Chapter 117: Chapter 9 The Chef’s Intentions
What is affection?
Chen Ze didn’t think the image he had just imagined was affection, although it indeed contained what’s called love.
After all, if it’s a confession, shouldn’t it be like this?
Probably...
Chen Ze scratched his head, and he ultimately decided to try and create tailored dishes for his customers.
Everyone’s taste is different, it’s impossible to ask someone who loves sweets to suddenly fall for spicy food, nor to expect someone who never eats fish to become fond of it.
This went beyond what an ordinary chef could do, so Chen Ze planned to try it his own way to see if it could help improve his cooking skills.
Stan was stunned, he really hadn’t expected Chen Ze to ask him this question.
Did Buffet have a flavor? In Stan’s view, Buffet’s taste was probably sweet, and if he had to point out a difference in each Buffet, it could only be that he quite liked some of the things added to it.
"Black Buffet," Stan said, not really knowing what that black stuff was, just feeling it was delicious and even sweeter.
Chen Ze blinked, Black Buffet? What the heck was that? Chen Ze didn’t remember selling such a dark cuisine.
Then Chen Ze recalled that when making Buffet, he sometimes added chocolate, which indeed looked black.
"All right, Mr. Stan, please wait a moment," Chen Ze nodded and then headed back to the kitchen to start preparing the dish Stan asked for.
"Riesel, aren’t you afraid..." Karelina cautiously tugged at Riesel’s clothes, eyeing Stan warily.
She was quite certain that Stan had indeed been looking at her with an evaluating glance, which sent shivers down her spine.
"Mr. Stan is also a regular customer of Dream Restaurant, don’t worry," Riesel used to be uncomfortable too, but later he didn’t mind anymore.
Stan rarely spoke, the type whose words over several months wouldn’t add up to enough for one episode of an animated series.
Riesel had also gotten used to Stan silently coming in, quietly enjoying his Buffet, and then leaving just as silently.
Stan glanced at the three dragons, then suddenly spoke.
"You’d better leave quickly," Stan said very calmly, without any emotional fluctuation.
Sebastian exchanged a surprised look with Riesel, this was only the second time Stan had voluntarily spoken to them.
"Mr. Stan, may I ask why?" Riesel asked frowning.
He didn’t think Stan was threatening them, as there was no need for someone as powerful as Stan to do so, and besides, Stan had never objected to their presence there before.
Karelina nervously shifted her body, then dispelled her transformation, planning to revert to her Dragon form—as a Sprite Dragon she didn’t stand a chance against Stan.
Though it wouldn’t make much difference even if she did transform.
"Karelina! Don’t change..." Sebastian hastily reminded, still remembering the miserable outcome of his own last transformation.
But it was too late for Sebastian to stop her, a flash of light passed, and the petite Sprite Dragon looked at her own body in bewilderment.
Stan glanced at them and then turned his attention back to the table, his interest solely in the Buffet.
"Sebastian, do you know something?" Riesel frowned, holding the shrunken Karelina in the palm of his hand, and then queried his companion.
"Nothing much has been happening in the negative planes lately..." Sebastian swished his tail, not remembering any significant events.
"Well, let’s wait a bit longer, finish the remaining dishes, and then we’ll go." Riesel hesitated for a moment but decided to stay, as no one could possibly start a fight in the restaurant.
Meanwhile, Chen Ze was in the kitchen making Buffet, but this time the Buffet was a little different from before.
Chen Ze tried grinding the chocolate into tiny pieces and mixing it into the whipped cream, ending up with a slightly odd-looking Buffet.
Trembling, Chen Ze placed a strawberry on top, completing the Buffet. He had no idea what sort of evaluation the System would give to his creation.
[You have made a standard Buffet. Dessert-making experience has increased by 3 points.]
[The standard Buffet has received a temporary enhancement effect.]
[A standard Buffet (Mr. Stan’s exclusive)]
Chen Ze was pleasantly surprised by the notification, his guess had been correct.
He thought, sentiment wasn’t just about simple love or friendship, after all, he was just a chef, not really friends with these customers, let alone love.
Satisfied, Chen Ze stroked his chin. Even though the Buffet didn’t have any special effects and was only rated as standard, at least he had found a way to move forward. From now on, he just needed to thoroughly research sentiment, and then he could create his own signature dishes.
Humming a tune cheerfully, Chen Ze brought the Buffet and the other dishes out, placing them in front of each customer.
"Mr. Stan, please enjoy." Chen Ze was in a great mood and was eager to hear Stan’s feedback.
Stan picked up a spoon, then put it down again.
Chen Ze blinked. Had Stan lost his appetite just by looking at it? That shouldn’t be the case, as Chen Ze had put some effort into making it look presentable.
Maybe it required a bit more effort?
"Manager, let’s close up for today," Stan said, looking seriously at Chen Ze.
Chen Ze was flabbergasted, while Riesel gave Stan a surprised look, then glanced at Chen Ze, more or less understanding that a problem had come Chen Ze’s way.
"Eh? Why?" Chen Ze began to wonder if he had made some strange dish.
"Lafra bought a potion," Stan said tersely. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
Chen Ze blinked. What did Lafra buying a potion have to do with him?
"Could it be the cola I gave her last time had some quality issues?" Chen Ze wondered, scratching his head in confusion.
Stan gave Chen Ze a look and then lowered his head to continue enjoying his Buffet. Since he had said what he wanted to say, Stan decided to focus on his dessert.
"Lafra? Could it be the Scarlet Blood Ancestor?" Karelina asked, perched in the palm of Riesel’s hand. She was even more shocked now; just what kind of establishment was this restaurant, where all the customers were such important figures.
Karelina felt that if the Pope of the Church of Light and the Sea King walked in together, she wouldn’t be surprised anymore.
Riesel glanced at Karelina. He wanted to say that the biggest player hadn’t arrived yet, but Sebastian had indeed seen Him. freewebnoveℓ.com
Chen Ze hesitated before returning to the kitchen but decided not to close up; after all, other customers might come later.
Stan looked up at Chen Ze’s retreating back and smiled. He felt there would be some fun soon, so he planned to order another twenty special Buffets to enjoy while watching the show. That was true luxury.
It seemed Lafra was serious, Stan thought as he ate his Buffet.
