Chapter 496: Chapter 496 - Conquest(Part 1)
"So, this is the place, huh? It’s a pretty big city, nice. You two ready?" I inquired, as I stretched my arms out.
"Mhm, ready as I’ll ever be!" Nodded Celes, a gleam in her eyes as she slammed her fists together.
"Yeah, me too. Let’s do this," Responded Arucei, a determined look on her face.
Today’s the day, we’re attacking Carns City and taking it over. It was around midday, the sun’s out and there’s hardly a cloud in the sky, with a pleasant breeze blowing across.
It’s a really nice day, and if all goes according to plan, it’ll be even nicer soon enough. Our plan was set, we’d spent time discussing and refining it for days, until we were satisfied.
"Alright, then. Let’s go," I remarked, cracking my knuckles.
"Hell, yeah," Grinned Celes, as we began heading towards the city.
"Finally," Muttered Arucei, as she followed after us.
The three of us split up as we approached the city, targeting different areas. I flew up and shot towards the barrier surrounding the city, transforming my hands into blades before slicing right through the barrier and flying into the city.
Several alarmed cries rang out from the civilians as I shot through the air, making a beeline towards a specific building...we’d used World Map to survey the city pretty thoroughly, and we know exactly who and where to target.
It soon came into sight, the Adventurers’ Guild, the place I’d be targeting. I drew back my fist before driving it forward, smashing through the front wall and bursting into the building, startled yells ringing out from inside.
"What the...?!"
"N-No way, is that a Unique Monster?!"
"Impossible, how-...?!"
"Alright, I’ll cut right to the chase. I’m going to be taking over this city, I’ll wipe out all the corrupt Nobles and their supporters, and develop and prosperous, independent place where everyone can live peacefully. If that appeals to you, surrender and I promise that no harm will come to you. But if you’re opposed to it, you die," I stated bluntly.
"Huh?"
"Do you have any idea where you are, you cocky Monster?! You’re surrounded by Adventurers, there’s no way you’ll ever-...!" One of them began, before I shot forward and swung my right arm across, slicing through his neck and severing his head before he could react.
His head hit the floor and rolled away, a thud echoing out as his body went limp and collapsed, blood gushing out of the stump left around his neck.
"Anyone else got any objections?" I inquired coldly, as I glanced around the space.
Hm, I don’t see or sense any S-Ranks in the building, but there should be a few in the city. Oh, well, I’m sure they’ll show up eventually.
"K-Kill it!" ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
"Let’s all attack at the same time!"
I swiftly manifested Magic Eater before I shot up towards the ceiling as a barrage of attacks came shooting in towards me, deafening crashes ringing out as the attacked converged and collided against each other, before I rapidly swooped down as I split my tail in two and extended them out, whipping them around with immense force.
Agonized cries of pain rang out all around me as I tore the Adventurers apart, making sure not to hurt any of the ones who weren’t attacking.
As another barrage of attacks came shooting towards me, I snapped my jaws open before unleashing a roaring wave of blue flames, blowing the attacks away before I shot forward, swinging my arms out as I continued to whip my tails all around the space.
Blood was splattered all over the walls and floor, severed body parts strewn about everywhere, cries of pain and desperate yells echoing out, as I massacred the Adventurers in the building in a matter of minutes, only leaving a few of them alive.
"Right, then...the fact that none of you attacked me, I take it that means you’re Commoners?" I inquired, the Adventurers flinching as I glanced between them.
Well, considering the brutal display I just put on, I guess I can’t blame them for that reaction.
"Y-Yes, we are."
"Wh-What do you want from us?"
"Exactly what I said before, I want to create a prosperous, peaceful place to live in. But I can’t run this entire place by myself, so I’ll need residents. To that end, I’ll be eliminating everyone who resists, but I won’t so much as scratch anyone who doesn’t attack me. Go out and spread the word to the Commoners in the city...I’ll liberate you from the rule of the Nobles who look down upon you and oppress you," I explained.
"R-Really? That’s-..."
"Hold on, we...we can’t just take him at his word!"
"Yeah, that’s fair. But, think about it...what do you have to lose? Are you fine with the way you’re being treated on a day to day basis? Being at the mercy of people who just so happened to be born into more fortunate circumstances? Sure, I could just be some deceptive Monster that’s here to enslave you or whatever.
But, then, exactly how different is that to the way you’re currently being treated? So, by cooperating with me, either nothing changes, or things change drastically for the better. It’s not just me, by the way, I’ve got two others who are around, or at least close, to my level helping me with this, so this is far from a long shot," I stated, before waiting for their response.
"Fuck it. The way things currently are, this isn’t a life worth living. He’s right, there’s nothing to lose, and everything to gain. Alright, then, we’ll spread the word."
"I don’t know..."
"I think I agree, I can’t imagine things getting too much worse than they already are, and if there’s a chance that we can change things for the better, I say we take it."
A few of them were still a bit on the fence, but they seemed to have reached a cautious consensus. They left the building and split up, rushing off in different directions throughout the city. ƒrēewebnovel.com
Alright, time to-...
Suddenly, a devastating blast of lightning came shooting in towards me from the entrance, which I just barely managed to swallow up with Magic Eater, before narrowing my gaze at the entrance as a figure approached.
"Huh, you a Unique Monster? That certainly explains this mess...but you’re fresh outta luck, Monster, you’re up against the strongest S-Rank in Carns City," He greeted me with a smirk.
"Are you, now? Good...this saves me the trouble of having to hunt you down myself."
