Chapter 397: MAKE UP LUNCH
Ethan did as he said. He didn’t let Erika go until he started to notice her body grow weak. She has exhausted her energy.
"Let me explain. She came here without any notice and tried to convince me to transfer the properties to her name. I didn’t want to agree. That was what she was whispering in my ears. She was trying to threaten me by saying she would kill you, Luca, John, and Jake if I didn’t do as she said so I was trying to control my anger. I will never cheat on you, Erika. You need to believe me."
Ethan blurted out in one go. The words flew out of his mouth in haste, as if he wasted any more seconds before he explained himself, she would probably explode and leave him to burn to crisp.
He decided to look at her face.
Erika had stopped struggling but that didn’t mean that the tears had stopped pouring into her eyes.
The tears simply poured and poured uncontrollably. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
Ethan felt like a dagger had been stabbed into his heart since he was the reason she was that hurt.
He grabbed her chin so that she could look at him. Her blue bored into his black eyes and they simply stared at each other before Erika parted her lips to ask,
"Did you have a relationship with her before?" Erika asked and Ethan felt like his world was going to crumble if the wrong word flew out of his mouth.
Erika was a smart woman and she already knew the answer to that question.
She was only asking because she wanted him to prove her wrong and Ethan knew that. But unfortunately, he was going to tell her the truth.
"She’s my ex-girlfriend," Ethan said. He waited and waited but Erika didn’t react to his reply.
"Did you have a deeper relationship with her?" She questioned and patiently waited for his reply. "Do you still love her?" She added.
Instantly, Ethan shook his head. "I don’t love Jennie. You are the one that I love, Erika. You are the love of my life, the mother to my children," he replied.
He got the same expression from Erika. No reaction at all from her.
Ethan sighed before he continued
"Jennie and I studied the same course in Spain. We were classmates until we became a couple. We started well but she became overbearing. Too bossy and acted like she owned me so I broke up with her a month after I graduated and came back home." He tried to explain.
"She thought she owned me and she thinks I betrayed her only because I didn’t get married to her," he added as he waited for a reaction from Erika.
Finally, he got what he wanted.
Erika smirked before she said,
"I should have slapped that mouth of hers and left her with a few bruises before I kicked her out of this office. I was too lenient on her."
Ethan heaved a sigh of relief before he pulled her towards the sofa and made her sit down.
"How are you feeling?" He asked her with worry evident in his voice.
Erika glanced at him before she tore her eyes away from him.
"Regretful. I overreacted. I’m sorry for the way I behaved just now," she said. "I just didn’t know what to believe anymore when I came in here and saw her whispering in your ears like a snake. Husband snatcher," Erika spatted out which earned her a slight chuckle from Ethan. "I knew you were hiding something from me and I thought that you both were once exes," she added.
"I’m sorry." She scouted towards Ethan and hugged him. "I overreacted, I’m deeply sorry," she apologized.
Ethan heaved another sigh of relief as he patted her head slightly.
"You scared me there." He muttered.
Both of them sat in silence before Erika moved her head away from Ethan’s chest and asked.
"Is she still giving you trouble at work? If you want, I will find where she lives and get rid of her for you. Who does she think she is to try to steal my husband? I’ve gotten rid of many kinds of her and I won’t bat an eye before I get rid of her too," she promised, ready to fight.
"You don’t need to do that," Ethan said. Erika raised a questionable eyebrow at him, then he proceeded to explain. "I’m going to buy her out in her very own company," he winked at her.
Erika stared at him in confusion.
"What do you mean by that?" She asked, wanting to understand what he meant but Ethan didn’t explain any further.
"You scared me today with your outburst. You must make me a delicious lunch as an apology," he said.
Erika simply stared at him, still trying to understand what he meant but he didn’t leave any clue on his expression.
But since he seemed calm and confident about his new plan to buy Jennie out of her own company, she decided to simply trust him and hoped he’d be able to do so and get rid of her. But she will have her fun with Jennie first.
A devilish smirk pulled up on Erika’s face as her mind drifted away.
"What are you thinking about?" Ethan asked her when he noticed she wasn’t listening to what he was saying he wanted to eat for lunch.
Erika came out of her world and looked at Ethan.
"You wanted something?" She asked.
"You cried so much that your eyes are still red," said Ethan, cupping her face. He placed a soft peck on her lips before he continued. "I want you to make my lunch for nearly giving me a heart attack this morning."
Erika smirked before she responded. "You were the one who gave me a heart attack for letting that woman come close to you. Don’t let her come any closer than three feet." ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
"Yes mam," said Ethan. "Now, lunch please."
