Chapter 62: Chapter 62: The Leopard’s Heart Is About to Break
"Tch." Song Jina crossed her arms and snorted.
’They must have shit for brains,’ she thought.
’Can animals really understand people? Do they think she’s some kind of god?’
’Idiots.’
"What was that for?" Yu Zimo glared at her.
Song Jina sneered. "You guys are a joke."
"You!" Yu Zimo’s face instantly went cold. "Yibao saved you. If you’re not going to be grateful, fine, but to mock her like this? If you don’t appreciate the help, you can just leave."
Zhou Lan immediately jumped in with a smile. "Alright, alright. The little partners have great imaginations, but let’s not argue over such small things. Zuiyi, what do you think?"
She deliberately pushed the matter onto Ye Zuiyi.
Ye Zuiyi fidgeted with the hem of her clothes and gave a sweet smile. "Auntie is right, but I don’t think Brother Zimo is wrong, either. If Sister Jina has a problem with me, we don’t have to work together."
She only dared to say this because she was certain they wouldn’t leave.
Gu Zhao’s group was long gone, and Zhou Lan’s only options were to stick with them or go it alone.
And out on the savanna, traveling alone without experience was very dangerous.
The smile on Zhou Lan’s face froze, and her eyes instantly turned cold.
Provoked, Song Jina opened her mouth to fire back a retort, but Zhou Lan grabbed her arm.
Zhou Lan lowered her gaze. When she looked up again, her eyes were filled with a sense of helplessness and bitterness. "Zuiyi, it seems you’re angry with An’an. I’ll apologize on her behalf. Please don’t blame us for being a little ignorant; it’s just that we’ve truly never seen a wild animal listen to a person before."
"Young Master Ye, Miss Yu, I apologize to you both as well."
Ye Zexi snorted, showing her no respect at all. Best Actress or not, in their eyes, she was just an entertainer.
Not someone of any real standing.
[My heart aches for our Lanlan. I don’t think darling Jina said anything wrong. How could a wild animal possibly understand humans?]
[I’m here for my Queen Lan! What’s with these other guests?! Can’t a person even talk about their fantasies?]
[Does Ye Zexi think he can be that rude just because his family has some money?]
[Not even God himself could make a wild animal listen to a person! It’s a fucking wild animal! You’re lucky if it doesn’t rip your throat out!]
[I can’t believe this! They’re deliberately targeting my Lanlan and her daughter!]
His reaction left Zhou Lan in an awkward position, and a chill entered her eyes.
Ye Zuiyi, however, just turned and started walking in a random direction. ’I’m done pretending to be a good little girl,’ she thought. ’I’m the female lead. I should live like a true queen and crush Gu Zhao under my heel!’
’Especially now that my luck seems to have returned!’
’As for Zhou Lan... Hah. I saw plenty of these little tricks in my past life.’
Yu Zimo immediately followed her.
Yu Xiaowei felt awkward. She couldn’t just ignore Zhou Lan; she still had to make a living in the entertainment industry.
"Teacher Zhou, it’s getting dark. We should follow them," Yu Xiaowei said with a gentle smile.
Zhou Lan forced a smile. "Sigh. I really can’t keep up with the way you young people think anymore."
"Let’s go, An’an."
Song Jina was reluctant but followed her anyway.
Left behind, Yu Xiaowei gave a helpless smile.
’Son of a... Wow, this grass is really nice!’
Yu Xiaowei’s smile vanished as she hurried to catch up.
[The Wei Fen are seriously about to cry. Our poor baby.]
[Oh, heavens! What did we, the Wei Fen, do to deserve this? Are we heinous criminals?]
...
Watching the fish start to cook, Gu Zhao’s stomach rumbled. "Is it ready? Is it ready?"
Zhong Mingrui was just as anxious. "Brother Gu, I’m starving to death."
Flipping the fish, Gu Xulin looked speechlessly at the two people staring intently at the food. "Can’t you two learn from Song Yi?"
Song Yi, who was gathering twigs with Zhong Songzhe, heard his name and looked up. "Brother Gu, were you calling me?"
"Thanks for your hard work. I’ll give you two fish later," Gu Xulin said, his eyes full of admiration, as if for a neighbor’s well-behaved child.
Song Yi was overjoyed, but then he thought of something, and his smile vanished. He shook his head. "Brother Gu, please give my fish to Big King."
