Chapter 63: Chapter 63: The Benefits of Knowing a Foreign Language
Yu Zimo’s face instantly turned cold at the mention of Gu Zhao’s name.
Talk about one sentence pissing off three people.
Zhou Lan was exasperated. ’Oh, this daughter of mine and her big mouth...’ But she didn’t think her daughter was in the wrong.
She just gently soothed her, "An’an, Zuiyi is just trying her best to find a safe place for us to rest. You can’t talk like that, understand?"
"They might not even be as safe as we are over there."
She meant every word of it.
Those words helped quell some of Ye Zexi’s anger.
"Follow if you want, leave if you don’t. I don’t want to hear any more second-guessing."
Song Jina was fuming, but she refused to back down. She deliberately provoked her, "If you’re really so capable of getting animals to help, then have one bring us some food. I’m starving."
She had a self-heating rice meal, but there was only one box, and it required water. She had no intention of sharing it with them.
Yu Zimo now had absolute faith in Ye Zuiyi. He shot Song Jina a cold sneer. "Is that any way to ask for a favor?"
"If she can really do it, I’ll apologize to her!" Song Jina scoffed.
’Getting an animal to deliver food—what a pipe dream.’
Ye Zuiyi wanted to test if her luck had truly improved, but she was also afraid of the embarrassment if she failed and couldn’t salvage the situation.
With a gentle, helpless-looking smile, she said, "But there are no animals around. It’s not like I can make food fall from the sky, can I?"
The words had barely left her lips when there was a loud THUD.
Something fell from the tree, landing right in front of Ye Zuiyi.
Ye Zuiyi: ???
"It’s a goat!" Yu Zimo stared at it, utterly stunned. ’It actually worked! She’s truly the fairy I believed she was.’
Ye Zuiyi herself was stunned, her expression dazed.
Ye Zexi’s eyes, on the other hand, were filled with excitement. He knew it! His sister was a lucky charm! Unlike that psycho, Gu Zhao.
"Yibao, you really are our little lucky star!" Ye Zexi said, looking at Ye Zuiyi with a fond and excited expression.
Ye Zuiyi snapped out of her daze and lowered her head with a shy smile.
’Her eyes were filled with triumph. ’This is how it’s supposed to be! I’m the protagonist!’’
’Gu Zhao, your end is near.’
She recalled what her older brother had told her before filming began, and the triumphant excitement in her eyes grew even more pronounced.
Yu Xiaowei and Zhou Lan were both dumbfounded. ’It actually worked?’
Yu Xiaowei never thought that anyone besides Gu Zhao could be this lucky.
As for Song Jina, the color had drained from her face.
[WHOA, WHOA! Our Yibao is even more badass than Gu Zhao! A lucky Fubao?]
[I’m so jealous! She’s truly one of heaven’s favorites, getting whatever she asks for.]
[Suddenly, I’m kinda looking forward to Song Jina’s apology. Those bold words she just uttered are still fresh~]
"Apologize." The gentle expression Yu Zimo had when looking at Ye Zuiyi instantly iced over.
Zhou Lan was about to try and change the subject, but Song Jina, her eyes filled with resentment, muttered her apology. "Sorry."
Zhou Lan looked at Song Jina, her heart aching for her.
Ye Zuiyi didn’t say a word. ’The netizens would tear her apart anyway; no need to get my own hands dirty.’
"Brother, we still need to find a safe place," Ye Zuiyi said, once again demonstrating her leadership.
Ye Zexi had no objections.
After the spectacle of meat falling from a tree, no one else had any objections either.
Zhou Lan sighed helplessly, but she knew that in a place like this, she and her daughter couldn’t survive on their own.
Seeing that no one was challenging her, a hint of a smile appeared in Ye Zuiyi’s eyes.
Ye Zexi glanced at the impala, its fur a bit dirty, a look of disgust on his face. He casually ordered Yu Xiaowei, "You carry it."
Yu Xiaowei: ??!
Yu Zimo already disliked his "country bumpkin" sister. Not only would he not help her, but he shot her a glare as if it were the most natural thing in the world. "Hurry up. It’s getting dark."
Yu Xiaowei was speechless. She desperately wanted to run away.
