she found that there was indeed nothing suspicious in sight.
Yet her heart pounded wildly, the terrifying image in her mind reminding her that what she had just seen was real.
