Chapter 91: Chapter 91: For Example

"Did you know? My second uncle finally broke up with Amanda Thorne! It just happened a few days ago!" Selena Sheridan said, a secret smile creeping onto her face as she noticed Amanda’s sour expression.

"Yeah, I know."

"How did you know?" Selena looked at her, puzzled. ’And here I thought it was a huge secret!’

Georgia Thorne didn’t dare admit that when Elliot Sheridan had called Amanda Thorne to break up with her, she had been right there. In fact, she was the one who had made the call!

"I was arguing with Amanda upstairs just now. She let it slip in the heat of the moment, and that’s how I found out."

Selena Sheridan nodded. "I told you so, didn’t I? My second uncle would never like a superficial woman like her. Amanda is just not his type!"

"Let me tell you a little secret: my second uncle’s type is the kind of woman who looks innocent, acts tough on the outside, but is incredibly soft on the inside. To give you an example... my second uncle likes women like you!"

"*Pfft!*" Hearing Selena’s example, Georgia Thorne choked, unable to catch her breath.

Selena hurriedly poured her a glass of water. "I was just giving an example! Did you have to get so worked up?"

’How could I not be worked up? I’m dating Elliot right now!’

Georgia Thorne looked up at her guiltily, forcing a hollow laugh and saying nothing.

Right now, she felt like a grasshopper in a field, startled by the slightest disturbance.

She didn’t want Selena Sheridan to connect her with Elliot Sheridan.

She took a sip of water, changed the subject, and they chatted for a bit longer.

But trouble always comes in waves. Georgia Thorne had never imagined that Zane Lennox, who had been out of sight for several days, would actually show up.

Moreover, Jared Thorne didn’t seem the least bit surprised, which suggested he had known all along.

At the dinner table, Justin Sullivan and Selena Sheridan sat across from Georgia Thorne, while Zane Lennox sat to her right.

Zane Lennox doted on Georgia Thorne, and everyone could see it. He was being exceptionally attentive to her.

Selena Sheridan was quite envious of Georgia being waited on by her boyfriend. When she turned to look at the man beside her, she felt a pang of disappointment.

’When will Jean ever treat me the way Zane treats Georgia?’

During the meal, Georgia had privately warned Zane Lennox several times to watch himself and not get so close to her.

Zane Lennox completely ignored her. On the surface, he acted like the perfect, impeccable boyfriend, doing nearly everything for her. He even wiped her mouth for her. The only thing he hadn’t done was feed her by hand.

The more Zane acted this way, the more Georgia detested him.

Her delicate brows knitted tightly as she asked in a low voice, "Zane Lennox, what exactly are you trying to do?"

"Can’t you tell? I’m provoking the man across from us!" Zane Lennox suddenly leaned close to her ear, his warm breath tickling her skin.

Their heads were so close they were nearly touching, whispering intimately. This seamless intimacy made the man across from them burn with jealousy.

His knuckles turned white as he gripped his chopsticks. He couldn’t even stand to see Georgia Thorne being close to another man; the thought of her being with Elliot Sheridan was even more unbearable!

’When Georgia is with Elliot, are they even more intimate than this? Does Elliot kiss her?’

Selena Sheridan called his name several times, but Justin Sullivan didn’t react.

Following his gaze to Georgia, she grew even more puzzled, her eyes darting back and forth between Georgia and Justin.

The man’s dark eyes blazed with a furious fire, as if he wanted to devour the two people across from him.

’Jean’s attitude toward Georgia... it seems a little different!’

The moment the thought popped into her head, Selena Sheridan was startled by it herself.

She shook her head violently, casting the terrifying idea to the back of her mind.

’Jean and Georgia are uncle and niece. How could they possibly...!’

Selena Sheridan shook her head hard again and tugged on Justin Sullivan’s sleeve.

Justin Sullivan whipped his head around, his eyes fierce, but his voice softened. "Selena, what’s wrong?"