But where could she go in this vast savanna? She had no choice but to start struggling to drag the impala.
Zhou Lan just offered a gentle smile. "That looks difficult."
With that, she pulled Song Jina along to keep up.
The group walked for a long time until Song Jina spotted a rocky area.
They decided to make camp there.
If Gu Zhao were here, she would surely be lamenting the damn protagonist’s halo.
Sharing Gu Zhao’s sentiment was a certain leopard, who had just finished cleaning itself.
The leopard’s eyes flew wide. It circled the tree several times, its expression growing more and more incredulous.
Where was its prey?!
Damn thief!!
...
"Xiangxiang! Xiangxiang Baby~" With a few roars, three tigers came running in Gu Zhao’s direction.
Each of the tigers was carrying prey in its mouth.
"Well now, are they here to deliver gifts?" Song Zhe rubbed his overstuffed belly, watching the tigers with a lazy grin.
Zhong Siqi was equally relaxed, slowly nibbling on some grilled fish. "I’m a little stuffed."
Having eaten and drunk his fill, Gu Xulin was sprawled out on the grass. He didn’t want to move a muscle. So full.
But he was still a little afraid of the furry creatures, so he squirmed like a maggot, shifting his position to be a little farther away from Gu Zhao.
Song Yi and Zhong Mingrui, on the other hand, were very excited.
Song Yi was excited about the tigers, while Zhong Mingrui was excited about the food. ’So what if I’m stuffed? I can eat more when I get hungry again!’
He welcomed all food with open arms!
"Big King! Big King! Are the animals they’re carrying for us?!" Zhong Mingrui stared at the creatures in the tigers’ mouths.
There was a wild deer, an ostrich, and a fat wild boar!
’He hadn’t tried any of them before!’
Gu Zhao was also lying down, full and content. Hearing Zhong Mingrui’s excited voice, she pried her eyes open with an effort.
’So fluffy...’
She eyed the tigers. ’They look more comfortable to sleep on than the grass.’
[Zhong Mingrui: So what if I’m stuffed? My stomach has infinite capacity! (For the next meal, that is.)]
[Brother Lin’s fear of animals still hasn’t gotten any better. Looks like Gu Zhao needs to ramp things up, or he’ll just keep holding her back. If he really can’t handle it, just let me take his place!!]
[To the person above, your ulterior motive is so loud I can hear it from my house.]
[Can’t you let me be in the show for a couple of episodes?! If not, I’ll be back to ask again next time!]
The tigers had reached Gu Zhao’s side. They dropped the animals from their mouths and nudged them toward her with their paws.
"Xiangxiang Baby, eat," one tiger rumbled, its eyes full of adoration for Gu Zhao.
’A Xiangxiang Baby like this must be protected by them.’
Gu Zhao stared blankly. "What’d you say?"
The tigers were also confused. "What did our Xiangxiang say?"
One tiger tilted its head. "I remember! I think there’s a leopard who can understand her. He came from somewhere else a while ago."
"I’ll go get him. You guys keep other animals away. Xiangxiang belongs to us!"
One of the tigers turned and ran off.
"Big King, why did it leave?" Song Yi asked, confused. "Don’t animals usually flock to you the moment they see you?"
’How could an animal run away from her?’
Gu Zhao didn’t understand either, but thankfully, there were still two tigers left.
Gu Zhao reached out to pet them, and the two tigers instantly lay down in bliss.
So what if they couldn’t understand the language? The animals still loved Gu Zhao!
Gu Zhao flopped right into a tiger’s embrace. ’So soft.’
Zhong Mingrui and Song Yi watched, their faces full of envy.
Night fell completely, but the moon and stars still provided some light.
The group gathered and lit a bonfire.
With two tigers standing guard, they had no fear of other animals.
Just then, the tiger that had left returned, bringing a leopard with it.
The leopard’s face was full of guilt. When it saw Gu Zhao, it looked like it was about to cry.
It was none other than the leopard whose kill had been stolen.
’If I find out who stole my gift, I’ll eat them!’
"Xiangxiang..." the leopard’s voice choked with emotion.
Gu Zhao’s eyes lit up. ’Holy shit, it’s speaking Chinese!’
