Chapter 175: Chapter 166: No One Can Help You But Me

’Perhaps this was an opportunity to reconnect with the Sheridan Group.’

Mason Morgan had a few drinks before a phone call summoned him away.

Jared Thorne and Hayley Sullivan plastered on smiles and dragged Georgia Thorne along to see Mason Morgan out.

Before getting into his car, Mason Morgan slipped a business card into Georgia Thorne’s pocket and chuckled softly. "Miss Thorne, if anything urgent comes up, feel free to call me anytime."

"President Morgan, take care!" Georgia Thorne forced a smile, gritting her teeth.

Once Mason Morgan was gone, the smile vanished from Georgia Thorne’s face. She spun around to face Hayley Sullivan. "Don’t you dare touch my mother’s grave!"

"Fine. As long as you keep Mason Morgan happy and save the Thorne Family, I guarantee your mom’s grave will be left untouched."

Georgia Thorne desperately wanted to slap Hayley Sullivan across the face. "You’ll get what’s coming to you one day!"

"Georgia Thorne, is that any way to speak to your stepmother?!" Jared Thorne scolded, his brows furrowed in a cold glare.

Georgia Thorne sneered. "And you have the nerve to say you loved my mother. It’s clear how much that was worth."

Georgia Thorne was disgusted by their hypocrisy.

When the Thorne Family was wealthy, she was a burden in their eyes. Now that the family was in trouble, she had become their pawn.

Her part was done, and she didn’t want to face them a moment longer. She turned and walked briskly toward the bus station.

"What was that she said? That Yara Joyce was the woman you loved?"

Hayley Sullivan was instantly displeased by Georgia Thorne’s words. She turned to look at Jared Thorne.

"I never said that. Are you really going to believe what a little girl says?" Jared Thorne explained hurriedly, not wanting to fall out with Hayley Sullivan at such a critical time.

"Hmph! Jared Thorne, don’t think I don’t know about all your little affairs..."

"Alright, alright, let’s talk about this inside!"

Jared Thorne put his arm around Hayley Sullivan’s shoulder and guided her back toward the house, changing the subject. "By the way, have you asked Justin Sullivan? What did he say?"

"I can’t even get a meeting with him, so what is there to say!" Hayley Sullivan grew angry just thinking about it. She had gone to the Sullivan estate three or four times but hadn’t caught a single glimpse of Justin Sullivan.

Four years ago, when the Thorne Family was on the brink of bankruptcy, the first person Jared Thorne thought to ask for help was Hayley Sullivan’s family.

Back then, Silas Sullivan was still in charge.

Silas Sullivan, feeling guilty toward his wife and daughter, invested a sum of money into Jared Thorne’s company without a second thought.

But now, Justin Sullivan held the company’s financial reins. The first time they’d asked, he had stated clearly that he would not be lending them any money.

Otherwise, Jared Thorne would never have resorted to asking Mason Morgan for a loan.

After that, Justin Sullivan became completely unreachable.

’They never should have let Justin Sullivan into the Sullivan family in the first place.’

Georgia Thorne returned to her apartment, exhausted. Downstairs, she saw a familiar car.

She pretended not to see it and walked right past.

Justin Sullivan immediately opened his door and got out, letting it slam shut behind him.

"Nina!"

’The Thorne Family was on its last legs; Hayley Sullivan was bound to ask Justin Sullivan for money.’

’There was no way Justin Sullivan didn’t know.’

She took a deep breath, turned to face him, and forced a smile. "Justin, it’s late. What can I do for you?"

"I can help the Thorne Family."

Justin Sullivan had been waiting. He’d been waiting for Georgia Thorne to come to him, but his patience was wearing thin.

Ever since Hayley Sullivan had come to see him, Justin Sullivan had people keeping a close watch on Jared Thorne.

When he learned that Jared Thorne had invited Mason Morgan to his home tonight, he panicked.

He couldn’t wait another second and had rushed over in his car to find her.

Georgia Thorne made a noncommittal sound. "You should say that to Hayley Sullivan. I’m sure she’d be much happier to hear it."

"Right now, I’m the only one who can help you!" Justin Sullivan took a step forward, his dark eyes gazing at her intently. "Nina, will you be my wife?"

"I thought I made myself perfectly clear last time. No matter what happens, there is no future for us!"

"So you’d rather let some old man defile you than choose me?"

"Yes, that’s right! Justin Sullivan, my life is none of your business!"

With that, Georgia Thorne turned and fled up the stairs.

’Half a year can change a person so much.’

’Take Justin Sullivan, for example.’

’He had become ruthless. He’d watched her fall into peril and done nothing to help. He had learned to take advantage of her predicament, using marriage to blackmail her.’

’Even if Selena Sheridan wasn’t standing between them, she could never be with this version of Justin Sullivan.’

’There was a new cruelty in his eyes, something predatory.’

Georgia Thorne sat on her bed in a daze, the room dark around her.
