Chapter 489: Chapter 489 - Anything

"Wooo! This is so much fun!" Exclaimed Celes gleefully, as she unleashed fierce blasts of black lightning down at the bandit’s hideout, while I fired out roaring bursts of blue flames, setting the ruins ablaze.

"Careful with your aim, we don’t want to end up starting a forest fire or something," I pointed out, as I extended out my tail, splitting it in half and swinging it around, loud crashes ringing out as I sliced through several large chunks of concrete, which slammed onto the ground with devastating impacts.

"Yeah, I know. We have no way to douse flames if we set the place on fire, so-..."

"Actually, I’ll be able to put it out by swallowing up the flames with Magic Eater. But if the flames spread fast, that’ll be a real pain to deal with," I sighed, before picking up a large pillar with my tail, lifting it high up into the air before launching it down with a sharp flick of my tail.

The ground collapsed as the pillar slammed onto it with a deafening crash, a cloud of dust rising up.

As we continued blasting the ruins, it wasn’t long before we’d devastated the entire area, nothing but a large pile of rubble left in its wake, thick clouds of dust billowing out.

"Aw, guess this means the fun’s over," Celes sighed wistfully.

"Yeah, looks like it. Come on, let’s head back to the cave, I’m getting sleepy," I smiled, stretching my arms up.

"Okay, sounds good. But before we go to sleep...," She trailed off suggestively, as she took hold of my hand.

"Sure, why not?" I smirked, kissing her forehead. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

"Yay! Hm? Oh, looks like those women left, guess we must have scared them off. Hopefully, we scared them enough that they’ll keep quiet about us," She frowned warily.

"Well, it’s not like they know where we live. So even if they did tell someone, it shouldn’t be a problem."

"Yeah, that’s true. Plus, it’d be nice to get a proper fight, those bandits were so weak. Huh, I guess that means it’d be better if they didn’t keep quiet about us," Mused Celes thoughtfully.

"Maybe, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens, I suppose. Alright, let’s get going."

The two of then began flying back to the cave, using World Map like GPS to guide us. We’ve never been to this area before, after all, so we have no idea how to get back without a map.

World Map has proven to be one of my most useful Skills, I wouldn’t have found the bandits in the first place without it, and who knows how long it would’ve taken to get back to the cave without it?

We swooped down as the cave came into sight, landing in the area outside it. As we began to head towards the entrance, I stopped and turned my gaze back, feeling like someone was watching me.

"Hm? What’s wrong, Larrk?"

"I think we might have been followed. Whoever’s out there, show yourself! You only get one warning! Three! Two! One!" I called out as I charged up a swirling blue fireball.

Suddenly, a rustling sound echoed out from the bushes, before a figure rushed out in alarm.

"W-Wait, don’t kill me!"

Huh? It’s one of the women we freed, among the group that had been kidnapped tonight. She must have hidden and waited while we were blasting the bandits’ hideout, and then followed us when we flew back.

She looked like she was in her late teens, with straight, light blue hair that went a bit past her shoulders and covered her forehead, with a dark blue hairband over the middle of her head. She had orange eyes, a fair complexion, and was on the shorter side, with a slender build.

She wore glasses with a red frame, a knee-length white dress with short sleeves and a swirly blue pattern, with a metal breastplate over her chest, black gauntlets on her arms that went up past her elbows and matching black boots that covered her knees.

"Why’d you follow us? Were you trying to attack us in our sleep or something? Who are you?" Inquired Celes, sparks of black lightning crackling around her fingers.

"N-No, I wasn’t going to attack you! My name is Arucei Drea, and I have a request! I saw how powerful you two are, it was unlike anything I’ve ever seen before...I want to ask for you help, please-...," She began pleadingly.

"Yeah, no," I cut her off.

"Hard pass," Added Celes in unison.

"P-Please, at least hear me out. I’m from Carns City, and I’d like your help in overthrowing the ruling lord of the city."

"Huh? You don’t look like you’re a Commoner, so why would you want to have another Noble killed?" Frowned Celes suspiciously.

"I am a Noble, but a really low ranking one. My family had been rising up and growing our wealth, but the other Nobles who were higher ranked than my family was didn’t like that and had my family assassinated. They tried to kill me too, but I managed to fight off the assassins. Honestly, I’d been planning on running away before I got abducted, I joined that party because I thought it’d be a good opportunity to fake my own death and go into hiding," She explained, following after us as we headed for the cave.

"Yeah, that’s sad and all, but we’re not going to get involved in any of that," I responded dryly.

"Please, I’ll do anything! You’re Unique Monsters, aren’t you? That means you’re powerful enough to help me, I want to see the city changed for the better, but I can’t do it on my own!" She pleaded desperately.

"Doesn’t seem like she’s going to take no for an answer. Maybe we could just scare her off with a few warning attacks?" Suggested Celes quietly.

"I’m begging you, please help me! Like I said, I’ll do anything!"

"Hm...anything, you say?" Responded Celes, glancing back at her with a gleam in her eyes.

Not sure I like that look, what’s she planning?
