Eden took a seat next to Shenyan and caressed his head.
"Did you sleep okay?"
"I did, do you feel better?"
Eden smiled.
"I do."
When they finished eating breakfast Eden looked around and ordered:
"Leave."
Every maid, guard, and eunuch immediately left. Before when Eden would give them an order they would first look at the emperor but now they know better.
They’ve seen how he treats him and they don’t want to get on Eden’s bad side. When the room was empty Eden looked at Shenyan.
"I have to tell you something."
Shenyan looked back nervous, the last time Eden said that to him he didn’t like what he heard so he knows that whatever it is will probably upset him. Eden looked at him intently and said:
"I’m pregnant."
Shenyan looked at him dazed.
"You are?"
Eden nodded and Shenyan opened his mouth but nothing came out. He is happy because he always wanted to have a brother or a sister but he feels like he won’t be part of the family. He isn’t Eden’s son while his sibling will be. Shenyan looked down and swallowed with difficulty. At least his sibling will have what he never had a loving mother, he doesn’t doubt that Eden will always stay at his or her side. He looked up and smiled.
"I’m glad I’ve always wanted a brother or a sister. Whatever it is they’ll be lucky to have you and call you mother."
Shenyan’s smile and words were genuine and Eden felt touched.
Shenyan stood up to leave and Eden frowned. He held his wrist and Shenyan looked at him.
"Is there something else you’d like to say?"
Eden said:
"I know that I’m not your mother and I’m not trying to take her place but I was hoping you would call me mother too if you’re okay with that."
Shenyan looked at Eden stunned. He often almost says mother instead of Eden and he felt terrified at the idea of him finding out. He isn’t Eden’s son he owes him nothing and he didn’t want to scare him away. But Eden just proposed it.
Shenyan nodded, he felt unable to say anything. Eden smiled and he hugged him tightly. Shenyan hugged him back with the same smile. Eden pulled back and caressed his head. He felt a little nervous about how Shenyan would react, he doesn’t want him to think that things will change between them. Shenyan asked:
"Was it a surprise?"
Eden nodded.
"It was but I wanted a second child and I felt that it would complete our family."
Shenyan’s eyes moistened, he doesn’t even know why he thought that he would feel like an outsider. When Eden saw how touched he was he smiled.
Yecheng never thought he would feel this happy. The reason he knew that he hadn’t found his soulmate yet is that none of his concubines got along with his son. They just wanted to get in Shenyan’s good graces and that’s it. But he knows that Eden loves Shenyan as much as he loves him. He feels the same a second child will complete their family. He asked Eden:
"Do you need help for tonight?"
Eden shook his head and smiled maliciously.
"I got it under control."
Yecheng smiled.
Shenyan looked at his parents confused. Eden smiled and said:
"I’m going to deal with the Miaos for good tonight."
Shenyan frowned.
"Shouldn’t you rest and let father take care of it?"
Eden shook his head.
"Kuang is planning to use poison to control and have me kill you in the middle of the banquet. Do you really think I’m not going to be the one to end him?"
Shenyan and Yecheng looked at Eden stunned. They thought the Miaos were only after the Suns.
Yecheng’s eyes darken and he forcefully banged his fist on the table. The table broke in two and all the dishes fell to the ground. Eden and Shenyan leaned back so it wouldn’t fall on them and looked at Yecheng. He was trembling in anger and looked ready to explode. Eden took a seat next to him and turned his face.
"Gege..."
"I’m going to kill them all."
"No, you won’t."
Yecheng narrowed his eyes.
Eden narrowed his eyes too and warned:
"You better stay out of it and let me deal with them unless you want to suffer. Do you understand?"
Yecheng didn’t respond.
"I want to punish them for trying to take away the people that I love, first my father then my son. Plus it would look bad if anyone thought you had something to do with it."
Even if Yecheng is the emperor he can’t be involved in the annihilation of an old family like the Miao.
Yecheng took a breath to calm down. He asked:
"What are you going to do?"
Eden smiled.
"Make Kuang do what he wanted me to do."

"I already have he’s already under my control he’s just too stupid to know it."
Unlike Kuang he has technology from the future, he put a microchip in the elixir he gave him he’s nothing more than a puppet.
Yecheng felt better hearing that. Shenyan asked:
"How did he think he would make you drink the poison in the first place?"
Eden looked at Shenyan and said his eyes flashing with amusement.
