Despite being back Eden stood in place looking down for a long time. Whoever did this to him must know that he is free now. He has to gain the power from this universe he chose it on purpose. What if he sends him back again? He looked down at his stomach and his eyes moistened. What about the baby? He needs to hold on a little longer he’s close, he just needs energy from two or three more universes.
He took a breath to calm his erratic heartbeat. He heard someone entering and looked up and when he felt a shift he ran to his arms. Eden held him tightly.
"I’m here, I’m here."
When Eden’s heartbeat slowed down he pulled back and met his eyes. Cael caressed his stomach and asked:
"Are you two okay?"
"We are."
Cael’s eyes darken as he asked:
"What happened?"
"I was about to leave when I appeared in another universe. I was sitting on a bridge’s railing, if I would’ve made the smallest move we..."
At least last time he appeared somewhere safe but he could’ve fallen and they both would’ve drowned. Even if he can swim how long would he be able to hold on with the high courant?
When Cael’s eyes turned all black Eden looked at him stunned. He took a step closer and held his face.
"We’re okay."
"That son of a bitch is dead."
"Do you know who it is?"
Cael’s eyes turned back green and he explained:
"I do, there’s only one person who can change the timelines of a universe with impunity. The multiverse is controlled by the Guardian Of Time. GOT has been ruled by the Whitlock family forever, they live for eternity so there is no need to find an alternative. Every guardian of the timeline works for them and has to follow their orders. They all reside in the Magellanic Clouds and no one can enter or leave that universe unless they have a title. Guardians only make sure the timeline hasn’t been altered, fix glitches, and make sure that each soul is treated fairly. No soul should suffer in every one of its lives."
Eden felt like laughing, no soul should but he did. Cael pulled him in his arms.
"The reason you did is that the current chancellor of GOT has it out for you."
Eden asked:
"Who is he?"
"His name is Colton Whitlock."
Eden frowned.
"Didn’t you say that the Whitlock rule over the guardians?"
"I did."
Eden asked confused:
"Then shouldn’t it be a guardian who has an issue with me since I would be more likely to meet a guardian than a chancellor?"
Call explained:
"You would since the guardians travel in the multiverse but Colton wasn’t always a chancellor. Before he was a guardian as well, he might’ve had a higher title than the other but he still traveled the multiverse."
Eden pushed Cael and paced. He suddenly stopped and looked at him with narrowed eyes.
"What was your relationship with him?"
Cael answered honestly:
"We were lovers."
When Eden didn’t show any emotion Cael felt even more nervous.
"Aren’t you from the same family?"
Cael shook his head.
"You can become a Whitlock through marriage. My cousin and his mother married then he adopted him so he became a Whitlock."
Eden felt his heart beating faster.
He still didn’t show anything and asked:
"Why is he the chancellor?"
Even if Colton is a Whitlock they must be a lot more people who have more rights than him to be on the throne.
"Even if we are eternal sometimes people still want their life to end so the soul can be obliterated. If you just need a break your soul-flakes are scattered in the multiverse and your consciousness falls asleep. Usually, people put it on a timer and you automatically wake up at the end of it. All my family has obliterated their soul after living for so long. By the end, they were only me, my father, and Colton left. When my father obliterated his soul I decided to take a break not long after and the only Whitlock left was Colton even if it was through marriage so the chancellor’s throne was rightfully his."
Eden looked at him expressionlessly and asked:
"Why does he hate me?"
"After I felt that you were taken somewhere else again I looked up information on you and Colton’s history."
Eden raised an eyebrow. Cael explained:
"You crossed paths when he was a guardian, it was during his first mission. He was sent to rectify an error, one of the universe had a glitch and you somehow found out. It was in one of your past lives, you were a mafia leader and it allowed you to become powerful and rule the city. Every time Colton would show up to fix it he would end up dead and each time you would be the one to pull the trigger."
Eden narrowed his eyes and yell:
"So because Colton was too stupid to find another way to fix a glitch in my universe he decided to torture me for eternity? Is this a fuckin joke? Couldn’t he find another time when I wasn’t there?"
Cael shook his head:
"Even if a guardian fails he can’t choose a different time to arrive in the timeline or it might make things worst. The glitch was situated in one of your warehouses and he, unfortunately, chose the time when you were executing traitors in your clan. When you saw him you believed he was one of the traitors and each time he would die by your hands."
Eden burst out laughing but Cael knew that he was anything but amused. He could feel his murderous aura. When Eden was done he said:
"You’re the one who helped him didn’t you?"
