Chapter 784: Chapter 755: Gage Grant vs. Maeve [017]
Gage Grant seldom operates in Z City. Despite The Dalton Brothers being local tyrants, known in both black and white circles, they couldn’t possibly know what someone from Brimfield like Gage Grant is all about.
Thus, the look in their eyes now, with disdain, carries the implication that they could crush you at any moment.
The Eldest Dalton clearly didn’t want to waste words with this "Lolo," while The Third Dalton pointed angrily at Maeve, saying, "This house belongs to my sister! This ingracious vulture has taken over, even bringing her dead mother’s ashes! Who is she trying to disgust here? I’m going to beat her to death!"
"Damn!" Gage Grant suddenly yelled, "Who are you cursing at? Apologize to Maeve!"
The Dalton siblings obviously didn’t expect the genteel-looking Gage Grant to curse at them and were stunned, their expressions turning unpleasant.
The Third Dalton rushed forward, throwing a punch at Gage Grant, who dodged his head aside while kicking the opponent away.
Diana Dalton lunged at Maeve to tear her apart, only to be kicked to the side by Gage Grant.
Gage Grant rolled up the sleeves of his shirt, removed the belt from his waist, snapped it twice, and beckoned at the Dalton siblings with his hand: "Come on! Again!"
The three then realized that Gage Grant had been trained.
Maeve sat coolly on the sofa, watching as Gage Grant, shielding her, wielded the belt.
The Eldest Dalton squinted at Gage Grant: "Young man, even if you have the upper hand tonight, you and she won’t be able to walk out of this room upright. If you’re smart, pack up and leave. This chance only comes once."
Gage Grant licked his teeth, smirked, "What if I don’t want this chance?"
The Eldest Dalton hadn’t spoken yet when The Third Dalton, who had been kicked to the ground by Gage Grant, got up, took out a phone, and called: "Hey! Get twenty guys to my sister’s place! Bring weapons!"
At once, Gage Grant understood who The Dalton siblings were.
He wasn’t stupid; he knew that when those twenty armed thugs arrived, even with a belt in his hand, it would be hard to protect himself, let alone Maeve.
Fearful yet pragmatic, Gage Grant quickly took out his phone, pressed a few buttons, and sent a voice message: "I’m in a bit of trouble, could you come help me out? I’ve sent you the coordinates."
The Dalton Brothers thought Gage Grant was calling his weak friends for help and immediately laughed.
They couldn’t believe a bunch of young guys could be of any use.
They sat confidently on the sofa, leisurely waiting for the thugs to arrive.
Gage Grant continued to protect Maeve behind him.
He glanced back at her during this time, noting that she was only wearing a silk dress and a thin knitted cardigan, with her long, slender, white legs draped so casually, feeling uncomfortable, he whispered: "Go change into something more covered."
Maeve looked back at him coolly, hesitated for a few seconds, then eventually got up and went upstairs.
Diana Dalton tried to follow her, but Gage Grant waved the belt, and Diana Dalton sheepishly retreated behind her brother.
Maeve came back down in a T-shirt and jeans, Gage Grant looked pleased, and showed her a bright smile.
"Why did you suddenly come back home without telling me? I waited outside your house for an hour or two last night."
Maeve said nothing, not knowing how to respond.
Gage Grant asked again: "Coming back with me tomorrow? I have something to talk to you about."
Maeve opened her mouth, but the words stayed on her tongue and were swallowed down.
Gage Grant knew that was just how she was and didn’t get angry; he just smiled foolishly at her.
Seeing the two of them chatting, The Third Dalton sneered: "Speak quickly, or else you’ll have to tell the ghosts on the Path to the Underworld later!"
Gage Grant’s previously smiling face darkened instantly: "Who the hell are you saying is on the Path to the Underworld? See if I don’t beat you to death, you waste!"
Saying that, he strode over, swinging the belt, striking The Third Dalton on the head with a smack.
He wanted to continue hitting, but a commotion suddenly came from outside the door.
Diana Dalton shouted at Ethan Conrad, who was cowering near the door with his mother: "Go open the door!"
Ethan Conrad hesitated for a moment, reluctant to open the door, knowing that once he did, there would be deadly trouble in this house, but upon seeing the ferocity in the Dalton siblings’ eyes, he still got scared and ran off.
In just a few seconds, a dozen youths with tattoos on their arms stormed into the living room.
Gage Grant took a few steps back, shielding Maeve, and said in a low voice, "Go upstairs and hide for a while. I’ll handle it here."
Seeing so many people, Maeve also got scared, her already pale face turning ghostly white, and she trembled as she said: "No, I can’t leave you alone."
"Be good, go up quickly! I can handle it!" Gage Grant shouted softly.
"No..."
Diana Dalton got proud and walked up, intending to teach Maeve a lesson.
Gage Grant swung his belt, and The Third Dalton immediately shouted: "Capture that guy for me! Break his legs!"
The thugs swarmed forward, Gage Grant protecting Maeve retreated step by step, being forced to the staircase, just as they were about to be cornered, a series of police sirens suddenly sounded from outside the door.
The faces of The Dalton siblings changed, and the Eldest Dalton went out to check. In a moment, he came back with a sycophantic smile, following a middle-aged man inside, along with several plainclothes officers.
"Director Langley, what brings you here tonight?" The Eldest Dalton feigned a grin.
The one called "Director Langley" held his hands behind his back, ignoring him, walking straight through the crowd into the room.
The thugs didn’t know who he was; without waiting for orders from The Dalton Brothers, they continued to encircle Gage Grant and Maeve.
Director Langley shouted with a solemn face: "Clear the way for me!"
The Eldest Dalton quickly spoke up: "Everyone, clear the way, clear the way!"
The thugs backed off to the sides.
Director Langley’s face suddenly changed as he approached Gage Grant, clasping his hands in Gage Grant’s: "Grant, you didn’t even let me know when you were coming to Z City? I could’ve sent someone to pick you up."
Gage Grant withdrew his hand subtly, re-buckling the belt around his waist, then with a wave, he pulled Maeve, who was hiding behind him, into his arms.
"See for yourself." He indicated at the people around with his chin, his gaze fierce as he looked at The Dalton siblings, "In a place under your management, there exists this kind of scum."
Gage Grant pulled down the shirt sleeves, fastened the cufflinks, and while he buttoned them, he said coolly: "These people threatened to break my legs and said I wouldn’t be able to walk out of here tomorrow."
The Eldest Dalton quickly explained: "No, no, we were just kidding."
"Who the hell do you think you are, joking with me?" Gage Grant kicked, sending The Eldest Dalton flying into the wall.
Gage Grant rushed forward, giving The Third Dalton a kick, sending him sprawling to the ground before stepping on his chest: "Weren’t you the one who wanted to break my leg? Come on!"
He patted his own thigh: "My leg’s right here, come break it! Come on!"
He used all his strength, grinding his shoe viciously.
The Third Dalton was choked by the pressure and kept coughing, crying for mercy: "I’m sorry! I’m sorry! Please let me off! It was all my fault!"
Gage Grant sneered, shifting his gaze to Diana Dalton, who was standing in the living room trembling from head to toe, and gestured her over: "Come here, you old hag."
