Chapter 1147: Chapter 1147: Ex-Husband

After Arthur Sutton had breakfast with the mother and her two children, he conveniently dropped the kids off at daycare.

As Noah walked through the school gate, he asked with hopeful eyes, "Uncle Sutton, can you have dinner with us tonight?"

"Of course," Arthur replied readily, then glanced at Janelle Tollman, adding in a low voice, "If your mom is available?"

Noah was so happy clapping his hands that he didn’t even hear the last part of Arthur’s sentence, then took his brother’s hand and cheerfully followed the teacher to the classroom.

Janelle returned to the car, and without the kids around, her alone time with Arthur was always a bit awkward.

Fortunately, the school wasn’t far from the perfume shop, and Arthur took a call on the way, discussing work-related matters nearly the entire ride.

It was clear that he sacrificed some work time to spend time with them.

Arthur smoothly parked the car in front of the perfume shop, and as Janelle unbuckled her seatbelt, she said, "...Thank you, sorry for taking up so much of your time."

Arthur smiled and asked, "So... does Miss Tollman have time tonight?"

Janelle was momentarily confused before realizing Arthur was referring to having dinner together.

She nodded, chuckled lightly, and said, "I do."

Arthur: "Then, see you tonight."

Janelle waved by the car and said, "Okay, go get busy. See you tonight."

After watching Arthur’s car leave, Janelle turned and walked toward the store.

As soon as she turned, she saw the employees inside pretending to continue their work after sneaking peeks through the glass.

As Janelle walked in, the employees were all gossiping, "Boss lady, how does it feel to have a handsome guy drop you off at work?"

"Could it be that you’re living together?"

"Oh my, boss lady, you’re really full of surprises."

Janelle couldn’t handle everyone’s teasing one after another and blushed, saying, "Get back to work, everyone!"

Amidst their knowing laughter, Janelle hurriedly went upstairs.

The assistant followed her up and, entering the changing room with Janelle, said while putting on her uniform, "Boss lady, is that Mr. Sutton your ex-husband?"

Janelle froze completely: "Ex-husband?"

The assistant laughed and said, "Don’t play dumb with me. Chase looks so much like Mr. Sutton; we’ve all noticed. What’s going on? Are you planning on remarrying?"

Before Janelle could answer, the assistant added with a regretful look, "Ah~ though I also like Mr. Sutton, what about Mr. Archer? Maybe... I could reluctantly take Mr. Archer off your hands?"

Janelle rolled her eyes, "Can’t you think of something serious for once?"

The assistant playfully grinned, "Aren’t life’s major events considered serious?"

Janelle didn’t respond and, after putting on her uniform, headed straight for the workroom.

The assistant, still with a cheeky grin, followed and inquired, "I’m not joking now, just honestly tell me, are you remarrying?"

Janelle lowered her head to clean the tools beside her and softly replied, "He’s not my ex-husband, but he is the kids’ father."

The assistant was stunned for a moment: "What do you mean? You had kids out of wedlock?"

Janelle: "You could understand it that way."

The assistant: "Then isn’t he an irresponsible jerk who abandons his wife and kids?!"

Hearing the assistant’s string of phrases, Janelle frowned slightly and quickly explained, "No, he’s a good person; he just recently found out about me and the kids."