"Kuang believes that I’m nice and naive."
Yecheng and Shenyan couldn’t stop themselves from chuckling. Eden is nice but he is certainly not naive.
Kuang entered the banquet hall and took his seat after saying hello to the emperor. He smiled when Eden entered and walked to the thrones. Even if he knows why he didn’t show up yesterday he was worried he might not show up today too. He looked at his daughter and could tell that she was just as happy that Eden came.
The entire night he kept glancing at Eden and when he left for the garden he followed him. He was looking at the flowers with a smile like last time. He joined him.
"Hello, Eden."
Eden smiled and asked:
"Hello. How are you?"
"I’m well thank you for your help.
"Of course, it was my pleasure."
Kuang pulled out a vial and gave it to Eden. He took it and looked at it.
"What is it?"
"It’s just a gift for helping me with my illness. I heard that yesterday you didn’t attend the festivities because you were sick so I made you this tonic."
Eden smiled and Kuang could tell how touched he was. He opened the vial and drank it all. Kuang felt like laughing, how can someone so smart be this naive? Eden gave him back the vial and said:
"Thank you, I should go back inside."
Kuang grabbed the vial and watched him leave. He waited a few minutes and went back inside. He took his seat and looked at his son and daughter to let them know the show is about to start. Eden discreetly glanced at Yecheng.
Jingxuan who couldn’t wait to see Eden’s fall was surprised when the Emperor’s eunuch told him to answer Yecheng. He walked to him and the hall became silent when he knelt.
"Your majesty."
"Stand."
Jingxuan stood up. He felt his heartbeat quicken when the emperor said:
"We wanted to talk about your position. You’ve been a faithful servant to us and we would like to give you a chance at being..."
Eden ordered:
"Kill Jingxuan."
He spoke in a hushed tone so no one would hear him.
Jingxuan couldn’t wait for the emperor to say he wants to give him a chance at being the great general, everyone believed this was where it was going too. They all know how much he wants to lead the army. But before Yecheng could finish his sentence Jingxuan’s throat was slit from behind and his body collapsed. Xinjie screamed in horror and once his body was on the floor she looked at the killer wide-eyed. Yecheng looked at the guards and they immediately held him in place.
Everyone was shocked to see that Kuang had just killed his son in cold blood. Kuang had his head down looking at the body on the floor seemingly in shock. He started to breathe heavily and tears fell on his face. He looked at his daughter when she screamed:
"Father how could you do this to brother?"
"I-I didn’t, I wouldn’t I swear."
When he saw the hatred and pain in his daughter’s eyes he felt like the pain was going to consume him.
Xinjie looked at her brother again crying, she thought that after today she wouldn’t have to see Eden and Shenyan ever again. But the only person she won’t be able to see is her brother and father, the emperor will never let him go. How could this happen? It doesn’t make any sense. When she saw Yecheng stand up she thought that he would hug her and make her feel better but he was walking to Eden.
When Yecheng knelt in front of him everyone gasped including Xinjie. Yecheng caressed Eden’s cheek and asked:
"Are you okay?"
Eden had his head down but Yecheng felt like he looked slightly pale. Eden met his eyes and smiled reassuringly.
"I’m okay I just can’t stand the sight of blood."
He doesn’t mind he just can’t stand it when he is pregnant. It doesn’t matter how long it’s been as long as he knows he’s pregnant it makes him feel nauseated.
Eden said:
"Take care of the situation I’ll leave."
Yecheng felt bad leaving him when he is sick. Eden could tell but he said:
"It’s fine they need you."
Shenyan walked to them and said to his father:
"I’ll stay with mother until you’re done."
Yecheng nodded, he helped Eden stand up and kissed his forehead.
Eden grabbed Shenyan’s hand and they left. The entire hall was beyond shocked. The emperor’s father-in-law just killed his brother-in-law and all he cared about was making sure his noble consort was okay. If that wasn’t enough the cold crown prince just called the noble consort mother. It was like they couldn’t see that the empress was crying and devastated while they ran to the noble consort just because he can’t stand the sight of blood.
Xinjie’s entire body trembled and she bit her lip so tightly that she started to bleed. Her family just collapsed and all Yecheng cared about was Eden. She thought it would be enough to have him see killed but it isn’t. She’ll be the one to kill him. Xinjie stood up from her throne and called:
"Eden!"