Selena Sheridan shook her head, just wishing that Justin Sullivan would pay a little more attention to her.

Amanda Thorne snorted, thinking how interesting the scene with the four of them was.

After dinner, just as Georgia Thorne was about to go upstairs, she ran into Amanda Thorne.

"I need to talk to you. I’ll be waiting for you on the long bench outside," Amanda said in a low voice as she passed by in her cotton slippers.

Before Georgia could even consider whether to agree, Amanda was already heading outside.

’Strange, what could she want with me?’

Amanda Thorne had been on the phone at the top of the stairs just moments before. Then she had walked over and said she needed to talk.

Georgia felt a pang of guilt, immediately recalling the phone call she had overheard earlier. She watched Amanda walk out, her brow furrowed tightly.

’Don’t tell me... Amanda found out that the person with Elliot is me, did she?’

Georgia’s heart throbbed with anxiety. If Amanda really had found out it was her, it wasn’t like her to not cause a scene.

She walked uneasily toward the door, praying that her fears were unfounded.

Night fell and a wind picked up. The cool breeze rustled through the tree branches, making them SWISH and SHAKE.

Georgia Thorne came out without a jacket. She walked over to the bench but didn’t see Amanda.

’That’s strange. Didn’t she say she wanted to talk to me?’

’Where did she go?’

Above the bench, a dim lamp cast its light directly on her, making her shadow on the ground very short.

After waiting a few minutes, she heard footsteps approaching.

Standing in the light, Georgia couldn’t see into the darkness. She squinted but still couldn’t tell if the figure was Amanda’s.

It wasn’t until the person was standing right in front of her that she could clearly see the man’s face.

"Why is it you?" Georgia exclaimed in surprise, her eyes scanning the area around him.

’Where did Amanda go?’

When Justin Sullivan heard her words, the flicker of joy in his heart was instantly extinguished by a bucket of cold water.

Amanda had told him that Georgia wanted to see him. Amanda must have planned this.

"Georgia, are you disappointed to see me?" Justin Sullivan asked, not mentioning Amanda.

"No, it’s just that Aman—" Before she could finish the name, Georgia instantly realized she had been set up by Amanda Thorne.

She knew about Georgia’s past crush on Justin Sullivan, so she deliberately set up a meeting between them while Selena was here.

Back inside the house, Jared Thorne’s family was fawning over Selena Sheridan.

Before, when Selena Sheridan was just Georgia’s best friend, Hayley Sullivan hadn’t liked her. But now she was Justin Sullivan’s girlfriend, and that changed everything.

Hayley Sullivan was fully focused on flattering Selena. When Justin’s name came up, Selena looked around as if just remembering he wasn’t there.

Amanda Thorne chimed in, "Uncle Jean just stepped out!"

Amanda was doing this on purpose. She wanted to expose Georgia’s two-faced nature to her own best friend.

She wanted Selena Sheridan to see Justin Sullivan and Georgia tangled up together. It would be best if it broke their sisterly bond and turned them into enemies.

Selena Sheridan didn’t like Hayley Sullivan. Even though Hayley was now Justin’s sister, and would one day be her sister-in-law, she still couldn’t stand her.

The woman was so vulgar, constantly talking about assets and the like.

’The Sheridan Family may be wealthy, but they would never give any of it to the Thorne Family.’

When Hayley Sullivan subtly brought up the topic of how large her dowry might be, Selena’s disgust only grew.

Unable to keep up the pretense any longer, she stood up. "Excuse me, I’m going to go find Jean."

The smile on Hayley Sullivan’s face froze, turning ugly. ’That little brat. If she weren’t the young mistress of the Sheridan Family, who would bother with her?’

’So arrogant. Who is she trying to show off for?’

Selena Sheridan was the only daughter in her generation of the Sheridan Family. It went without saying how much they treasured her, pampering her since she was a child.

Her dowry would surely be far more generous than that of any other wealthy heiress.
