Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Doesn’t Look Like an Honest Person

Georgia Thorne was speechless.

’He’s being a pervert again!’

In any case, Elliot Sheridan did as he pleased and bought quite a few things.

She and Nancy Hughes shared a bathroom. If Nancy got home and saw the bathroom suddenly filled with so many men’s products, wouldn’t she wonder if she’d walked into the wrong apartment?

Carrying a huge pile of things upstairs, she found the apartment empty. Nancy Hughes wasn’t back from work yet.

Georgia Thorne took the key from her pocket, opened the door, and had Elliot Sheridan start bringing things inside.

The soundproofing in this apartment building wasn’t very good. Miss Lynch from across the hall must have heard the commotion, because she opened her door.

"Georgia, you’re back!"

Georgia Thorne responded, "Hello, Miss Lynch!"

"Oh, and who’s this young man? How come I’ve never seen him before!" Miss Lynch exclaimed, spotting Elliot Sheridan as he came out to carry more things in.

He was dressed in a proper suit and was quite handsome, but he looked a bit old.

Just as Georgia Thorne was about to introduce him, she heard Miss Lynch ask, "Is this your uncle?"

"Uh, no." Georgia Thorne instinctively glanced at Elliot Sheridan. His expression had darkened considerably.

"No? Is he courting you, then?"

"That’s not it, either!" Georgia Thorne laughed nervously and tried to push Elliot Sheridan inside.

Elliot Sheridan stubbornly stood his ground, and Georgia couldn’t budge him.

"Georgia, you’re not getting any younger. You need to get serious about dating and pick a good man soon. If you wait until you’re older, all the good men will be snatched up by other girls! This fellow is certainly handsome, good-looking, but he’s a little on the old side, and he doesn’t seem like the trustworthy type. That other young man who came by last time was better—he’s young and seems so upstanding. He’d be a perfect match for you!" Miss Lynch had always been blunt, saying whatever came to mind.

Georgia Thorne had no idea how Miss Lynch even knew about Zane Lennox. She was just randomly trying to play matchmaker.

Feeling a dark, menacing gaze on her, she snuck a sideways glance at Elliot Sheridan. His face was as black as thunder.

Before Miss Lynch could get even more out of hand, she quickly explained, "Miss Lynch, he’s my boyfriend!"

Miss Lynch seemed stunned by Georgia’s words. This boyfriend of Georgia’s, it seemed, was not a good one.

Her cat started meowing from inside, likely hungry. After a few more remarks, Miss Lynch closed her door.

Georgia Thorne turned her head and nearly bumped into Elliot Sheridan, who was standing in the doorway.

"Georgia, is my age an issue for you?"

His face was grim as he asked her with utmost seriousness.

Before meeting Georgia Thorne, he’d never cared about his age. frёewebηovel.cѳm

On the contrary, he felt his age was perfect—he wasn’t immature or reckless, and he didn’t do irrational things.

But three years ago, he had done one irrational thing: he had taken her.

The age gap between them was significant. Thirteen years—a full cycle of the zodiac, plus one.

For reasons he couldn’t articulate, he just wanted to possess her.

That desire had never changed, and in fact, it was now even stronger than before.

’He’s so petty,’ she thought, knowing he was angry about what Miss Lynch had said.

"Elliot, I don’t mind our age. Even if I did, it’s not something we can change. The fact is you’re thirteen years older than me. Our age gap isn’t going to shrink just because you’re bothered by it," Georgia Thorne said, blinking. "Besides, they say a man at forty is like a flower in full bloom. You’re only thirty-four—you’re right in your prime!"

A man in his thirties wasn’t green and inexperienced like the young guys fresh out of school. It was the maturity accumulated over years that made Elliot the man he was today.

And though he could be wicked to the core, he was precisely the kind of man who could make a woman feel secure.

Elliot Sheridan’s mood brightened at Georgia’s flattering words. He happened to agree with her.

