Chapter 1150: Chapter 1150: Relationship Exposed
The shop closed early, and after the staff finished tidying up, they gradually went home.
Not long after, Janelle Tollman received a call from her mother.
Arthur Sutton just heard Janelle say to the person on the other end of the line, "Mom, you all eat first, don’t wait for me. There’s a bit of an issue at the shop today, I might be home later."
"Yeah, just leave me some food, it’s fine."
After reminding the kids a few more things over the call, Janelle finally hung up.
By this time, the workers fixing the display cabinet had also arrived.
After checking it out, the workers said that if they worked overnight, they could have it done by tomorrow.
So Janelle decided to stay and get things sorted out, avoiding any delays for opening the shop tomorrow.
"Mr. Sutton, it’s likely going to be a late night. You go ahead, I’ll stay here and handle this."
Arthur Sutton checked the time on his watch and said, "Then shall we go out for dinner first?"
Before Janelle could answer, the two workers chimed in, "Yes, you go ahead, we are also waiting for materials to be delivered."
"Alright, have you two eaten? Why not join us for a quick bite at a nearby place?"
Faced with Janelle’s invitation, the two workers politely declined, sensing the situation, "No need, no need, we’ve already eaten. We’ll stay here to measure the data, so we can start quickly later."
"Thank you for your help, if anything comes up, just give me a call, I’ll be back after dinner."
"Alright, alright."
As the two walked downstairs side by side, Arthur Sutton joked, "Did your mother just call to get you to come home for dinner?"
Janelle nodded with a light laugh, "Yeah, she always says no restaurant outside is as clean as cooking at home, so whenever she’s home she basically cooks."
"It seems your mother has good skills, even Noah, that little foodie, is well taken care of."
Janelle seemed to sense that Arthur Sutton was testing to see if she was willing to invite him to dinner at her home.
But she hadn’t mentioned Arthur Sutton to her mother before, and bringing a man home unexpectedly seemed a bit inappropriate.
"Noah is just greedy, she likes to eat everything, pretty easy to please." Then Janelle pointed to a restaurant across the road, "Why not go there? We often go there for gatherings, though it’s just home-style dishes, the taste is good and it’s filling."
Arthur Sutton wasn’t too pushy, nodded, "Sure, let’s go."
Actually, the shop’s issues weren’t too complicated, Janelle could handle it alone, but Arthur Sutton still stayed with Janelle and helped busily until everything was done.
When they walked out of the shop, it was already past eleven, and most stores on the street had closed, with few pedestrians or vehicles around.
"Tonight has been too much trouble for you."
"I’ve told you many times, there’s no need to be so polite with me. Get in the car, I’ll drive you home."
Janelle was indeed quite tired after a busy day, yawning several times in the car, and even fell asleep during the ten-minute drive.
Arthur Sutton didn’t want to wake her, but the car had already stopped downstairs at her home.
He gently leaned over and lightly tapped her shoulder, "Janelle, we’re home, go inside to sleep."
Janelle suddenly awoke, glanced outside the car window, and smiled apologetically, "Haven’t ’worked late’ in a long time."
Arthur Sutton laughed gently, "Go get some rest."
Saying that, he got out of the car and walked around to Janelle’s side, opening the car door for her.
Meanwhile, Janelle unbuckled her seatbelt, stepped out of the car, and said to him, "Sorry to waste your night, you should get some sleep too."
"Alright, good night."
"...Good night."
As Janelle walked inside the building, she instinctively looked up at the floor she lived on, and found the lights still on, surprisingly, she noticed a shadow on the balcony.
Realizing what it could mean, Janelle quickened her pace into the building, already thinking about how to explain things to her mom later.
