Chapter 475: Chapter 475: You Lit the Fire, You Put It Out

Caden Lockwood absolutely doesn’t believe in ghosts.

If what Evelyn Morgan saw was really Yvonne Rhodes, then it definitely must have been human-made!

"I will investigate the surveillance." Caden spoke softly, "Give me the approximate time and direction, and I’ll have Yvette look into it."

Evelyn nodded, recalled the time, and then shared everything with Caden.

"When you find the results, you must tell me." Evelyn added anxiously, "Whether I saw a person or a ghost, you have to give me an answer!"

"Alright." This time, Caden didn’t refuse, "I will tell you once there’s news."

Evelyn nodded, feeling slightly more at ease.

The image of Yvonne Rhodes’ tragic death wouldn’t leave her mind. She took several deep breaths but still felt terrified.

Looking at Evelyn’s pale face, Caden’s heart was also a bit unsettled.

He knew that Evelyn couldn’t be entirely uninvolved in some matters.

However, he didn’t want her to know.

The more truth she knew, the heavier and more pressured her life would become.

And who was it that mixed the horror gift box with the gift he sent?

Could this matter be related to L?

Pushing down his doubts, Caden knew that Yvette would investigate these matters.

For now, what he needed to do was to dispel Evelyn’s fear, doubt, and unease.

"Trust me." Caden said softly, "Madam, I will protect you and ensure you are not bullied!"

Listening to Caden’s proud yet somewhat arrogant tone, Evelyn couldn’t help but smile.

After looking Caden up and down, she teased, "It’s really unfair! I tell you everything, yet you hide things from me. But whenever you change the subject, I don’t even have the right to pursue it further!"

"Is madam indirectly praising my strength?" Caden raised an eyebrow, "Thank you, madam."

"You’re so thick-skinned!" Evelyn said, her hand itching, wanting to pinch Caden’s handsome face.

This thought had been in her mind for so, so long.

She had always wanted to pinch Caden’s face to see how it felt.

But if she did so, it might be a provocation to this big man!

Yet, even knowing it’s something she shouldn’t do, she still wanted to give it a try!

Especially that kind of unknown adventure where the more dangerous the consequence, the more she wanted to provoke just to see, made her heart race, with no other thoughts.

"Uncle," Evelyn softly said, "Look outside, that cloud is so beautiful!"

Caden followed Evelyn’s direction, only to feel his face being pinched hard shortly after.

Caden frowned, his gaze returning to Evelyn’s face.

Just to see the playful smile on her lips, mixed with a sense of pride in successfully pulling off a prank.

This girl actually... pinched his face?

She rarely initiated physical contact, but the soft warm sensation spreading across his cheek was unexpectedly comforting.

"Do you realize you’re playing with fire?" Caden’s voice was deep and magnetic, "Evelyn, it seems you want to be devoured!"

Evelyn was startled and quickly stepped back a few steps.

"Uncle, don’t get any ideas!" Evelyn pleaded urgently, "You’re not fully recovered yet!"

"My waist is already free to move." Caden said seriously, "Evelyn, you started this fire, so you must put it out."