"Georgia, you really have a sweet way with words."

With that, he kissed Georgia’s lips again.

The two shared a tender moment in the living room for a while before Elliot Sheridan left, just before Nancy Hughes returned.

Georgia made dinner and stored the toiletries Elliot had bought in her own room. If she actually put them in the bathroom, Nancy would definitely freak out.

’Besides, Elliot probably won’t be coming over that often. I’ll just put them away for now,’ she thought.

When Nancy Hughes got home from work, she immediately clung to Georgia’s leg.

"Georgia, Elliot didn’t say he was going to fire me or anything, did he?" Nancy Hughes whined, her face a mask of misery. A second later, she reacted, her eyes darting around the apartment. "Wait, our CEO... he’s not here, is he?!"

"No, he’s already left!" Georgia said, prying her friend’s hands off her. "Don’t worry. With me here, Elliot won’t fire you!"

With Elliot gone, Nancy grew much bolder. She plopped down on the sofa and drank a glass of water to calm her nerves.

"Georgia, even if it’s just for my sake, you have to make things work with Elliot, you hear me?"

Georgia was speechless.

The three-day leave Justin Sullivan had arranged for her came to an end. The next morning, before heading to the office, Georgia went to her mobile service provider to get a replacement SIM card.

’This is so frustrating,’ she thought suddenly. Her things had been stolen. She didn’t care about the money, but her personal documents... what was she going to do about them?

Georgia got back to the office, and just as she sat down, a call came in from Elliot Sheridan.

Startled, she took her phone and walked to a deserted corner before daring to answer.

"Made it to the office?" Elliot’s voice came through the phone. He sounded like he was in a great mood.

Georgia murmured her assent. "And you?"

"Just woke up. The housekeeper is making breakfast."

’Spoken like a true big boss,’ she thought. ’He owns the company, so he’s never late, no matter when he shows up.’

They chatted for a few more moments, with Elliot whispering all sorts of sweet nothings to her over the phone.

Georgia smiled until her ears turned red. She never knew he could be so talkative.

’He’s so good at sweet-talk,’ she thought. After saying their goodbyes, Georgia reminded him to drive safely.

When she returned to her desk, the female colleague next to her noticed her smile. "Georgia, are you dating someone?"

’Is it that obvious?’

Georgia glanced at her reflection. She didn’t look much different than usual.

She smiled, remembering what Elliot had told her yesterday: ’Georgia, you’re my girlfriend now. That’s different from a mistress or just a companion. You can proudly tell people my name and talk about our relationship.’

It seemed Elliot wanted to make their relationship public for everyone to see.

But Georgia was reluctant. For one, she felt their relationship wasn’t stable yet; she didn’t have the confidence she could keep Elliot interested in her forever. For another, there was Selena.

Still, she could at least admit she was dating someone. "Yeah," she said.

"Who is it? Is it Zane Lennox?" her colleague asked, eager for gossip.

"No, he’s just a regular guy," Georgia denied. It was best to put as much distance between herself and Zane Lennox as possible.

Her colleague didn’t seem to believe her. After all, rumors about Georgia and Zane Lennox had already spread throughout the company. "Georgia, you’re not just saying you’re not with Zane because you’re afraid of making us jealous, are you?"

"Believe what you want." It wasn’t him, after all.

Georgia caught the insinuation in her colleague’s tone, and the smile on her own face faded.

She’d spent a fair amount of time with Elliot now, and in some ways, she was slowly starting to become more like him.

The colleague was taken aback by the coldness in Georgia’s eyes. She shot her a strange look before turning back to her own work.

Georgia went back to her work as well.

Three days passed peacefully. Georgia and Elliot talked on the phone every day, and it was finally starting to feel a little like they were actually dating.

Back in school, she used to see her classmates constantly glued to their phones, always texting or calling their significant others.

Elliot was a bit older and didn’t seem to understand things like WeChat, so the two of them just stuck to simple texting and phone calls.
