Chapter 1142: Chapter 1142: Don’t Spoil Her Too Much
Audrey Sutton spoke somewhat to herself: "If he did something wrong, it was certainly unintentional. Don’t take it to heart."
Janelle Tollman’s expression became increasingly awkward, but she understood the meaning behind Audrey Sutton’s words.
Surely, she must have heard about their relationship from Arthur Sutton.
After Audrey Sutton left, Arthur Sutton went upstairs, uneasy, to find Janelle Tollman.
"... Is there anything you need help with?"
Janelle turned her head towards him at the sound of his voice. Even with a mask on, the faint hint of a smile could be seen in her eyes: "No need. Besides, you haven’t learned about these things before and don’t understand this type of work."
"That’s true."
Janelle lowered her head and continued to focus on her work. From the corner of her eye, she could see Arthur Sutton still standing beside her. She tried hard to find a topic to speak about, but after a while, she still couldn’t say a word.
The atmosphere froze slightly, and Arthur Sutton finally asked: "Did my sister say anything inappropriate just now?"
Janelle’s hands paused for a moment, then she lightly shook her head with a smile: "No, she’s very cute."
Arthur Sutton breathed a slight sigh of relief: "Let’s have dinner together tonight. Noah mentioned wanting to eat steak when he got back, so I’ve already made a reservation at a restaurant."
"... Okay, maybe it’ll take about another half hour. Why don’t you take the child there first? I’ll come find you once I’m done."
"No rush. I bought some snacks for the kid on the way back. They shouldn’t be too hungry, so we’ll wait for you."
Janelle smiled and said to him: "Noah is quite the foodie; don’t spoil her too much."
Seeing the smile spread across Janelle’s face, Arthur Sutton felt the weight in his heart lighten.
Although Janelle hadn’t agreed to be with him yet, at least for now, it seemed she didn’t reject him.
He nodded in agreement, let out a soft laugh, and said: "Okay, I’ll be more mindful in the future. I won’t disturb your work any longer, we’ll wait for you downstairs."
"Alright, I’ll be quick."
Watching Arthur Sutton’s figure descending the stairs, Janelle’s mind was flooded with thoughts.
In her child’s life, there had never been a male role like this.
She was sure she could give her child enough love, but she couldn’t fulfill her child’s desire for a complete love, the kind that comes from a father.
Noah had mentioned this topic to her more than once. Though Noah’s understanding of the father figure wasn’t mature, it wasn’t hard to see that the child longed for a complete family.
As things stood, Arthur Sutton could play that role.
Putting aside the still unstable and immature emotional factors between the two, he was at least considerate towards the child.
"Boss, Mr. Archer is here."
Reminded by her assistant, Janelle came back to her senses and noticed Wayne Archer’s arrival.
Clearly, Wayne Archer must have run into Arthur Sutton downstairs before coming up.
When he spoke, Wayne Archer didn’t immediately ask about Arthur Sutton. He greeted Janelle as naturally as ever: "Still busy?"
Janelle smiled gently and said: "Almost done. Didn’t you mention there was an exhibition tonight? Why did you come over?"
"It starts at seven. There’s still time to have dinner with you all before going."
Janelle’s movements froze for a moment, and she spoke somewhat awkwardly: "Mr. Sutton has already booked a restaurant... do you want to join us?"
Even though Wayne Archer had already anticipated it when he saw Arthur Sutton downstairs, hearing this news confirmed from Janelle, he couldn’t help but press down the corner of his mouth.
"Are you with him...?"
