Chapter 1149: Chapter 1149: Relying on Him a Little More

That day, Arthur Sutton, as usual, went straight to Janelle Tollman’s shop after work.

Unexpectedly, neither of the children were there.

"Mr. Sutton, you’re here again?"

The shop assistant greeted him warmly, and Arthur laughed lightly and nodded.

"Please go upstairs and comfort our boss, she’s been terribly upset."

Arthur paused in his movement to go upstairs and asked, "What happened?"

"A bizarre customer came to cause trouble, claiming that she had an allergic reaction from using our perfume. Our boss kindly offered to take her to the hospital for a checkup, but she refused to go, clearly intending to extort money. She was yelling and making a scene in the shop, breaking many things, and was just taken away by the police."

Upon hearing this, Arthur immediately went upstairs to check.

The ground was covered with perfume bottles, shattered pieces were scattered everywhere.

Janelle was standing nearby, head down, scrolling through her phone, seemingly trying to find a contact.

"Janelle."

Janelle turned her head to see him, and her brows, originally furrowed due to the troubling situation, relaxed.

Looking at the mess everywhere, she smiled apologetically and said, "With things like this, I won’t invite you to sit."

Arthur looked at Janelle with concern. Not seeing any obvious injuries, he asked, "Are you okay?"

Janelle shook her head and said, "I’m fine. Just that I might have to close early today."

As she spoke, she waved the phone in her hand and said, "I was planning to call the worker who installed the cabinets before, but it’s been so long I forgot if I stored his number."

Arthur glanced at the display cabinet that was broken beside them. As he pulled out his phone from his pocket, he said, "I happen to have a friend in this line of work, let me contact someone for you."

"Well, could you please help me contact them? I’ve been searching but couldn’t find the number. Just ask if they are available to come to the shop in the next few days."

Arthur nodded, quickly dialed the phone, and after a brief conversation, it seemed the arrangements were made, and he soon ended the call.

"He said he can come right now, take measurements, and have the installation done by tomorrow."

Janelle breathed a sigh of relief and smiled, saying, "Things seem to become very easy when you handle them."

Arthur put away his phone, looking at the mess on the ground, thinking about what Janelle must have faced alone, and yet she never considered calling him.

This made Arthur feel a bit frustrated because he thought their relationship had grown much closer over time.

He believed Janelle would rely on him a little more.

So, in response to Janelle’s slightly teasing words, Arthur replied seriously, "If you encounter troubles, try giving me a call."

Janelle’s smile stiffened slightly but she nodded and said, "I’ll remember to contact you in the future, if you don’t mind the trouble."

"Of course I don’t mind."

The cleaning lady came over with a broom to tidy up the floor, and Janelle said to Arthur, "Want to sit downstairs? Or do you have other plans?"

Arthur: "I have no other plans."

Janelle said to the cleaning lady: "Auntie, there’s a lot of shattered glass, please be careful while cleaning."

The cleaning lady laughed kindly and said, "Got it, you two go on and have your date."

Janelle glanced at Arthur awkwardly for a moment but then smiled casually at him and said, "Let’s go downstairs."

Arthur didn’t take the opportunity to joke about it, and he walked downstairs with Janelle, asking, "Why aren’t the children here today?"

"My mom took them to the park. Since you bought Noah a bicycle, he’s been wanting to go out and play every day."
