Chapter 15: Reading The Novel

The tower has reset.

Charles was familiar with this concept. After all, the main character had experienced it many times.

It was common for an adventurer to start his journey into a tower too late, and on the way towards reaching the top, the tower would unfortunately reset.

For Charles, he did not find this all too unfortunate. After all, it gave him new opportunities.

Charles walked over to Charlotte and was about to feed her the Molten Nectar.

Then, he froze for a moment and looked down at himself.

He was covered in sand and Greatworm saliva.

...

"Alright, I’ll bathe first."

...

Since the bathtub was set up with some strange plumbing system that allowed its taps to produce water, Charles was able to bathe and wash his clothes afterwards.

Then, he left them out to dry and wore only black pants.

Since he was barefoot, he felt very much at home.

All I need now is a good web novel to read.

After laughing to himself, Charles brought the sweet nectar vial over to Charlotte.

After sitting her up in the bed, he opened the vial and poured the red liquid into her mouth.

As it slid down her throat, Charlotte’s body filled with a new glow once again.

Her hair grew slightly longer and seemed to try to gain some colour, but failed to. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

Her skin became less pale.

Her body became less slender and slightly more fit.

Then, her eyes opened, revealing her silver irises. Her eyelashes fluttered a few times as she realised she was awake.

Her eyes landed on Charles, who still held the vial in his hand. She immediately felt gratitude take over her body.

Then, when she noticed he was shirtless, she blushed slightly but didn’t look away.

"You saved me again," she said with a smile.

Charles smiled too, though his was to hide his pride. Afterwards, he scratched his head.

"How do you feel?"

"Better... Much, much better. I think..."

Charlotte cut off her sentence and suddenly pulled the covers off her body. Her legs were lean and healthy.

Then, she swung her legs off the bed and landed her bare feet on the cold ground.

Charles watched silently, with his mouth slightly open. He knew what she was going to do.

"Are you sure you’re ready to—"

Charlotte stood up.

"..."

Charles found himself standing face-to-face with Charlotte for the first time. Except with his new height, she was half a head shorter than him.

A smile slowly started to spread across her face. It revealed a row of shiny white teeth.

"I can stand, Charles! Look, I can stand!"

Charlotte started jumping around in joy.

For so long, she had to rely on her notebook to write things into existence in order to get them done. Nothing could be done using her own body.

Now, she felt like a baby who had just learned how to walk.

Charles watched, feeling happy. Not just for her, but for himself too.

He was not prideful, but he didn’t ignore the fact that without him, this wouldn’t have happened.

He had done a good deed which he did not have to do.

He had helped his all-time favourite author in a way that was even better than simply buying her Chapter releases.

He had helped a paraplegic learn to walk again.

Now, he got to watch the fruits of his hard work.

"Be careful now. You don’t want to use up all of your energy. You don’t know what you might need to use it for."

Charlotte stopped jumping around. Her face became a bit more serious, but still carried joy.

"You’re right. The tower’s reset, didn’t it? I should save my energy to come and help you clear the floors."

Charles’ eyes widened.

"What? No. That isn’t what I was suggesting. You should stay here and continue resting. Your body isn’t ready to do anything too physical yet." freeweɓnovel.cѳm

Charlotte blinked a few times and unknowingly pouted her lip.

That face... Why does it make me feel so bad?

"Don’t worry, there’s other uses you have, Charlotte. First, you should use that notebook to figure out more about the current state of the world. Who knows what’s been happening as time has been passing?"

Charlotte thought for a few seconds and then nodded her head in agreement.

"You’re right. Now that I have a bit more strength, there are a lot of things I need to do in my notebook. Otherwise, there’s no way we’ll ever keep up with ’his’ plans."

There it is. More mention of "him."

Now that Charlotte had gained more power, Charles started to wonder when she would be able to tell him more about this villain.

For now, it would have to wait.

Charlotte took a seat on the edge of her bed and opened her notebook. She made sure to keep it out of Charles’ eyesight.

Afterwards, she began to flip through some pages and examine them carefully.

After a minute or so had passed, she nodded her head and closed the book.

"We need to get out of here as soon as possible," she said in a serious tone.

"What... Why? What did you see?"

Charlotte took in a deep breath and let it out.

"The three kingdoms who are at war with the Silverblessed Kingdom are finally coming to Elurion. They have received an anonymous tip saying that the curse of this city has been lifted and that they should come and storm it. Most importantly, they have been told to come here, to the 100th floor."

In other words, their hiding spot had been found.
