Chapter 118: Chapter 10 Lafra and Valentine’s Day

Lady Lafra propped her chin, sitting dazedly on her throne, unsure of what she was thinking as thousands of thoughts incessantly flickered through her mind.

In the silent Blood-Red Palace, only the sound of Lafra’s fingers occasionally knocking on the table could be heard, while the maids serving her silently bustled about.

Lafra waved her hand, and the air was torn by a blood-red energy, bringing forth a bottle encased in ice at her side.

The ice blocks quickly melted, and the cola bottle was twisted open by a mysterious force, as the chilled cola slowly floated out and into the cup in Lafra’s left hand.

"Plunk, plunk, plunk~" The Head Maid couldn’t help but curve her lips into a smile upon hearing the sound.

Lady Lafra was drinking cola again, that seemingly magical beverage she treasured so much that not even her personal maids had tasted it.

You should know, Lafra was not a stingy person, often rewarding her servants with precious gifts.

But this item, referred to by Lady Lafra as cola, had never been shared before.

The Head Maid glanced at the main door of the palace where a cadre of Death Knights stood guard, one of whom wore a ring on his hand.

It wasn’t strange for a Death Knight to wear a ring, what was strange was that this ring didn’t look valuable.

The Head Maid nodded in satisfaction, thinking it was indeed the right choice to recruit a Death Knight into Lady Lafra’s fan club, otherwise Lafra’s adorable cola-drinking moments could not have been preserved.

Lafra let out a contented sigh; this thing called cola, no matter how many times she drank it, always satisfied her so.

As the ice-cold cola slid down her throat, she could feel the tingling of the fizz, and although it did not taste as good as the Elf Race’s fine wine offered by her subordinates, Lafra simply loved this Otherworld item known as cola.

"Hmph," Lafra huffed dissatisfiedly, startling the maids around her, who trembled as they looked at her.

Although Lafra was adorable, she was still a formidable being, despairingly powerful.

Her cute appearance often made people overlook this fact, but enemies who disregarded it paid a heavy price, with no chance to reflect on their mistakes.

Damn humans! Lafra clenched her teeth and grasped the cup with rage, as drinking cola now inevitably reminded her of Chen Ze’s face.

And the incident that day in the kitchen when that person clasped her hand while cooking.

At that thought, Lafra wished she could drain Chen Ze’s blood and hang his soul on the Soul Branding Pillar to burn for ten thousand years.

Lafra looked down at her hand, seemingly still able to feel the human’s warmth.

The Head Maid, observing Lafra with a somewhat flushed face, felt her heart nearly melt, wondering if she’d managed to record the scene.

"Freya," Lafra suddenly spoke.

The Head Maid respectfully bowed her head, standing beside Lafra, waiting for her mistress’s command.

"Go to the Abyssal Demon Flower Shop, buy that bottle of Deep Sea," Lafra said, biting her lip.

"As you wish, master," the Head Maid bowed and stepped back a few paces, then took a step forward, and with a flash of intricate magic, she vanished into thin air.

Teleportation magic was a skill only a Grade Eight Professional could master, yet such a powerful individual served as a Head Maid for Lafra, truly a terrifying thought.

"It’s not because of that jerk!" Lafra stomped her foot, then leaned on the table, covering her face with her hands.

After a while, Lafra slightly lifted her head, her blushing face and gentle eyes nearly caused the maid cleaning the table beside her to let out a cry.

"This feels... not bad at all..." came an exceptionally soft voice.

The maid expressionlessly retreated outside of the palace, then covered her chest, feeling as if she could die now and it would be worth it. freewёbnoνel.com

Chen Ze stood baffled in the kitchen, Sebastian and the others had already gone back, and per Chen Ze’s request, the meal cost was paid in Gold Coins, allowing Chen Ze to then pay Alisa for the Dragon Meat.

Stan, on the other hand, acted out of character and ordered forty servings of Buffet, continuing to feast in the restaurant.

Although Stan had an unemotional face, Chen Ze could somehow make out a feeling of schadenfreude and delight on Stan’s face.

Heaven knows how Chen Ze could read such expressions from Stan’s deadpan face.

Chen Ze quietly opened the refrigerator, which contained five bottles of cola.

There were also several boxes of cola stored in the warehouse, which Chen Ze had prepared specifically because he wasn’t sure if there would be other guests who liked cola.

With the mindset that it was better to buy early than late, Chen Ze had prepared quite an amount of cola.

Chen Ze took out his phone to check the date, then noticed that today was already February 14th.

It was a special day, though Chen Ze didn’t care about it at all – after all, as someone who had been single for 26 years since birth, Valentine’s Day was essentially a barrage of malice towards singles everywhere.

All the promotions like couples getting half-price deals or couples’ kissing challenges had nothing to do with Chen Ze, more likely, he’d just get a mouthful of PDA when stepping outside.

"But today must be the most uneventful Valentine’s Day ever, right?" Chen Ze stroked his chin.

Thinking about how couples could only dine at home and couldn’t go out to flaunt their love, Chen Ze suddenly felt much better.

"I’ll make some Cola Chicken Wings. If Lafra comes with a knife, I can at least block her mouth with some delicious food." Chen Ze wasn’t sure what Lafra really intended to do, but just in case, it was better to prepare a new dish.

Cola Chicken Wings, a rather simple dish, no longer posed a challenge for Chen Ze, and before long, he had made the first serving of Cola Chicken Wings.

[You have made a regular serving of Cola Chicken Wings, gaining 3 points of experience in home cooking.]

Chen Ze stared at the Cola Chicken Wings before him, deep in thought.

He remembered when he first looked up the recipe, he had heard of some even more miraculous versions of chicken wings.

For example, green chicken wings, Sprite chicken wings, and even Fanta chicken wings. Most astonishing of all, Chen Ze saw a master on a forum make Banlangen (Isatis root) chicken wings...

At the time, Chen Ze couldn’t help but slap his thigh in admiration; brilliant, eating chicken wings while simultaneously taking medicine, though he wondered what it tasted like.

Regardless, if that forum poster dared to serve him those Banlangen chicken wings, Chen Ze wouldn’t mind shoving the whole plate into the poster’s mouth.

The pleasing sound of Wind Chimes made Chen Ze’s heart suddenly jolt.

"Manager, I’m here for work~ Eh? Mr. Stan, long time no see." Chen Ze let out a sigh of relief, it was Betty.

Then the sound of Wind Chimes rang again, followed by that familiar voice.

"Hmph!"