Zhong Mingrui was stunned. ’Is my good brother backstabbing me?’
"My... Big King, how about you give me yours instead..."
Alright, he admitted it: Song Yi had won.
’The grilled fish smells so good; I can’t bear to give it up. Big King! Please allow me to be a disloyal subject for a little while.’
’Once I’m done eating, I’ll be a good, loyal subject again!’
Gu Xulin didn’t overthink it. "She won’t go hungry. You eat it yourself. This is your reward."
But Song Yi just shook his head again, then lowered it and continued gathering twigs in silence.
Gu Zhao looked up at him, watched him for a moment, then got up and walked over.
Zhong Mingrui wanted to follow, but Gu Zhao told him to stay.
Song Zhe was completely oblivious and didn’t notice anything unusual about his younger brother. He was excitedly gathering twigs, muttering to himself, "One grilled fish, two grilled fish, three grilled fish..."
’Oh, mama! I can finally eat meat!’
He didn’t even notice Gu Zhao walking over.
"You’re unhappy," Gu Zhao said, walking up to Song Yi and taking his hand to sit down on the ground with him.
When Song Yi saw it was Gu Zhao, his eyes immediately welled up. "Big King, am I really fat?"
Gu Zhao asked, "Is it because of what she said about you at the airport?"
Song Yi nodded, keeping his head down. He didn’t dare look at Gu Zhao, afraid that she would look down on him too.
"Why do you care? Do you think you’re fat?"
Song Yi hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "My mom says I’m fat too."
Gu Zhao sighed. "So what? You’re going to make yourself miserable? Punish yourself because of someone else? Is your brain full of water? If she thinks you’re fat, then you should steal her food and help her lose weight. After all, if she thinks other people are fat, she must hate being fat herself. By taking her food, you’re helping her. She should thank you."
"As for you, if you feel you’re a little overweight, you can exercise moderately. You can lose weight for your own health and your own happiness, but you shouldn’t do it because someone else shamed you. That’s their fault, not yours."
Gu Zhao patted his head. "When you defended me at the airport, I thought you were so brave. So, should this Big King’s champion be afraid of her nasty words?"
Song Yi sniffled. "I am Big King’s champion! I’m not afraid! The next time I see her, I’m going to steal her food to help her lose weight!"
"In that case, Big King... can I have two fish?" Song Yi asked, looking at Gu Zhao.
Gu Zhao flatly refused. "No. You already said you were giving them to me."
Song Yi: "Okay."
[I was just about to cry from how touching that was, and then Big King pulls this stunt? I’m taking back one of my tears, HAHAHAHA.]
["Don’t be sad, but I’m also not giving you the fish," HAHAHAHA.]
[I’ve learned my lesson. If someone calls me fat, I’ll help them lose weight!]
A leopard hiding nearby smelled the grilling fish and glanced over at Gu Zhao.
It was about to step forward to find the Xiangxiangren when it suddenly froze.
’Shouldn’t I bring a gift when I visit?’
It sniffed itself. ’I’m a little smelly. I’ll catch a gift and then go take a bath.’
The leopard snuck away. Halfway there, it spotted an antelope and gave chase with all its might. All that effort paid off for the determined leopard... after it took a couple of tumbles, the antelope finally got away.
The leopard was utterly dejected, but luckily, it then spotted a black antelope that had been watching the whole spectacle.
The leopard grew excited. ’This one looks even tastier!’
With great effort, the leopard managed to catch it. It painstakingly dragged the antelope up a tree, then trotted off contentedly to take its bath, ready to bring its gift over and ask for pets once it was clean.
However, not long after it left, a group of humans happened to stop and rest in the shade right under the tree it had chosen.
"How much longer until we find a place to rest!" Song Jina was practically bursting with frustration.
She was exhausted and starving.
Ye Zuiyi was annoyed too, and she was no longer in the mood to coddle her. "If you want to rest, then rest. I’m not stopping you."
Ye Zexi couldn’t stand her constantly questioning his sister either. He said impatiently, "Don’t think I won’t smack you just because you’re a kid."
Song Jina couldn’t take it anymore. "We would have been better off with Gu Zhao’s group! At least we wouldn’t be chased by animals and have to watch you take all the credit for nothing!"
