Chapter 1675: Bone Lich Undead Emperor Awakening
From the start of the memory retrieval to the end, Kent’s body underwent countless changes.
On the first day of the memory retrieval, his body was cocooned within a bone-like shell oozing with the power of death. He underwent the same transformation as Ruthless Bandit, so it felt only right that he experience it as well as the bone lich emperor.
Unfortunately for Nyx, as the hours passed, the power of death grew increasingly overwhelming, forcing her to wake up.
When she saw the cocoon, she was startled. However, a small angelic fairy child with beautiful golden hair, who introduced herself as Tower, was inside the room when she woke up and explained that her master, Kent, was perfectly fine.
Nyx accepted her explanation, but she was still worried.
Tower laughed when she saw her frightened expression. The sight made her happy because, at the very least, her master had found yet another woman who would place his needs above her own.
The second day brought even more worry when a dark-covered book radiating the power of death appeared.
The Undead Codex had arrived, and as if it were a competition, another tattered book, the Book of Evil, also appeared to challenge it.
Their rivalry escalated quickly. Had Tower not stepped in, they might have destroyed each other.
This interaction made Nyx wonder just who she had given her heart to and how many more secrets he was hiding.
On the third day, she needed reinforcement, so she called Zeraphine to come and experience the weirdness with her.
Zeraphine had been rescued by Uncle Drew some time ago and brought to the Underworld.
Since then, she had been training nonstop, motivated by how close she had come to death and how narrowly she had escaped it.
She sought to destroy her enemies, who also happened to be her best friend, or at least someone who used to be and her friend’s family.
While the others had already reunited with Kent before he left for the Underworld, she had been focused entirely on training. Thanks to the difference in time flow, she had already reached the realm of a Demigod.
With Zeraphine joining her, Nyx managed to relax a little.
However, on the fourth day, when a voice she recognised all too well entered her mind, she felt as though everything she knew about Kent and his life was merely a small piece of a much larger puzzle.
It turned out that Indie had regained her authority as the underworld Empress, and she wanted to inform Kent before she broke the seal on the cultivation in the underworld.
However, since he was unconscious, she reached out to Nyx instead.
While they could not communicate with those outside the Underworld, being within the same realm allowed them to communicate. Furthermore, now that Nyx had joined the harem, Indie was able to contact her directly.
After Nyx calmed down, she informed Indie of everything that had happened.
Indie, of course, did not panic.
After all, she had witnessed Kent undergo countless strange evolutions before, so she knew he would be fine.
However, she chose to halt the release of the seal that would remove the cultivation limit imposed on everyone.
She wanted Kent to wake up before doing that.
A while later, the Undead Staff also appeared out of thin air and came to rest beside Kent’s cocoon. It appeared to be awakening alongside the Bone Lich Undead Emperor.
Thankfully, on the fifth day, the cocoon cracked, and a wave of death qi seeped through the opening.
Soon, the crack widened further, and before long, every last fragment of the cocoon shattered apart.
Kent was revealed, now sporting crimson hair and crimson pupils.
While he still looked the same, the feeling he gave off had completely changed.
He felt like a dead man walking, and the aura of death surrounding him further enhanced his undead appearance.
His clothes had transformed into those of a combat necromancer.
He was now clad in a set of black robes and trousers, paired with leather boots. In addition, a fur-lined scarf rested around his neck.
The moment he stood up, a throne made of bone materialised behind him, and he calmly sat upon it.
The Staff of the Undead and the Undead Codex hovered beside him, just as they had in the past.
Lastly, his cultivation had advanced beyond the True Immortal Stage and reached the peak of the Immortal King Stage.
When Nyx and Zeraphine met his gaze, they felt as though they were staring directly into the eyes of death.
"Kent, are you still in there?" Nyx asked, a little sceptical about Kent’s well-being, even after Tower had assured her countless times that nothing bad would happen to Kent.
Kent looked at her for a few seconds before smiling.
"Of course I’m still in here. After all, I’m still the same person."
"So you were responsible, huh?" Nyx sighed, recalling what Ronan had revealed when Indie asked who knew what had happened to the first rulers. "You killed the Thirteen Rulers of the Underworld."
"Unfortunately, yes. But it wasn’t like they gave me any choice. In the end, they had it coming."
"I see," Nyx said, saying nothing more because she knew it wasn’t her place to judge.
"How are you dealing with all of this, though?" she asked.
However, she noticed that Kent was looking at Zeraphine.
After spending so much time with Zeraphine, Nyx had realised that she harboured feelings for Kent.
Unlike Nyx, who wanted to jump into his arms the day they reunited, Zeraphine was still in the budding stage of her feelings, even after thousands of years had passed.
So, seeing the two stare at each other, she knew that despite no words being spoken, emotions were being exchanged. frёewebnoѵēl.com
After staring at one another for a good five minutes, Zeraphine walked toward Kent and wrapped her arms around him.
It had been many years, but the person who had given her the strength to keep moving forward, even when surrounded by enemies, had finally returned to her side.
"I missed you so much," she said, resting comfortably in Kent’s arms.
"I missed you, too, Zera."
Hearing Kent use the shortened version of her name, she smiled happily. She would never allow anyone else to call her by that name. Only Kent had that privilege.
So hearing it again filled her heart with joy.
"You’ve become even more powerful and beautiful, Zera. I have a feeling the others will become jealous when they see the new you."
Zeraphine’s smile widened.
"I can’t wait to see them again."
"Sure. We’ll be leaving soon, so be ready by then. That said, since the seal on the Underworld is about to be released, we have to leave first. Or do you want to stay and cultivate a little longer to strengthen your foundation even more?"
"I’ll leave with you."
"Okay, then."
After making sure they had covered the basics, with matters such as revenge against her former friend and everyone who had tried to kill her being postponed until later, Kent turned to Nyx.
"You should enter seclusion soon. Indie is ready to release the seal, and once that happens, my presence here will be revealed. That would be bad news for all of you, so I must leave until everything is settled."
"Oh."
Nyx’s mood immediately soured upon hearing that Kent was leaving.
"Relax, Nyx. Indie will bring you back to meet the rest of your sisters. I’ll be waiting for you there. For now, I should leave before my old enemies sense my presence."
It took some convincing before Nyx finally nodded.
Kent later spent a few more hours with her, making sure she was at ease before returning to the Underworld Palace with Zeraphine.
