Chapter 174: Chapter 174: Out of the Mouths of Babes

While Bai Yue was paying respects to Wu Yun’s grandparents, Wu Yun called a housekeeping company. He told them to send someone to get the spare key from the property management office, clean the Huilu International apartment, and change the bedsheets while they were at it.

Wu Yun was getting more and more used to paying for services. In his view, any small problem that could be solved with money wasn’t worth the extra trouble. When you factored in the time saved, it was actually a pretty good deal.

Wu Yun had no intention of selling or renting out this old house. He just planned to keep it, so he could come back and stay during the New Year, other holidays, or the Qingming Festival.

"Are you done?" Wu Yun asked, hanging a rag on the rack by the sink. He shouted toward his grandparents’ room.

Bai Yue’s pleasant voice called out from inside the room. "Coming!"

A moment later, Bai Yue walked out holding a slightly dusty rag. After rinsing it in the sink, she washed her hands and then skipped over to Wu Yun’s side.

"Let’s go." Seeing Bai Yue’s bright, smiling face, Wu Yun reached out and stroked her hair.

Wu Yun felt a pain in his stomach, and his mouth was on fire. His nose started to run from the spice, but his hand moved of its own accord, reaching out with his chopsticks to pick out the small pieces of rabbit from the mountain of chili peppers.

Wu Yun didn’t mention it again and changed the subject. "Alright, alright! If we’re still hungry, we can get some fried egg noodles after the movie. I’ll call Gao Qiang first and see if he wants to come out for a late-night snack."

He made the call via Bluetooth, and Gao Qiang picked up almost immediately.

"Ah Yun! What’s up?" Guys’ conversations were always straightforward.

Hearing Gao Qiang’s baritone voice, Wu Yun laughed. "Qiangzai, I’m calling to see if you want to come out for fried egg noodles tonight. I’m with Bai Yue."

"Are you shitting me?! Didn’t you go to Capital City to see Bai Yue?" Gao Qiang didn’t believe him at all. Before the break, he had just asked Wu Yun if he was coming back to Jingyang.

"I’m not lying! If you don’t believe me, ask Bai Yue!" Wu Yun gestured for Bai Yue to speak.

"Gao Qiang, we’re really in Jingyang. We just finished eating Mute Rabbit." Bai Yue then briefly explained the twists and turns of how they ended up here, and only then was Gao Qiang convinced.

"Qiangzai, you can bring your girlfriend along too!"

Wu Yun hung up the phone with a chuckle, easily imagining Gao Qiang on the other end, furious and cursing him out.

A moment later, her exasperated voice came through. "I really have to hand it to you. There’s not a single empty seat left today! Even the animated movies are full!"

Wu Yun glanced at the right-side mirror and flicked on his right turn signal to change lanes. The car behind him began to slow down and make way.

"We’ll go to South Street then! I’ll go shopping with you!"

Wu Yun soon regretted his decision. He had already forgotten the painful lesson from his last shopping trip with Qi Fei, and this time, he had even brought it up himself.
