Chapter 82: Chapter 82: You Know, This Kid Saved My Life

’Can he ask anything useful?’

’What bullshit experience? He just wants to show off for the camera...’

’The two survivors this time... I have no words...’

The Fly Tiger guys just exchanged a few glances, nearly roasting everything they ever wanted to complain about in this life.

Xiong Jie could obviously see the looks that crowd was giving each other, but he didn’t care at all.

Not gonna lie, he really did have a big secret, but he couldn’t spill it out.

But compared to the secret Jiang Che was hiding, the ones he knew were so tiny it wasn’t even worth mentioning.

In front of Jiang Che’s secret, it didn’t even make a ripple.

He couldn’t help but want to laugh—the two "dumbest" guys in Fly Tiger’s eyes were actually the ones keeping the biggest secrets.

This time’s livestream—fine, let’s show off then—he wanted to flex anyway.

The livestream camera was quickly set up, with the five Fly Tigers, Jiang Che, and Xiong Jie all appearing on screen.

The audience was ready—Fly Tiger had dropped a teaser before setting out, and the moment the stream went live, the viewers flooded in like crazy.

"Hey everyone, I’m Fanben." The Fly Tiger lead spoke first before the camera. "I’ll be your host for today’s livestream."

"Sorry we’re late—honestly didn’t expect anyone to walk out alive, so we didn’t head out in advance," Fanben joked, cracking up the bullet chat instantly.

The gifts started pouring in madly.

Even with humanity at this point, money hadn’t lost its grip—if anything, it just got more important.

His joke instantly got the audience going,

[Yeah, we didn’t expect anyone to survive either.]

[I totally thought they got eaten at the end. Didn’t expect to see them walk out for real!]

[Seriously, out of all those people, just TWO made it? That should’ve been impossible.]

[Sometimes, you just gotta trust luck.]

...

Fanben glanced at the bullet chats. Most folks thought the same as them—"luck," "no way," and so on...

What experience could guys like that possibly share?

"We may be late, but we still found this run’s survivors. If possible, I want to run a physical test on you two later. Let’s see what kind of stats you get from clearing an SSS-tier Dungeon." Fanben stepped aside so the cam focused on Jiang Che and Xiong Jie, sitting off to the side.

"So, let me ask you two—how did you survive in those last moments?" Fanben’s question was blunt—no lame stuff like height, weight, or hobbies; that’s not what the viewers wanted.

"Honestly, at that moment, Jiang Che and I got swallowed." Xiong Jie didn’t even try to come up with some fairytale; he knew a "miraculous clutch" ending would sound fake as hell.

"You know what? The second we were inside, we saw the monster’s mouth full of sparkling crystals."

"That stuff was super attractive, and just bursting with Life Energy." Xiong Jie started explaining what happened inside the monster’s mouth.

"Jiang Che and I, one in each hand—we each scraped off two," Xiong Jie said. The further Fanben listened, the wilder it sounded.

Even if there was stuff inside the monster’s mouth, it shouldn’t be that easy to grab, right?

Most importantly, the lie detector right next to them didn’t go off?!

Wait, is this guy actually good at this?

"Of course, it wasn’t that easy." Xiong Jie took a deep breath and grabbed Jiang Che’s hand. "You all know it, a lot of people know it—I got screwed by that thing before."

He held up that damned watch, and a lot of people instantly remembered how he’d gotten scammed before.

Rewind Time, for only one second—you go back to where you were a second ago.

It’s a really lame item—against an Evil Spirit, hardly does anything except change getting hit once into getting hit twice.

"You guessed right. We were swallowed, then I saw those things, looked super tempting, so we both grabbed two each."

"Then I used Rewind, but used it on the monster."

"One second is only enough to turn its mouth from shut to slightly open, but that gave us both time to reach the exit."

"You know how it works—you can take items into the Dungeon, and anything you’re touching on your way out, you can take out...so we ended up with these two."

...

Xiong Jie finished excitedly, and the room fell into dead silence.

Two of the Fly Tigers wanted to just yell, the fuck!

Everyone knew Xiong Jie’s item—it was total garbage.

Time rewind is a great ability, but if it’s only for one second, it’s almost useless.

If it wasn’t for a perfect match in time, place, and people, it’s worth nothing.

"But we didn’t come out untouched in the monster’s mouth; we got seriously hurt, almost died right after we made it out." Xiong Jie stretched out his hand, and you could see fresh scars from newer flesh growing in.

"We just touched a little of the monster’s spit, and it almost corroded us."

"We only recovered after eating one of them, which proves these crystals are crazy full of Life Energy!" Without a care, Xiong Jie whipped out his Life Essence from his pocket.

Jiang Che also pulled one out of his pocket when Xiong Jie signaled him.

In that moment, everyone was speechless.

[Honestly, the more I listen, the more I actually believe this happened!]

[Wait, how did such a trash item get played this well?!]

[These are straight-up children of fate! I used to think that psycho was lucky, but now that I see it, Xiong Jie’s luck is god-tier!]

...

"Just to be clear, even though we each have one left, nobody should even think about making a move on them."

"You know how it goes—we’d rather die than hand one over, even if it goes to waste." He stared the camera down hard.

"You say it too," he said, nudging Jiang Che, "We’d rather die than give it away."

...

Fanben took a deep breath; he felt like he was losing his mind.

This world is just too damn crazy!

Xiong Jie’s story sounded nuts, but every detail checked out.

He could feel it—Jiang Che and Xiong Jie each had one on them, for real.

The energy coming off that Life Essence was just way too strong.

"So that’s how it went—but for real, why just hand over such a strong artifact?" Fanben pointed to Jiang Che’s wrist.

Seriously, such a powerful item—shouldn’t you keep it?

"You know how it is—this kid saved my ass once," Xiong Jie said with a straight face.

"And that Rewind-Ability is strong as hell. I figured he was the right guy for it," he sighed quietly.

’Cause he really couldn’t use that thing, but in Jiang Che’s hands, it’d probably be useful in the future.

Can’t help it if you’ve got a wife who’s an Evil Spirit, right?

Fanben took another breath—what an old fox!

Used a useless artifact to earn Jiang Che’s trust!

Now he was dead sure—no way he’d ever poach Jiang Che from his team.

This sly old fox was definitely after the last Life Essence Jiang Che still had!
