Chapter 2172: Chapter 2075: Fuming with Rage
After cursing out the security team captain, Tranleva still couldn’t calm his anger. But he knew full well that hitting someone wouldn’t solve the problem. He called his men and opened the warehouse, heading inside.
He originally intended for his men to audit what had been lost from the warehouse. But as he looked around, his anger only grew. By the end, Tranleva’s face was completely dark.
The scene inside the warehouse was truly shocking.
He had personally supervised the setup of the warehouse, and he knew best what was inside.
The warehouse held a lot of valuable items - gold, antiques, firearms, and ammunition - none of which were in short supply. But now, everything inside had been cleaned out, leaving only some worthless junk.
Even so, money and such are merely external possessions. Although he had spent a lot of effort acquiring these items, he believed that as long as the mainstay remains, he could retrieve those things again, so Tranleva didn’t think much of it. It pained him, but he could bear it.
But then, with a turn of his head, he discovered that the newly developed drugs were also gone. He hadn’t even tested them himself yet. Due to a busy schedule, he’d left them at the base, untouched. Now, however, they had vanished without a trace.
Tranleva was startled and suddenly realized something. He quickly looked in the direction of his safe.
Upon seeing it, his eyes nearly popped out, and he tasted something sweet in his throat. His vision nearly went dark. The long-suppressed anger since he learned about the warehouse breach surged to the top of his head. He felt the world spinning and staggered a few steps. If not for a quick-handed subordinate supporting him, he might have collapsed to the ground, passing out.
"Boss, boss, what’s wrong with you? Are you okay?"
The nearby subordinates noticed Tranleva’s odd expression and panicked. They hurriedly gathered around him, anxiously calling his name.
Taking deep breaths, Tranleva slowly calmed himself. His gaze fixated on that section of the wall, his face instantly turned somber, with shadows swirling in his eyes.
There was now a large, gaping hole in that wall, with a few bare wires sticking out. The safe, originally installed and embedded within this wall, was nowhere to be found.
Tranleva’s agitation stemmed precisely from discovering the loss of this safe.
Inside the safe, only some cash and gold bars were openly kept, along with the core materials of a newly developed drug.
For Tranleva, losing the money or even the materials wasn’t the issue. He had prepared for the worst once he knew about the warehouse breach, suspecting that his safe wouldn’t be spared either.
However, he never expected that these petty thieves who came to his base were so audacious and bold, completely disregarding any conventional tactics.
A regular thief would merely pry open the safe and take the money inside.
Yet the thieves who broke into the base this time had violently taken the entire safe.
This was lawlessness, an outrageous insult!
Tranleva looked at the bare wall, utterly furious.
Others might not know what was inside the safe, but he was fully aware.
That safe was custom-ordered from specialists. Its rear panel had two layers of cladding, hiding an interlayer where Tranleva had stored items he painstakingly searched for over the years. As the collection was incomplete, he dared not carry it with him easily. Instead, he carefully hid it in this base, fearful of anyone discovering them.
Never did he expect that his decades of caution would end in such a failure, letting a few petty thieves steal the treasures he’d painstakingly acquired!
Tranleva trembled uncontrollably, itching to immediately find those thieves and scatter their remains into the sea to feed the fish.
After counting the missing items, several subordinates on the side were trembling with fear. With difficulty, they plucked up the courage to approach Tranleva, saying:
"Boss, here’s the checklist of missing items. Would you like to review it?"
Tranleva’s eyes reddened as he glanced at the list from the corner of his eye, remaining silent.
No one could fathom what this drug lord was thinking at that moment, except for himself.
At this moment, Tranleva was filled with anger and regret.
If he’d known today would come, he would never have hidden his life’s work in this base. It was his blind faith in the base’s security system that led to this, paying such a painful price.
Yet this agony, he couldn’t speak of it to anyone because no one besides himself knew of those treasures.
Seeing Tranleva’s prolonged silence, Captain Holman, whose face was still swollen from the earlier altercation, couldn’t maintain his composure. Plucking up his courage, he stepped out and inquired:
"Boss, so many things were stolen from the warehouse in just one night. But we didn’t hear any disturbances while patrolling outside. Clearly, this group of thieves is cunning and professional. Investigating the theft isn’t exactly our forte. I think we should report it to the police. Let them get involved. They must be more skilled than us. With some international detectives, I’m sure they can quickly capture this group of thieves."
Upon hearing Holman’s words, the nearby drug traffickers remained silent, looking at each other in trepidation, not daring to speak.
What a joke. They’re used to dealing with the police through private dealings. How could they openly approach the cops now, let alone involve international detectives? If they did, how would they explain the base’s problems and the drug production inside? It’d be like handing the police evidence on a silver platter.
The drug traffickers kept their heads down, fearing that a careless word could trigger a disaster, drawing attention to themselves.
Inwardly, they cursed Captain Holman for lacking sense, choosing such a moment to voice such a bad idea. Did he have a death wish?
Everyone believed Holman was doomed this time. Everyone knew the big boss was furious. As Holman pushed his way to the front, Tranleva would surely vent his rage on Holman, who might not see the light of tomorrow!
