Chapter 67: Chapter 67: Apologize to Her
The whole group stormed toward room 6602.
Inside the hospital room, the two kids were hugging Mrs. Kane’s legs, while Mrs. Kane had Cecelia Archer by the collar, relentlessly demanding an explanation.
Mr. Kane was the first to burst in. Seeing his wife causing such a scene with his former student, he lost his usual refined demeanor for the first time.
"Sophia West, who told you to come here? What are you doing?"
Hearing her husband’s voice, Mrs. Kane finally stopped, instantly redirecting her anger toward Mr. Kane. freewebnσvel.cøm
She let go of Cecelia Archer, forcefully shoved the two children aside, and stormed toward Mr. Kane, raising her hand to slap him.
Fortunately, Damien Vaughn, who was standing nearby, anticipated her move and caught her by the wrist.
Mrs. Kane gritted her teeth. "So you heard I was hitting her this quickly? Rushing over to be the hero? Silas Kane, you really are a ’good man,’ aren’t you!"
"If I hadn’t come today, how long were you planning to hide like a coward? Until your son grows up and gets married? Until I die? You’re so capable, having someone bear your children but not daring to make it public. What’s that about? Afraid I’ll expose you and you’ll lose your job and your precious reputation?"
"You’re old enough to be her father, yet you still do something this sordid! A man as shameless as you is still afraid of losing face?"
"It just so happens everyone is here today. All of Kane’s students and colleagues, right? Come on! Everyone, take a look! Look at this woman and these children!"
She forcefully wrenched her hand free from Damien Vaughn’s grasp and pointed excitedly at Cecelia Archer and the two children.
"This is Kane’s little mistress and his children! This shameless man went behind my back, behind everyone’s back, and raised a second family on the side! Everyone, come and see!"
Not only did the group from the conference room rush over, but even the nurses from the nurses’ station came to see what was happening.
The moment Mrs. Kane’s words fell, the crowd erupted in discussion.
"What? So the child is hers and that man’s? I thought... Incredible. She has a whole group of handsome men fawning over her, young and old. It’s unreal!"
"I can’t even tell which one is her man. Why are so many men obsessed with her? I’m so jealous!"
"What’s there to be jealous of? He already has a wife, and she’s still eager to bear his children. If you were that shameless, you wouldn’t be short on men either."
Director Hill had known Mr. Kane for half his life and had never heard of something so scandalous happening to him.
Seeing his wife’s confident accusations, Director Hill was also stunned.
"Kane, you..."
It was all so absurd. Mr. Kane was so angry his hair was practically standing on end.
He had spent half his life teaching students, healing the sick, and saving lives. He had always lived an upright and honest life, doing his duty conscientiously. He never imagined that his lifelong reputation would be ruined by his own wife!
"Sophia West, have you lost your mind? Do you have any idea what you’re saying?"
Mrs. Kane sneered. "Of course I do! How could I have cornered you wretched pair so perfectly without concrete evidence?"
As she spoke, she pulled out a DNA test report and threw it in front of Director Hill.
"Look what your good friend has been up to! It’s written in black and white. Are you still going to deny it in front of everyone?"
Director Hill’s hands trembled, but before he could grab the report, Mr. Kane snatched it away.
A quick glance was all it took. "What the hell is this? A test you had done on me? And it was a match? This is ridiculous!"
He slapped the report into Director Hill’s hands and looked grimly at Cecelia Archer.
"Cecelia Archer, why are you here? What is your relationship to these two children? Tell me what’s going on!"
By now, Cecelia Archer understood everything.
’Someone must have deliberately incited Mrs. Kane.’
She didn’t answer Mr. Kane. Instead, she patted Annie on the shoulder and told him to go to Shane Grant.
Annie was furious that this crazy woman had hit Aunt Archer and he hadn’t been able to help.
He ran over to his dad with his arms outstretched, and Shane Grant picked him up.
He said to Shane Grant indignantly, "Dad, you’re finally here. This woman is a lunatic! She said I’m a bastard that Aunt Archer had with her husband, and she kept trying to hit Aunt Archer. I couldn’t even stop her. I’m so mad!"
’Dad?’
Mrs. Kane looked at Annie and Shane Grant with a confused expression.
"What did you call him?"
Annie shouted at the top of his lungs, "Dad! He’s my dad! Listen up, you crazy lady! I’m Shane Grant’s son! You’ve accused the wrong person!"
"You..."
Mrs. Kane was stunned for a moment, but she quickly recovered.
"Well, well, Cecelia Archer! You’re really something else! Two kids, two different fathers? You people really know how to have fun!"
"Couldn’t you find another woman to have children with? Is she the only woman in the world who can give birth? Teacher and student sharing a woman to be the mother of their children? You’re all disgusting!"
Cecelia Archer thought that with Annie calling Shane Grant ’dad,’ the misunderstanding would be cleared up. But Mrs. Kane’s train of thought...
Mr. Kane nearly died of anger.
"Absurd! It gets more ridiculous the more you talk! You’re being completely unreasonable! That’s enough, stop making a scene here and go home! We can talk about this when I get back!"
Mr. Kane tried to grab his wife’s hand and pull her home.
But after causing such a huge scene, why would Mrs. Kane back down now?
"No! If you don’t make this clear to me today, one of us is going to die here!"
"Silas Kane, even if the boy isn’t yours, what about the girl? Do you dare say she isn’t yours either? Then what about this DNA report? Tell me, go on, tell me!"
How was Mr. Kane supposed to know what was going on with the DNA report? He was rendered speechless by his wife’s accusation.
With so many people watching, he knew he’d be torn apart by gossip if he left without an explanation. He could only turn to Cecelia Archer again.
"Cecelia Archer, you explain. Whose child is this? Have the father step forward! I’m your teacher. We haven’t been in contact for years, have we? For a farce like this to get out... isn’t it the most ridiculous joke in the world?"
A huge crowd was gathered at the door, and all eyes were on Cecelia Archer.
’They’re my children, so why do I suddenly have to explain myself to so many people?’
At this point, she couldn’t say she didn’t know who the children’s father was, but she also couldn’t reveal who he *really* was.
After a few seconds of speechless frustration, she was about to say: ’They’re my own. If Mrs. Kane doesn’t believe me, we can take samples right here and do a new test. It has nothing to do with Mr. Kane anyway.’
Before the words could leave her mouth, Shane Grant walked toward her, still holding Annie.
He crouched down, scooped Candy up with his other arm, and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Cecelia Archer.
"Professor Kane, I don’t mean to be rude, but it seems your wife is having some mental issues. Her mind isn’t working right."
"Since the son is mine and Cecelia Archer’s, the daughter is obviously ours too. Mrs. Kane, how could she possibly be related to your husband?"
"I don’t care if someone is stirring up trouble behind the scenes or if you’re having a psychotic break. You have indiscriminately slandered my wife’s reputation and physically harmed her in front of all these people. I demand you apologize to her immediately."
