Chapter 1185: Chapter 1185: You Make Me Hurt Even More
The sky was too dark. Watt Bennet lifted his face to look upward, but he couldn’t see anything clearly.
He was about to continue walking when suddenly, a faint voice reached his ears, "Adrian..."
Watt’s back stiffened, and he abruptly raised his face.
The night in the mountains was too dark. The only tool he had for illumination was his phone.
He turned on the phone’s flashlight and shone it upwards.
Above him was a huge tree, growing on the cliffside, two or three meters above him.
The branches and leaves were lush and numerous, blocking part of Watt’s view.
"Adrian..." Summer Sutton’s voice sounded again from above, low and a bit weak, seemingly in pain.
Watt stared upwards for a good while. His heart, which had been anxious all day, finally calmed down at this moment.
She was still conscious, which at least meant she was okay.
If she fell onto the tree, she probably wouldn’t be too badly hurt.
Watt looked around, found a branch hanging down from the tree, and used it to climb up.
Amid the dense foliage, he found Summer Sutton still hanging on the tree. Holding her with one arm, Watt slowly climbed down the tree.
Back on the ground, he looked at her disheveled appearance and seemed particularly angry.
A fire was building in his chest, and he yelled at her, "How old are you? Can’t you be more careful? Why do you always end up hurting yourself? Do you know how worried I was looking for you today?"
His every word was almost a roar.
Summer Sutton’s ears were a bit sore from his shouting, but she didn’t dare to retort.
Watt’s anger didn’t seem to subside. After putting her down, he kept taking deep breaths.
He seemed to be holding himself back, unable to find an outlet for his rage, irritably tugging at his collar repeatedly.
His gaze shifted to her beside him. Thinking about how she’d been caught in the rain in the mountains all day, he felt an overwhelming sense of heartache for her.
Watt was truly at a loss with her, took a deep breath, and crouched down to examine Summer Sutton’s injuries.
"Where are you hurt? Can you walk normally?"
"I can’t." Summer Sutton didn’t even move her limbs, she just answered him directly.
Watt found her response strange. Normally, you’d test it out to know your condition, right?
However, thinking that maybe her leg hurt badly and that’s why she said it, Watt didn’t pay it much mind.
"Let’s go back first, and I’ll check you over once we’re back." It was still raining, and the mountain was pitch dark, making it inconvenient to examine her. Watt turned his back to her, carrying her slowly down the mountain.
Summer Sutton lay quietly on his back, turned her face to look at his tightly drawn face, and a small smile curved her lips. Her arms unconsciously hugged him a bit tighter.
"Does it hurt?" Watt asked as he walked.
"Yes," Summer Sutton replied to him.
Her tone didn’t actually sound very painful.
But Watt didn’t catch that.
His anger had already calmed a bit, but upon hearing her say it hurt, he flared up again.
"Why can’t you take better care of yourself? If it hurts, why not be more careful?" he yelled at her again, exasperated.
"Ah, it seems to hurt even more." Summer Sutton pretended not to hear him, playfully rubbing her leg.
Watt, "..."
What kind of logic is this?
Can he actually make her hurt more by yelling?
