Chapter 495: Chapter 495 - Ease Your Nerves

"You know, I’ve encountered plenty of Telekinetic Mages before, but none of them had as much natural talent as you do. At first, I thought maybe you didn’t have a knack for combat, but with the way you improved after getting into a groove, it was clear that what was holding you back was a lack of confidence, not a lack of talent," Remarked Celes thoughtfully, as she took a puff of a joint and passed it to Arucei.

"You really think so? Well, I suppose I can’t deny it...before I met you guys, I never really believed in myself. While I knew I had the potential to become an S-Rank, I didn’t actually think that I’d be capable of achieving it, I thought my potential was wasted on me. After I lost my family, everyone around me always put me down for so long, but you two aren’t like that, you’ve been encouraging me, and praising me when I do well. And, well, your advice and guidance has also been a huge factor, there’s no way I could’ve come up with some of the ideas and new techniques I’ve tried out by myself," Replied Arucei, looking a bit embarrassed.

Another week has passed, making it a bit over five weeks since Arucei joined us. And at this point, she’s plenty strong enough to make a massive difference in our plan to conquer that city.

Speaking of which, we’ll be making our move in three days. We’ll attack the city, kill everyone who resists, and all the corrupt Nobles too, and then take the place for ourselves.

Arucei will take over ruling the place, Celes and I will serve as the protectors in return for a nice place to live, and that’ll be that.

Of course, it’s probably easier said than done, but I’m feeling pretty good about it. We’ve been observing the city through World Map, and Arucei has pointed out the Adventurers who would be likely to join our side, as well as which ones we’d need to target and kill.

Celes also recognized a few of them, so we know what most of them are capable of now. Even if and when the plan does succeed and we take over the city, we’ll still have a lot of work to do to make sure we can sustain living there in the long-term.

We’ve got some pretty solid ideas on how to go about that, but implementing those ideas will take some time and effort. And we won’t be able to take our time with it, we’ll need to at least put the necessary defensive measures in place before anyone shows up to try and take back control of the city.

"How are you feeling about our plan? We’ll make our move pretty soon, you ready for it?" I asked Arucei, as I took a puff of the joint and exhaled through my nostrils.

"Yeah, I think so...I am a bit nervous, sure, but I’m definitely ready. Finally, I’ll be able to make them pay, everyone who made my life more difficult. They’ll get what they deserve soon enough," She responded with a determined look on her face.

"Nice, that’s the spirit. I’ve got some revenge of my own to get, there are plenty of people in Carns City that tormented me in the past. I’ll make them regret ever being born, you can be damned sure of that," Declared Celes, as she slammed her right fist against her left palm.

"Mhm, revenge is great. I got revenge in my previous life, and it felt awesome. Hope you two manage to get that satisfaction when we attack the city," I remarked with a smile.

"Yeah, I’m gonna miss this cave, though. Considering how long we’ve been living here, it really feels like home," Celes sighed wistfully.

"True, it’s going to be an adjustment, that’s for sure. But I think it’ll be nice to finally have a proper roof over our heads and sleep in real beds," I responded wryly.

"I guess so."

"Well, we shouldn’t get too far ahead of ourselves. We need to take this one step at a time, we can’t afford to make any mistakes," I pointed out objectively.

"If things do go wrong, don’t hesitate to run away, you two," Remarked Arucei, looking a bit conflicted.

"Oh, we will, but the same goes for you too. Retreat immediately if things go south, there’s no point in fighting a losing battle, better to live to fight another day," I reasoned prudently.

"I mean, yeah, I have no intention of throwing my life away, it’s just...if I’m in a situation where I don’t have the option of retreat, for instance, you should leave me behind." fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

"Nah, I don’t think we will. At any rate, I doubt it’ll come to that, all things considered. Larrk and I aside, you’ve become quite the force to be reckoned with yourself at this point. Unless some of the Adventurers in the city have made drastic improvements of their own, I don’t think there are any individuals that’d be a genuine threat to any of us," Responded Celes confidently.

"Maybe so, but don’t let your guard down just because of that. Even if there aren’t any individuals who’s be serious threats on their own, it could be a different story if they use their numbers against us, so treat everyone you fight like a threat, even if it’s clear that they aren’t," I advised her.

"Okay, I’m starting to get a bit more nervous now. I really want this to work out, but I can’t help but think about what’ll happen if we fail," Frowned Arucei, a worried look on her face.

"In that case, we’ll just have to ease your nerves," Smirked Celes, scooting over beside Arucei, before adding as she leaned in towards her ear and cupped one of her breasts, "What do you say?"

"I-I, um-...y-yeah, okay," She nodded as her face turned red, a gleam in her eyes as she gulped slightly...
