Chapter 720: Chapter 718: Maya is Truly Sweet [Part 2]
"Your old flame!" Liam’s tone carried a hint of jealousy.
Maya clung tightly to Liam, her brows furrowed in confusion. She couldn’t quite grasp who this "old flame" he spoke of might be.
Did she have an old flame? Wasn’t her only flame, both old and new, standing right before her as Liam?
They locked eyes, and seeing Maya’s puzzlement, Liam found it amusing and broke into a smile.
It suddenly dawned on Maya: "Oh! You’re talking about Brother Morris. Why is Brother Morris here?"
Liam, seeing her excitement, leaned in and gave her a playful bite on the lips: "Little tease, you actually admit he’s your old flame!"
Maya teased back mischievously: "You’ve already admitted it, how can I not?"
"Maya, do you think just because you’re pregnant, I won’t dare do anything to you,
Maya pouted: "Didn’t someone say the other day that even if I cheat, he wouldn’t blame me."
Liam, unable to contain his laughter, immediately leaned down, pinched her chin, and kissed her forcibly. Maya’s brows knitted as she lightly bit her lower lip, playfully saying, "Third brother, you’re naughty."
After a passionate kiss, Maya suddenly pushed Liam away, gently cupping his face with her hands, and asked, "Third brother, why is Brother Morris here so late?"
"He just went to see our sister. She knitted a sweater for the baby and asked him to bring it over." Liam didn’t keep her in suspense and didn’t tease her further.
As soon as he finished speaking, Maya felt a shock in her heart. For the past two years, she had been living too happily and nearly forgot about Jane Spencer, who was still in prison. She never imagined that Jane would still think of her, let alone knit a sweater for the baby.
Recalling Jane Spencer, Maya felt an indescribable mix of emotions, mostly regretful compassion.
After a brief pause, Maya lightly shook Liam’s shoulders and said, "Third brother, what kind of sweater is it? I’m quite eager to see."
Regarding Jane Spencer, Maya had let go; she received her due punishment, and holding onto animosity wouldn’t achieve anything meaningful.
Liam, seeing her curiosity, leaned down and gave her cheek a playful bite, teasingly saying, "Little tease, I’ll deal with you later."
He then took the sweater Lillian had brought and placed it in Maya’s arms.
Maya sat on the bed, looking at the small sweater in her hands, feeling a slight pang of melancholy.
She gently stroked the sweater and the tiny fuzzy shoes, a comforting smile emerging on her lips as she looked at Liam and said, "Third brother, the baby will look great in these clothes."
Liam tenderly stroked her face, smiling and nodding, "Yes! They’ll look wonderful."
"Third brother, put them in the baby’s closet. Tomorrow, let’s go to the baby store and get a few more things for the baby."
The baby was only five months along, but the baby items at home were already piling up, all personally selected by Liam and Maya.
Seeing she was in a good mood, Liam put the clothes in the closet, then lay down beside her, lifting her chin,
The next morning, after they woke up, Liam drove Maya to the department store for a pre-New Year shopping spree, picking out a massive haul of baby supplies together.
At that moment, Maya stood at the entrance of a store, eyes sparkling as she looked at the matching family outfits on the mannequin, clinging to Liam’s arm and swaying him, "Third brother, this family outfit is so cute, I really want it."
Liam felt helpless; if it were any normal family outfit, he wouldn’t mind.
However, what Maya had her eye on was a fluffy white bunny suit, even the dad’s outfit was a bunny. Having the dignified Mr. Spencer dress up as a rabbit truly challenged his notion of masculinity.
"Honey, buy it! Buy it! The little yellow duck and Little Panda ones are adorable too, I want them all."
"..." Liam was at a loss.
He knew that once the clothes were bought, Maya would definitely make him wear them. But such cute clothes, they suited Maya, not him.
Thus, he reluctantly ruffled her hair: "Darling, it’s fine to buy them, but you can’t make me wear them. If we have guests over, you have to hide the clothes, don’t let anyone see them."
Liam thought, no matter what, he’d never wear those clothes.
Maya made a sincere promise: "I absolutely won’t force you to wear them, I’ll just buy them to display. I and the baby can wear them."
Yet, when they returned home that afternoon, under Maya’s persuasion, Liam ended up wearing a little yellow duck outfit, looking irresistibly adorable.
On the sofa, Liam covered his face, curled up into a ball, and spoke in deep resentment, "Darling, I don’t want to talk to you, you broke your promise."
To make Maya happy, Liam was willing to do anything. He used to hardly ever smile, but now for Maya, he was willing to do anything.
Before meeting Maya, Liam would never have imagined he’d one day dress up as a giant duck.
Seeing Liam bashful, Maya hurriedly picked up her phone and aimed it at him, "Honey, give me a smile."
At this moment, she herself was also dressed as a little yellow duck, even putting the baby’s clothes on a stuffed animal, saying it was an early taste of parenthood.
