Chapter 1320: Chapter 1320: Aren’t You Two Afraid of Playing with Fire?

Harriet White was standing right next to Evelyn Taylor, and even deliberately leaned a bit closer to her. With how loud Autumn York had just shouted on the phone, she’d heard the two girls’ conversation crystal clear.

Autumn was delighted on the other end of the phone, and Harriet felt just as happy. Getting Thomas Fisher and Evelyn Taylor to meet each other’s parents separately was something the two women had already discussed and agreed on in advance; she just hadn’t had time to tell her own daughter yet.

Without Evelyn’s consent, Harriet reached over and directly took the phone from her ear, then put it to her own ear. "Autumn! It’s me."

With the other three people present all watching her, she started talking without the slightest hesitation.

Evelyn had just been struggling over what to say to Autumn, and now she was finally freed. She glanced at her mom, who looked rather excited, then left her seat and walked out of the dining room.

Seeing this, Ryan Taylor immediately stood up and followed her out. With his long legs, he caught up to Evelyn, who had left the dining room first, in just a few steps. "You planning to keep playing this game? Are you two really not afraid of getting burned?"

He might not have heard the entire phone call just now, but that didn’t stop him from judging the situation as a whole.

"What kind of fire could we possibly start?" Evelyn looked completely unconcerned. In her eyes, she and Thomas were just pretending to be a couple to fool their parents a bit; she hadn’t thought any further than that.

Seeing his little sister acting so blasé, Ryan let out a worried yet helpless sigh. "What do you think? Thomas’s mom is already inviting you over to their place. What do you think the next step is going to be?"

His silly little sister—did she really not understand what it meant to be invited over as a guest?

Right now, the Fisher Family was already treating her as their future daughter-in-law. Once she formally met the parents, the next step would be heading straight toward an engagement, maybe even marriage.

"It’s not like I’ve never been over to Nate’s place before. This time isn’t any different. I’m just treating it like a normal visit to Nate’s to hang out." Evelyn knew perfectly well what Autumn’s invitation to the Fisher home meant, but she simply didn’t take it seriously. She felt this visit was no different from previous ones. She couldn’t control what other people thought; what mattered was what she herself had in mind.

Hearing this, Ryan really didn’t know what to say to Evelyn anymore. Put nicely, she was innocent; put bluntly, she was dumb—just plain foolish.

"You going over to the Fisher place—does Thomas know about it?" His own sister was too naive to grasp how serious this was, but did his good buddy not understand the seriousness either?

"He doesn’t. Autumn just called me. Oh right, I should hurry and call Nate now." Prompted by her brother’s reminder, Evelyn suddenly realized she still hadn’t talked to Thomas about this, and immediately ran upstairs toward her room.

She’d left her phone in her room when she came downstairs earlier.

Watching her dash upstairs in a hurry, Ryan shook his head in deep worry. Just then, Aiden Taylor walked out of the dining room and happened to see him shaking his head.

"Do you know something?"

His dad’s voice suddenly sounded behind him, and Ryan spun around at once. He hadn’t even noticed when his father had come up behind him, and now Aiden was staring at him with a probing look.

Ryan’s heart skipped a beat, but on the surface he still tried to look calm. "Dad! What are you talking about? What would I know?"

As he spoke, he did his best to keep his tone steady.
