Chapter 398: ANOTHER ENCOUNTER
"You look like you’ve grown taller than the last time I saw you," Felicia said to Jake as she cupped his chubby cheeks.
The latter didn’t respond much but only managed to break a smile on his lips so things wouldn’t look too awkward.
It was the weekend and as discussed, Erika had brought Jake to come see Felicia. She had to force him to come see Felicia since he didn’t agree to come for the past two weeks.
Erika finally understood why Jake had been acting so detached from Felicia. After much thinking, Erika finally decided to ask Jake why he didn’t like being around Felicia, and he replied by saying that the people at the orphanage always told him that his mother was a criminal, and always caused her trouble.
Erika didn’t know what to think.
She didn’t know if she should continue letting Felicia see Jake or not. The answer was obvious and Erika couldn’t help but release a sigh.
She had hoped that things would change after she’d explained things to him but he seems to dislike Felicia.
"Have you been eating well? How’s school? Do you do your homework properly?" Felicia’s questions towards Jake cut Erika out of her thoughts and she stared at Jake who only smiled at her and nodded to her question. "That’s a good boy," Felicia brought Jake closer to her and hugged him.
After a few seconds, Jake started to struggle to get free from Felicia and he ran towards Erika and sat down beside her.
"School has been great and my mummy has been taking very good care of me, Miss Felicia," Jake responded to Felicia. freewēbnoveℓ.com
Erika’s eyes widened slightly when she heard Jake call Felicia by her name and not ’mummy.’ She also didn’t fail to notice how Felicia’s mouth twitched and her fist clenched tightly together as she tried to suppress her anger.
"I’m glad that you are doing well in school," Felicia said with a tight smile.
Her gaze tore from Jake to stare at Erika. "I’m glad you are helping MY SON." Felicia made sure to emphasize on ’my son’ but Erika only stared at her with a calm gaze before she sighed. She was too tired to argue with Felicia.
"My mummy is the best," said Jake. A proud smirk appeared on Erika’s lips since it seemed like Jake had fought her battle for her.
Felicia’s eyes twitched. She bit her tongue to not say any inappropriate thing to Jake. He was still her son after all.
Facing Erika, she said, "You said you wanted to bring Jake to see me because you wanted him to get familiar with him after Adrain’s death. But what’s this?"
Erika stared at Felicia with a questionable gaze, as she was not able to understand where Felicia was going with the discussion.
"How am I going to bond with my son if you don’t leave him with me even for a second? Do you think I’m going to kidnap him or something? In case you are blind, I’m in jail and that’s completely impossible."
"Just because you are in jail doesn’t mean you don’t have a trick up your sleeves. I know you, Felicia, I know you well and I’m sure you are planning something. And no, before you suggest again, I won’t leave you alone with Jake," Erika responded with the same bitterness.
She sized Felicia up before she decided to glance at her wristwatch.
"It’s almost 4 pm. We need to go home, it’s getting late," Erika said and Jake nodded.
He eyes his biological mother who was glaring at his adoptive mother before he stood up from the hard bench.
He didn’t bother to say goodbye and they both left Felicia.

Erika dropped Jake at the mansion and drove towards a specific location.
A smirk was playing on her lips on her way towards the location and she couldn’t wait to get there. freewebnovel.cσ๓
Reaching the gate of the house, Erika honked and the gate opened. She drove inside the estate. Erika cut the engines of the car after she’d reached her destination.
She looked at the house. It wasn’t huge like a mansion. Just a good-looking apartment that looked fancy and didn’t scream rich too much. It was a simple one-story house with a wide yard. A fountain was found in the middle, beautiful trees everywhere but no bodyguard in sight.
Erika smirked. "This is good, no one will bother to interrupt me when I’m teaching that bitch a lesson," Erika said to herself.
Getting out of the car, she strode towards the main entrance of the car while darting her eyes around in case she saw a single bodyguard but still she didn’t. And also, she couldn’t see any maid.
’Maybe they are inside the house.’ Erika thought to herself. She looked up at the house.
While walking towards the main entrance, Erika noticed a few surveillance cameras installed around the house.
"So she’s worried about her safety, huh?" Erika wondered out loud. The ground was tiled with clean tiles and it seemed it was mobbed every single day.
’Her maids must be seeing stars to have to clean the tiles every single day,’ Erika thought to herself.
She would have loved to admire it but there was something who lived in that house that she wanted to teach a good lesson.
Finally reaching the main entrance, Erika took a deep breath before she raised her hand and hit the doorbell. She had to press it a few times before she finally heard a familiar faint voice from the inside of the house saying,
"I’m coming."
The smirk on Erika’s lips widened even more before she cracked the knuckles on her hands, getting ready for a fight.
The door finally opened with a creaking sound and the head of a woman with black hair peeped out. Her eyes widened when she saw the person at her doorstep and the scene from their last encounter appeared in her head.
"What are you doing here, Erika?"
"Oh hi, Jennie!"
