That was why, in a fit of madness, he had announced to the entire school that he had a girlfriend, specifically naming Georgia Thorne, her department, and her year.

Later, he heard from his classmates that after he’d claimed she was his girlfriend, Georgia Thorne came to his department looking for him every day.

But he understood that she was surely looking for him to clarify that there was nothing between them, so he made himself scarce.
After Georgia Thorne slapped him, he was furious and humiliated, feeling as if all his pride had been shattered on the ground by that one slap.

He slowly reversed the car.
The car backed up until it was beside Georgia Thorne again. Rolling down the window, Zane Lennox said coldly, "Get in!"
Georgia Thorne was a stubborn person. Even if she had to walk until dawn, she wouldn’t get in the car.
Staring straight ahead, she quickened her pace.
How could two legs outrun a four-wheeled car? No matter how fast Georgia Thorne tried to walk, there was no way she could shake Zane Lennox.
Zane Lennox was a man of extremely limited patience. After following her for less than half a minute, he simply stopped the car.
He walked around the front of the car, forcibly swept Georgia Thorne, who was walking ahead, into his arms, and stuffed her into the passenger seat.

They drove in silence, finally stopping in front of the small apartment building where Georgia Thorne lived.
"I’ll ask one more time. What is your relationship with Justin Sullivan!"
He lowered the window, pulled a cigarette from the glove compartment, and lit it.
It had always bothered Zane Lennox that Georgia Thorne had been with a man back in college.
’Was it this man, Justin Sullivan?!’
He took a drag from his cigarette and demanded harshly, "Was Justin Sullivan the man who kept you back then?!"
Hearing this, Georgia Thorne’s eyelid twitched violently. In a tone of disbelief, she said, "Zane Lennox, have you lost your mind?!"
’But how could he possibly connect Justin Sullivan with the man who kept me?!’

"That’s right, I have lost my mind!"
He slammed his clenched fist into the steering wheel, unleashing a piercing HONK.
"Georgia Thorne, are you in love with that Justin Sullivan guy?!" ’If I weren’t going crazy, how could I possibly be this jealous over her!’
"Don’t tell me you don’t like him! A person’s eyes don’t lie! I saw it clearly; your eyes never left him all day!"

In Zane Lennox’s eyes, Georgia Thorne’s bitter smile and silent expression seemed like a tacit admission.
This caused a fire of rage to burn fiercely in his heart. He honestly wished he could just strangle her and be done with it, saving himself all this trouble.
The cigarette between his fingers slowly burned to ash, which scattered out the window on the wind.
But the acrid smoke remained in the car, blowing into Georgia Thorne’s eyes.
Her dry eyes instantly started to itch again.

"Nothing between you, yet he holds your hand? Georgia Thorne, you really have your methods, juggling all sorts of men! And now you’ve come to seduce me. Are you having fun playing me for a fool? Do you think I’m a joke?" He threw away the cigarette butt, clenched his fist, and once again slammed it hard against the steering wheel.
His chest was full of rage with no outlet.
The humiliating words fell on Georgia Thorne’s ears, and the color drained from her face, leaving it pale in an instant.

Grasping her wrist, his palm burning hot, Zane Lennox leaned close to her. "That’s right, I’m the one who came after you this time. But don’t you forget who came onto me first!"
It was a warning for her to stay away from other men from now on.
Georgia Thorne’s back slammed into the gear stick, and she bit down hard against the pain. Just as she was about to break free of his grasp, Zane Lennox had already flung her hand away.
’What a narcissistic madman. As if anyone ever wanted to come onto him.’
She quickly fled from Zane Lennox and escaped the car.
Standing outside, she remembered something. Zane Lennox was a stubborn man. Right now, he was convinced that Justin Sullivan was the man from her past, and he would definitely go looking for trouble with him.
She bent down again and, looking at the man in the car, said, "Zane Lennox, there’s one thing I need you to be clear on. My relationship with Justin Sullivan is not what you imagine. He’s been abroad for the past six years!"
