Chapter 119: Chapter Eleven: The Deep Sea
Hearing Lafra’s voice, Chen Ze inexplicably panicked a little. It wasn’t that Chen Ze had done anything guilty; after all, he didn’t think he had done anything in the first place.
But Chen Ze was still very anxious, which was probably like the feeling when your homeroom teacher suddenly told you to have your parents come to the school.
The person involved often falls into panic, constantly pondering whether they did something wrong or maybe their exam scores were poor.
In fact, the teacher might only want to talk about learning methods.
Chen Ze scratched his head and peeked out. Betty had already gone upstairs to take a bath and change clothes.
"Haha... Lafra, what would you like to eat today?" Chen Ze wore a forced smile; he was indeed feeling a bit flustered now.
Then Chen Ze saw Lafra and couldn’t help but brighten up; Lafra’s outfit today was quite different from before.
The same blood-red dress, but even more gorgeous, and one could even see some gemstone decorations.
Her delicate face and those blood-red eyes were anxiously staring at him.
"You... what are you staring at!" Lafra panicked a bit under Chen Ze’s gaze; she had specifically asked the Head Maid to prepare a dress for her today.
Lafra unconsciously touched her long hair, which released a faint scent of ice vanilla.
"Lafra, you look very pretty today," Chen Ze complimented.
If Lafra’s beauty was one unit of prettiness before, then today’s Lafra was 1.5 units of prettiness.
"Jerk! Go to hell!" Lafra, annoyed, stamped her foot and then pulled out something to smash into Chen Ze’s face. freewebnovёl.ƈom
The object hadn’t even reached Chen Ze’s face when it was blocked by a purple Magic Circle, then gently fell into Chen Ze’s hand.
[Detected an item that can be absorbed, would you like to absorb?]
The System gave a prompt right away, causing Chen Ze to pause; he hadn’t expected that something given by Lafra could also be absorbed.
This tempted Chen Ze a bit; the last time Stan gave him something, his progress bar had gone more than half full. If he absorbed the item Lafra gave, did that mean his progress could be filled?
Chen Ze looked down at the item in his hand, which was a rather exquisite small bottle containing a deep blue liquid that looked even more magnificent under the light.
Stan scooped up a spoonful of Buffet with his left hand and slowly placed it into his mouth, watching Lafra with interest. The Vampire’s face was now as red as magma, which was quite amusing.
"What is this?" Chen Ze didn’t immediately absorb it since the item was thrown over by Lafra and didn’t belong to him. Chen Ze decided to ask Lafra first before making a decision.
Lafra had already taken a seat, and Chen Ze twitched the corner of his mouth; he noticed she seemed to like sitting in that particular spot quite a bit.
Lafra didn’t turn her face toward Chen Ze but looked sideways toward the direction of the restaurant’s door. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
"This is for the meal, and also, I want to trade this for cola, I want... a case a day!" Hearing Lafra’s words, Chen Ze glanced at the item in his hand; was it really that valuable?
One case per day, and since Lafra didn’t specify a time frame, did that mean she planned to come and get a case every day?
"Deep Sea, it can enhance the sensitivity of your hands," Stan explained.
Chen Ze looked at the small bottle with delight; for a chef like him who had started cooking halfway through life, improving his culinary skills meant diligent practice and a bit of innate talent.
And Chen Ze was somewhat clumsy, unable to even beat the EX difficulty in rhythm games, chopping meat cubes that looked more like chunks at the beginning.
So, this bottle of Deep Sea was genuinely precious for Chen Ze; even this small bottle could save him so much time.
"La... Lafra, can I really take this?" Chen Ze was so excited he was almost lost for words.
"It was meant for you anyway..." Lafra murmured to herself.
"Hmm, if you kneel and kiss my foot, I might just give it to you..." But what she said out loud was something else altogether.
"You must want to see him every day," Stan suddenly interjected.
"Manager, I’m sorry, I’m late..." Betty, who was coming down, stopped in her tracks.
The restaurant fell into an eerie silence.
Lafra’s body trembled slightly, then the trembling grew more violent, and in the next second, Lafra had darted in front of Stan and punched him in the jaw.
Her punch sent Stan’s head crashing into the ceiling, and then Chen Ze saw Stan calmly swallow down the Buffet in his mouth.
Moreover, Lafra, now clad in a suit of striking red Armor, looked exceptionally stylish.
Chen Ze blinked. What was happening? Was this a Vampire or a Gundam?
Chen Ze rubbed his eyes, suspecting he had walked onto the wrong movie set.
"Stan, let’s settle our past scores," Lafra’s voice was particularly icy, carrying a disquieting aura.
Stan’s head slowly flew back onto his neck, and he reached up to hold it and turned it a few times.
"You’re not up to it," Stan said calmly, then picked up his spoon for another scoop of Buffet.
A foreboding aura swirled around Lafra’s armor, with thick red mist rolling continuously, indicating Lafra meant serious business.
"Um... Lafra, I made you some Coca-Cola chicken wings, want to try it?" Chen Ze awkwardly brought out the chicken wings he’d made from the kitchen.
Lafra, who had already picked up the long sword on her back, paused, then turned around and sat back down in her seat.
As she sat down, the Armor on Lafra dissipated into the air, and the splendidly dressed Lafra was once again in everyone’s sight.
But Lafra’s face was red, and she hummed with her arms crossed and her head tilted to the side.
"Lowly human, in consideration of the dish you’ve prepared for me, I’ll give you face. Now hurry up and kneel to thank me," Chen Ze couldn’t help but smile at Lafra’s words.
Without knowing any better, Chen Ze might have thought he had inadvertently eaten a red-haired face fruit.
Betty carefully came down with her skirt held up, sensing the atmosphere in the restaurant and feeling it might not be the best timing for her arrival.
Chen Ze placed the Coca-Cola chicken wings in front of Lafra and then prepared to return to the kitchen, planning to absorb the deep sea creature.
Chen Ze was curious about how much progress he’d gain from the absorption and what would happen once it was complete.
[Would you like to absorb?]The System prompted again.
"Deep sea stuff must be hard to buy, huh? That’s the last bottle," Stan said as he ate the last spoonful of Buffet.
"What’s it to you!" Lafra snapped at Stan, puffing with anger.
Chen Ze was taken aback.
[Would you like to absorb?]
"Not right now."
