Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Eating Like a Child, It’s All Over Your Mouth
Honestly, Zane Lennox’s eloquence and imagination were on another level.
He could call black white and spin stories out of thin air, making them sound as if they had actually happened.
She could still recall his contemptuous tone. And after the incident at the infirmary, she had clearly walked back by herself.
Georgia Thorne didn’t refute Zane Lennox’s fabrications.
Her silence was as good as an admission.
Hearing Zane Lennox talk about their past, Justin Sullivan felt it didn’t sound made up.
The meal ended with Selena Sheridan and Zane Lennox in high spirits.
Zane Lennox rushed to pay the bill, insisting that since Selena was Georgia’s good friend, this meal had to be on him.
Selena Sheridan linked her arm with Georgia Thorne’s, whispering ear to ear, "Georgia, I’m so jealous. You have such a perfect boyfriend."
Georgia Thorne let out a bitter laugh. The elevator was small, and no matter how quietly Selena spoke, the two men beside them would hear.
Georgia envied Selena, too, because Selena had the one person she could never have in this lifetime.
Zane Lennox’s car was in the underground garage. He went to drive it over so his girlfriend wouldn’t have to walk far.
Selena Sheridan gasped, "Oh no! I think I left my phone in the private room!"
She rummaged through her handbag but couldn’t find it. "I’ll go back and look for it. Jean, wait for me."
With Zane Lennox getting the car and Selena Sheridan returning to the room, Georgia Thorne and Justin Sullivan were suddenly left alone together for a brief moment.
The rage he had suppressed for over an hour surged up. He grabbed Georgia Thorne’s wrist. "Is what Zane Lennox said true? Are you two dating?"
"Yes! We are!" Georgia, terrified of being alone with Justin, tried to wrench her arm free. "Let go of me!"
Anxiously, Georgia glanced around, terrified someone would see them struggling.
"I don’t believe you. Georgia, there’s no way you could like him!" Justin Sullivan tightened his grip on her wrist, his voice agitated.
The way you look at someone you love is special.
But when Georgia looked at Zane Lennox, her gaze held no warmth at all. That’s why he absolutely refused to believe she had fallen for someone else.
"Believe what you want. Just let go of me now!" Georgia’s heart pounded in panic, afraid that Selena would suddenly reappear and see this.
Justin Sullivan didn’t let go. He didn’t want to.
He didn’t believe Georgia could fall for Zane Lennox, but he was jealous all the same. freewebnoveℓ.com
When Zane Lennox could openly care for Georgia and do all the things a boyfriend should, he was consumed with jealousy.
Inside him lived a demon called jealousy, and it was growing wild.
Zane Lennox drove up quickly.
In the glare of the high beams, he saw a man and a woman struggling together at the restaurant entrance.
His face turned ashen with fury. He slammed his hand on the horn.
The piercing honk immediately drew their attention.
Zane Lennox got out of the car and strode toward them, seething with anger.
’Just as I thought, this Justin Sullivan is a scumbag. He has Selena Sheridan, but he’s still trying to make a move on Georgia.’
"Mr. Sullivan, isn’t it a bit inappropriate for you to be grabbing my Georgia’s hand like that?" freewēbnoveℓ.com
Zane Lennox was smiling, but the chilling aura radiating from his cold eyes felt dangerous.
"This is between Georgia and me. It has nothing to do with you!" Justin Sullivan’s voice was taut.
He disliked Zane Lennox just as much.
Zane Lennox raised an eyebrow. ’Georgia? Calling her so intimately?’
"Mr. Sullivan, forcing a woman to do something she doesn’t want to is not gentlemanly behavior. I suggest you let go of my girlfriend," Zane Lennox sneered, spitting the words out through gritted teeth.
For a fleeting moment, his eyes, fixed on Justin Sullivan, were bloodshot.
He couldn’t stand seeing another man touch Georgia’s body—he wouldn’t even allow a single hair to be touched.
Following suit, he grabbed Georgia’s other hand, holding it firmly in his own.
"That’s enough! Both of you, let go of me!" Georgia roared, feeling like she was about to be driven insane by these two men.
’How did things end up like this? Could someone please tell me!’
The two men glared at each other, a frigid aura emanating from them. Neither was willing to back down.
Neither would let go of Georgia’s hand. The first one to let go would be the loser.
And Justin Sullivan was the complete and utter loser.
Zane Lennox spotted Selena Sheridan walking out and called out cheerfully, "Miss Sheridan, over here!"
The moment he spoke, Justin Sullivan instinctively let go of Georgia.
Georgia looked down at the red marks on her right wrist, her eyes stinging as she lowered her gaze.
Justin Sullivan was positioned well. When Selena Sheridan came out of the restaurant, she only saw the three of them standing by the entrance, with no idea what they were doing.
From Selena’s angle, she couldn’t see that Justin had been holding Georgia’s hand.
"Why are you all just standing here?" Selena hadn’t seen a thing, except for Zane Lennox intimately holding Georgia’s hand.
"I just brought the car around. Do you two need a ride?"
"No, thanks. Jean drove too. I’ll just go with him."
After saying their goodbyes, Georgia Thorne got into Zane Lennox’s car and watched the scene behind them in the rearview mirror.
Heedless of any onlookers, Selena Sheridan gave Justin Sullivan a big hug.
He must have said something, because Selena covered her mouth, trying to hide a smile.
Zane Lennox’s expression was already sour, but seeing Georgia’s eyes glued to the rearview mirror, he angrily knocked it askew.
Georgia turned her head, her eyes having unknowingly turned red-rimmed. "Let me out at the next intersection."
Zane Lennox actually did as she asked, slamming on the brakes and screeching to a halt right at the intersection.
His maneuver forced the cars behind them to swerve to get by.
A silence fell over the cramped car.
The central lock was engaged; Georgia Thorne couldn’t push the door open.
She turned her head to look at him. "Could you please unlock the doors?"
"Georgia Thorne, what exactly is your relationship with Justin Sullivan?!"
Zane Lennox was furious. He hadn’t intended to ask about her relationship with Justin so bluntly, but when he saw Georgia’s red-rimmed eyes glistening with tears, his jealousy exploded.
’Who are those red eyes for?’
’In the past few hours, she’s only seen two men: me and Justin Sullivan.’
Suddenly, the sharp sound of a slap echoed through the quiet car.
In the dim light of the car, she couldn’t see the five-fingered mark on Zane Lennox’s handsome face, but she could feel her own hand tingling.
’She hadn’t held back at all.’
Useless, unbidden tears streamed from her eyes, blurring her vision. "I want to get out!"
He had seen her eyes red like this before—the time she had cried and slapped herself hard in public. This time was no different.
He licked the inside of his cheek where he’d been hit, a vicious glint in his eyes. "Georgia Thorne, you’ve got some nerve!"
He unlocked the doors, and Georgia Thorne quickly got out.
Zane Lennox sped off.
Georgia Thorne kept walking forward. This wasn’t a good area; it was hard to hail a cab, and there were no bus stops around.
Unfamiliar with the area, she could only press onward.
As Zane Lennox drove away, he grew angrier the more he thought about it. He watched Georgia in the car’s rearview mirror, her figure slowly shrinking in the darkness until she disappeared.
He was both furious and reluctant to leave her.
Sometimes, he really wished he could just strangle Georgia Thorne with his own hands. Then, he wouldn’t have so many problems.
He hadn’t liked Georgia Thorne in the past, believing she had deliberately schemed to get close to him, and once she’d made a good impression, she planned to tie him down with marriage.
