Chapter 396: DEVASTATED

"Goodbye mum," the boys said to Erika as they waved their hands, meeting with their friends and interacting with each other.

A car honked behind Erika and she drove out of the school property.

On her way home, her thoughts continued to bother her since she last met with Jennie.

’Does she have a past with Ethan? Why didn’t he tell me anything till now?’ She wondered as her hands found their way to the necklace that Ethan had recently bought for her.

It’s been two weeks since Erika met with Jennie and since that time, she couldn’t get herself to ask Ethan what pass he had with Jennie.

All of a sudden, she shook her head.

"He’s not cheating on me." She suddenly declared. She had stylishly asked Felix if he knew any Jennie Wilson and that was when she’d confirmed that Jennie was Ethan’s coursemate when he had left the country to go study in Spain.

Felix knows this since both he and Ethan studied in the same school and country.

But other than that, Felix didn’t have any other idea why she would want to destroy Ethan. Something was missing and the only person who could answer her questions was Ethan.

Parking the car in the street, Erika tried looking for her phone and when she found it, she dialed Ethan’s number and stared at the screen as if she was in a trance. Her thumb hovered above the screen as she contemplated if she should him right away or rather wait for him to come back home.

For the past two weeks, Ethan had been coming back home earlier and he’s mentioned that things were going great in the company.

Sighing heavily, Erika threw her phone on the passenger’s seat.

She closed her eyes and flashes of how Adrain and Felicia would touch each other right in front of her appeared.

’You will always be a fool, you will always be cheated,’ the voices said in her head.

Erika’s eyes flickered open and she sighed again.

"I need to get answers before I start jumping into assumptions." She told herself.

She ignited the engines of the car and drove towards the company. She could have waited for Ethan to arrive home first but curiosity was biting into her skin too much and she needed answers as soon as possible.

Erika entered the building and no one dared to stop her. Everyone knew she was the boss’s wife so everyone that came on her path did nothing other than greeting respectfully.

When the elevator dinged open, Erika inhaled and exhaled before stepping out of the elevator.

She passed Peter’s cubicle and found it empty. She frowned.

Erika’s eyes nearly fell right out of their sockets when she opened the door to Ethan’s office.

In the office, Jennie was whispering something in Ethan’s ears while the latter stood still. No movements at all.

When Ethan locked eyes with Erika, he immediately pushed Jennie away, with so much force that she ended up landing on her butt, hard on the ground. The force was far stronger than when he pushed her back when he was in her office, in her company.

Erika stared at Ethan in bewilderment. She couldn’t believe what she had just witnessed. Tears brimmed in the corner of her eyes but she tore her gaze away from Ethan and it landed on Jennie who was still on the floor.

Dropping her bag on the ground, Erika kicked her heels away and rushed towards Jennie, pulling the latter’s hair which in turn forced Jennie to stand up.

"I don’t know what you came here to do but I will deal with you later," Erika promised as she continued to pull Jennie’s hair.

Jennie yelled in pain but Erika didn’t pay her any mind and continued to pull her hair, even harder until she reached the door and kicked her out.

Erika locked the door and faced Ethan with red eyes.

"I want answers and you’d better not lie to me, Ethan." She told him and he could see from her facial expression how serious she was.

"First of all, we weren’t doing what you think we are doing," he started.

"Prove it." She ordered.

This was the first time she was doubtful about Ethan cheating on her. They both had started on the right foot. He helped her defeat her enemies and she couldn’t believe she was doubting his loyalty towards her.

"Tell me what she was doing here and you’d better speak loud and clear for me to hear because I keep hearing the voices telling me you are cheating on me!" Erika yelled out as tears fell from her eyes.

Ethan’s mouth opened and closed and no words agreed to fall out to pacify the confusion. He was trying to find the right word to use.

He knew she was hurt. He could see it in her eyes. Her face was flushed red and she looked devastated. This was the first time he was seeing the side of her, this fierce side of her that he was scared of.

Without saying a word, Ethan walked towards her and enveloped her in a tight hug, wrapping his hands around her. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

She struggled and refused to be held, refusing to be pacified.

The reason she didn’t walk away after seeing what she saw was because she wasn’t the old Erika anymore who was weak. She was Ethan’s wife and she had the right to kick any bitch that tried to steal her husband from her. And what she wanted from Ethan at the moment was to explain himself and the kind of relationship he had with that woman in the past.

But her emotions had gotten in the way and she believed she had overreacted. But for some reason, she can’t seem to calm down. Despite being hugged tightly by Ethan, she still couldn’t calm down and only kicked him, trying to get him to leave her alone.

"Get away from me, Ethan."

"I won’t."