"I did. He felt ashamed to tell anyone since he had the honor of becoming a Whitlock and after more than two hundred failures he asked for my help. He went back and filmed the entire scene and I helped him find a solution to survive and to fix the glitch without being noticed by any souls including yours."
Eden paced in anger again. That son of a bitch made his lives a leaving hell because he wasn’t competent enough to be a guardian? So any moron can become a guardian as long as their name change into Whitlock. This is fuckin ridiculous. As soon as he gets his hands on him he’s going to obliterate his soul. Cael walked to Eden and held him in place, his hands were on his shoulders but Eden took a step back and asked:
"Why did we meet?"
Cael hid his disappointment and said:
"I have millions of soul-flakes scattered we were bound to find each other at some point and it happened in the first universe you went to after freeing yourself. After that, I made sure we would always find each other."

"How?"
"Each soul-flakes has a different particularity. When you took a sliver of my consciousness it acted as a guide even if you weren’t aware of it. It helped you choose each universe you went to."
Eden looked away.
"Since you have millions of soul-flakes won’t it take forever for you to be whole again?"
Cael smiled at that. He took a step closer and turned Eden’s head.
"Didn’t you choose this universe on purpose?"
Eden looked at him understanding. He did feel that this universe held a strong concentration of power that’s why he chose it.
"Will you be able to channel the rest of your soul-flakes once you gain the power of this universe?"
"I’m already able to, I’ve been feeling my power growing already that’s how I was able to investigate."
Eden nodded and said determinedly:
"I’m going to obliterate Colton’s soul."
Cael pulled him in his embrace.
"If you want to be the one to deal with him you’ll need the power from three more universes. But even if you don’t have enough power I’ll be able to let you in Magellanic Clouds and deal with him. If I go back I would automatically become chancellor again since he only took the throne because I left."
Eden pushed him and said:
"I want to be the one to kill him. Just cloak me so he doesn’t see what I’m up to. I’m sure he already knows I’m free I don’t want him to know that I’m coming for him too."
Cael assured him:
"I already have and I will continue. We’ll go to Magellanic Clouds together once you are ready until then only focus on getting stronger. I’ll guide you to the universe where you’ll be able to gain as much power as possible."
Eden nodded and looked away. Cael gazed at him and felt his heart ache. He knows he is angry at him but he’s not responsible for the mess Colton caused. He was only able to make Eden suffer when he became chancellor because he knows that Cael would never accept that.
He had no idea he held so much anger and hatred against Eden. When he thinks about the person he remembers he can’t reconcile it with this person who’s been torturing his soulmate. Now he’s going to lose Eden forever. He forced himself not to show anything and said:
"I should go."
Eden simply nodded his head still turned. Cael reassured him:
"You don’t have to worry even if you’re done with me I’ll still help and find you a universe to reside in once you deal with Colton."
Eden turned his head furiously and asked:
"What did you say?"
"I’ll still help you and find you a paradise to live in for eternity."
Eden pushed Cael against the wall and wrapped his hand around his neck. Eden yelled:
"Are you telling me that your previous words meant nothing?"
Cael looked at Eden stunned.
"Of course they did. I want us to be together forever but you’re angry and think that I would ever do something to hurt you."
Eden let go of him and said:
"I’m not angry at you I just..."
Eden looked down and bit his lip. Cael lifted his head and he felt his heart clench when he saw how upset he was.
"I don’t like this okay it makes me feel vulnerable. We might’ve been together for more than a thousand years but I don’t know the real you while you have a past with this person."
Cael pulled Eden in his arms.
"I didn’t love Colton enough to stay alive while I more than love you to live over and over again."
He pulled back and met his eyes.
"The first time our eyes met I knew that I would never stop looking for you. You’re my soulmate, you and I were supposed to meet. I know I can’t take away all the pain he caused you but I promise that I’ll always do everything to make you happy."
Eden looked into Cael’s obsessed eyes. He kissed him and said:
"If going through all the pain that I did mean that you and I would meet over and over again it was worth it."
Cael’s eyes moistened and he hugged him tightly.
"I love you so much, baby."
"I love you more Gege."
Cael pulled back and after kissing him he said:
"I’ll send you back in time a little okay?"
Eden nodded and he kissed him once last time. Once he blinked he was holding Yecheng’s hand heading to the dining hall. He finally knows the truth and once he has enough power Colton is going to wish he never laid eyes on him.
