Chapter 506: Chapter 506 - Epilogue(Part 6)

"Okay, I guess this isn’t so bad...I never got the appeal before, I always figured it’d be way better to just relax at home and drink instead," Remarked Celt, as he sipped on a beer.

"Well, there’s nothing wrong with that, I like to chill and drink or smoke at home myself. But I think it’s nice to come out to a bar every so often, just for a change in pace," I replied with a wry smile.

It’s now been about eight months since we took over Carns City and turned it onto the independent nation of Larcelaru, and things have continued to progress pretty smoothly.

We haven’t had any attacks in the last couple of months or so, no one’s come anywhere near our Monster-infested border. I used World Map to spy on the leaders of Hyuma, and it seems they’ve decided to just give up on this place and write it off. fгeewebnovёl.com

Well, they have lost a ton of Adventurers in trying to breach the wall. Most of them were killed by the Monsters, Celes and I have barely needed to lift a finger this whole time. The area surrounding the wall around our region is now probably one of the most treacherous areas on the continent, if not the entire world, so our security’s pretty solid.

It was currently early in the night, the sun had set a short while ago, and I’d met up with Celt at a bar, just to hang out and have a few drinks.

"So, how’s life treating ya these days? Anything new going on with you?" I asked him.

"No, not really. But that isn’t a bad thing, I’m more than happy to just maintain this peaceful status quo," He replied without hesitation.

Hey, I can definitely relate to that. I mean, it’s literally the core of my main goal.

"Yeah, can’t argue that. But it’s certainly not a bad thing to get some new experiences. Like, how’s your love life going? Don’t think I’ve ever asked you about it before," I mused thoughtfully.

"Fine, I guess. I have dated a few times, but those didn’t really work out. Romance is a lot of work, so these days, I just go to the red light district," He responded with a shrug.

The city already had a red light district, but the sex workers were treated like slaves, abused on a regular basis. I implemented strict regulations to ensure that they’d be protected, and also properly compensated for their work.

As a result, the brothels are absolutely booming, service has improved which means more demand. I didn’t know Celt was making use of those services too though, he doesn’t really strike me as the type.

Well, I’m certainly not going to judge him for it, to each their own. I’d probably give it go too, if I didn’t have a girlfriend, and whatever Arucei is to our relationship. Huh, I should probably bring it up to Celes and figure that out.

I’m trying not to get too attached to anyone besides her, since she and I are the only immortals in Larcelaru, but that’s not something that’s easy to control.

The more time you spent with people, the more attached you’re going to get, that’s only natural. And now that I’m not as pessimistic as I was when I first reincarnated in this world, I figured I might as well live life to the fullest instead of worrying about the distant future.

"Well, I say just go with the flow and see where life takes you. Who knows, maybe you’ll eventually meet someone you really click with," I replied encouragingly.

"Or two, like you," He responded wryly.

"Yeah, I’ve been pretty lucky in the romance department. And speaking from experience, it’s really great having someone you can trust unconditionally and be vulnerable with."

"I suppose, but it’s hard finding people you can trust. There’s no way to know for sure what another person is thinking, someone who might seem like the sweetest person in the world could turn out to be completely evil on the inside, that freaks me out," He sighed wistfully.

Considering that he was constantly oppressed and insulted by the Noble Adventurers when they were around, I suppose it’s understandable that he’d be wary of people and have trust issues.

I’ve had my own fair share of trust issues in the past, so I get it. I hope he eventually works through it, it isn’t something he’ll get over overnight, but given enough time...

"Just take it one day at a time, live your life exactly the way you want to. In the grand scheme of things, it really hasn’t been that long since your quality of life improved. The way I see it, the more you get used to it and the more natural it starts to feel, your perspective on life will slowly but surely change, without you even realizing it."

"You really think so? I’m not so sure," He responded skeptically.

"Think about this way...if you live a tough, unfair life, you’re more likely to have a pessimistic perspective on life. And if you like a happy, peaceful like, you’re like to be more optimistic," I pointed out.

"Huh...yeah, I guess that makes sense. I suppose I’ll just have to wait and see what happens," He replied, as he took a sip of his beer.

"Mhm, there’s no need to get impatient or rush anything, you’ve got all the time in the world ahead of you."

"I mean, I was planning on taking it easy either way," He shrugged in response.

Yeah, sounds about right, given his personality.

"Well, like you said, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. For right now, let’s just clear our minds and enjoy the moment," I grinned, as I held my mug out towards him.

"Yeah, agreed, let’s get wasted," He nodded, clinking his mug against mine.

"Uh, not what I said, but sure, why not?" I replied with a wry smile.
