Xinjie looked around the banquet hall with a smile. She’s never been happier, Eden didn’t show up at the first banquet of the spring festival. Everyone is already talking about how the minister used his relationship with Shenyan to marry the emperor and now move into the imperial palace. They believe that Eden manipulates Shenyan to get whatever he wants out of the emperor since he would do anything for his son.
After she stopped crying she decided that she would destroy his reputation before he dies. In a couple of days, Eden will be gone and it seems like he is already struggling with everyone talking about him since he didn’t show up. Once he is gone when she’ll asks to spend time with the emperor he won’t refuse her anymore. The only thing that makes her feel better is the fact he’s been refusing his entire harem.
So it wasn’t enough that a filthy consort moved into the imperial palace but Eden had to convince him to not see anyone. She’s glad that brat Shenyan will die too, he has way too much power over the emperor. The fact that Shenyan was able to make his father do all of this is ridiculous. Once they are gone she’ll become pregnant and her son will be the next emperor. When Shenyan dies Yecheng will be heartbroken and she’ll be at his side comforting him.
She’s sure he’ll fall in love with her. Thinking that her eyes sparkled and she looked at Yecheng. He’ll even ask her to call him Gege and tell him that he only married Eden because this is what his son wanted. When the sound of the doors opening was heard everyone looked. They couldn’t understand how someone would dare come to such an important night late.
When they saw that it was Eden they weren’t surprised anymore. They heard how he’s been manipulating the emperor using Shenyan. Xinjie’s hands tightened into fists. He dared to show up.
Eden walked to the throne with a smile on his face. Even if most people hate him they couldn’t deny that he looked breathtaking. He had on white robes and a beautiful golden crown with a matching pin on his head. They felt like it wasn’t fair that he is a ger, they’re all so beautiful.
Eden stopped in front of the steps and he bowed to the emperor. When he looked up he said:
"Your maj..."
He stopped remembering their conversation, even if he hadn’t remembered Yecheng’s sad face was enough to do it for him. He smiled and said:
"Gege."
The entire hall was stupefied, a noble consort dared to speak to the emperor so casually, they felt excited at the idea of the emperor losing it.
Yecheng smiled and said:
"Eden."
Yecheng was glad he corrected himself, he meant what he said this morning he doesn’t care what people think.
Eden walked the stairs to the thrones and gasps could be heard. He ignored them and walked to Shenyan. He touched his forehead and asked:
"Are you feeling better?"
"I do thank you for the potion."
Eden smiled and caressed his head.
"You’re welcome, my love."
Shenyan smiled with a slight blush. All the people in the room gaped, the cold crown prince is being shy in front of Eden. No wonder he was able to manipulate him so well. Eden walked down the stairs and as he reached his seat he said:
"Your highness."
Shenyan looked at Xinjie with a mocking smile. Xinjie gritted her teeth and said:
"Noble consort."

Eden drank and ate leisurely uncaring of the looks and whispers. He’s well aware of his reputation but he doesn’t mind. When the guards opened the doors to the garden he stood up and walked to his father.
"Father, will you walk the garden with me?"
Weilong nodded and followed him out. When they were out of sight and earshot Eden stopped.
Weilong asked:
"Why were you late?"
"I had to visit someone sick."
Weilong nodded then he asked out of the blue:
"Do you love Yecheng?"
Eden looked into his eyes.
"I do love him but I made it clear that if we can’t truly be together I’ll leave."
Weilong immediately said:
"Then I’ll go with you."
Eden shook his head.
"No, you’re not. You are the great general your army needs you and so does the one you love. How do you think Caishen would feel if you left?"
Weilong looked uncomfortable.
"I don’t..."
Weilong couldn’t say more. He can’t say it, he can’t say he doesn’t love Caishen. That would be a lie and he never lies. He just doesn’t want Eden to think that he’s betraying his late wife. He was about to reassure him that nothing happened but Eden put a hand on his shoulder.
"Father you deserve to be happy and I know that mother would’ve agreed with me if she was here. You’re lucky to have found someone you love and who loves you back so don’t stand in your way."
Weilong hugged his son. He never made the first step because he didn’t want to upset his son. He knew that even if Eden was bothered by it he would pretend to be okay and he doesn’t want that. At least now he knows he truly is. He pulled back and said:
"You shouldn’t leave your family behind."
"Father I told you you should stay here and..."
"I meant Yecheng and Shenyan."
Eden opened his mouth but nothing came out.
Weilong said:
"You know me if I felt that you shouldn’t be with Yecheng I would’ve done anything to get you out of here. I know he loves you and that he’ll do everything to keep you at his side. Even if you were willing to leave Yecheng I don’t think you would Shenyan. I know that you think of him as your son and you never leave your son behind."
Eden swallowed and looked down.
Kuang kept glancing at the doors to the garden. When he saw Weilong coming back alone he sneaked out and made sure he didn’t see him. He looked around for Eden and saw that he was holding a flower with a smile. He walked to him and Eden turned around. He smiled and saluted:
"Miao Kuang."
He smiled and asked:
"Eden, how are you?" ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
"I’m well thank you."
He asked:
"Why were you late?"
"I had to bring one of the elixirs I made for a sick man."
Kuang immediately asked
"You made two?"
Eden nodded:
"I did you never know what might happen and I wanted to cure him as fast as possible before his situation worsened."
Kuang’s eyes lit up, if Eden gives him the second elixir he made today he’ll be able to have him killed tomorrow. He took a step closer and asked:
"Can I ask you a favor?"
Eden smiled.
"Of course, if I can help you I will."
"I was wondering if you could give me the second elixir?"
Eden asked:
"Why? Are you sick?"
Kuang nodded. Eden grabbed his wrist and took his pulse. After a few seconds, he looked at him wide-eyed. When he saw how sad he was for him Kuang knew that his son was exaggerating what happened in court. His children both seem to think that Eden has changed now that he is a noble consort and that he’s haughty. Eden pulled out the vial and gave it to him.
"Once you drink it make sure to have a long night of sleep, I’ll send an envoy to your house tomorrow morning with a potion that will help so you’ll have more energy."
Kuang took the vial with a shaky hand, he felt so excited. He opened it and drank all of it. He closed the vial and already felt the side effect rescind. His heavy legs felt lighter and he could finally move his body as he wished. As the day passed is body felt heavier and moving in any way took a lot of effort. He smiled at Eden.
"Thank you for your help son."
Eden smiled.
"Of course, I’m just glad I was able to help."
Eden said:
"I’ll go back inside."
Kuang nodded and watched him leave. He has never met someone as stupid as him, but his children aren’t far behind since they believe Eden is this manipulative monster. He decided to walk the garden in a good mood.
Eden looked back and saw Kuang walking happily. He sneered, to think Kuang is the smartest Miao. He went to take his seat and looked at his eunuch. He poured him wine and Eden drank with a smile as he watched the dancers. When they were done he drank again but chocked when Xinjie said when there was silence:
"Gege did you like the dancers?"
Luckily Eden had swallowed so nothing spilled on him but he couldn’t stop coughing. Weilong was about to stand up to tap on his back but Shenyan had already run and knelt at his side. He tapped and his eyes flashed with worry. When Eden’s cough die down he asked:
"Eden are you okay?"
Eden took a deep breath and looked at him. He smiled and said:
"I’m okay."
Shenyan still felt uncomfortable, to him Eden was only pretending so as not to worry him. Eden looked down at his stomach with a frown then he stood up. He walked out of the banquet hall in silence.
