Chapter 1322: Chapter 1322: Can You Please Stop Interfering

Seeing Harriet suddenly appear in the living room, Aiden and Ryan were visibly stunned for a moment, but they quickly returned to normal.

"Ryan said inviting Evelyn over might be a bit rushed? He’s worried this might just be Thomas’ mom acting on impulse." Aiden spoke up before Ryan could, and his words surprised his son.

Ryan felt surprised yet deeply impressed by his dad’s ability to lie, which was truly eye-opening. He hadn’t figured out how to respond to his mom’s questions, but his dad already did it for him.

He was extremely grateful for his dad stepping in, "Mom! You shouldn’t push so hard, I’m worried pushing too hard might backfire."

His real concern was that the two of them might be driven to do something wrong; pretending to be a couple was already unreliable, anything more would be worse.

He didn’t want to see those two make foolish mistakes, especially his good buddy, who was his biggest concern right now.

"How could it backfire? Didn’t you see Evelyn was very happy just now?" Harriet had no idea about the pretend relationship between Thomas and Evelyn. Right now, she was solely focused on bringing them together quickly, so she could arrange both her son’s and daughter’s marriages, perhaps even have a grandchild and a godchild at the same time.

Was Evelyn really happy? She was just acting, okay?

Ryan really wanted to retort like this, but considering the consequences of saying it, he held back, "Though she seemed happy, I still think you shouldn’t push them too hard. They’ve just gotten together recently, you should let things develop naturally."

He hoped to gain some time to persuade those two to stop fooling around; he didn’t want to intervene when things were out of control.

"Ryan is right, you should let them develop naturally. As parents, we shouldn’t arbitrarily ’help’ them." Aiden chimed in to support Ryan, which was actually what he wanted to say to Harriet; his son just beat him to it.

He hoped his son and daughter could find their ideal partners and happiness, but this kind of pretended happiness and joy was something he absolutely did not want to see.

Seeing the father and son echoing each other, Harriet couldn’t understand what they were plotting. She looked at Aiden, then at Ryan, finally at Aiden again, "What are you both talking about? How am I pushing Evelyn? I just want her to find her happiness quickly, and all you do is make sarcastic remarks without helping me."

Her dissatisfaction with the father and son’s words was evident on her face, full of displeasure.

"Mom! Evelyn’s... not a child anymore, she knows what she’s doing, so could you please not interfere?" Ryan almost blurted out the truth about Thomas and Evelyn pretending to be a couple, but he managed to control himself. He couldn’t reveal the truth now, as it would certainly unsettle his mom.

For now, he could keep things under control, but if the real situation was exposed to his mom, she would definitely tell Auntie Ye, and then both moms would surely go crazy.
