Chapter 57: The Poison Plot Pt. 1
Kathy laid on the ground twitching for a full five minutes as Fate and Amara sat together, enjoying a quick snack of fruit wine while waiting for Kathy to wake up from her legendary burn.
After a full five minutes, Kathy suddenly awoke, jumping to her feet and looking vigilantly around her as if searching for the person who stole her favorite piece of cheese. Her nose even began to twitch a bit. Amara and Fate were unsure if this was caused by Kathy being some ancient descendant of the rat people, but Amara decided to make it a bet with Fate.
She picked up a piece of very fragrant cheese and threw it directly at Kathy. Kathy suddenly smelled something delicious in the air and caught it on instinct. Before she knew what she was doing, Kathy found herself nibbling on this excellent food as if it was the first time she had ever eaten something like this. Kathy’s nose even twitched as she ate her cheese.
Amara slapped her hands together and said to Fate, "Ha ha, Fate, you lose the bet. Kathy is related to the rat people. Looks like you have to pay up."
Fate grumbled and pulled out a platinum crown, handing it to Amara as he said to her, "Damn, how was I supposed to know that my insult was actually true and Kathy is a descendent of the rat people?"
Sensing a potential conflict, Amara said to Fate, "Don’t worry, Fate, I’m sure that the lovely Grand Duchess Catherine Primrose is not in any way related to the rat people like this gold digger."
Fate knew that was true; they were just giving Kathy a hard time. He wasn’t actually worried about that. But Catherine Primrose is one of his harem targets. She is a woman whose beauty could cause the downfall of nations. The only reason the king has not made a move on her is that she has too much accumulated wealth and military power.
Looking at Amara and smiling, Fate said to her, "Amara, I’m not worried about that. Rather, it would be a lot of fun to meet the Grand Duchess. I’m sure she will show up in my territory soon enough."
Amara nodded her head. That’s right, Ruby mentioned to her that the Grand Duchess will soon be coming to Valoria to meet her sisters Ruby and Amara and evaluate Fate just like she did. With this thought, Amara became excited for the future. She and Ruby needed help in the bedroom to handle Fate; their last desert party took a lot out of both of them.
By this time, Amara had finally finished her cheese. Then, as if sniffing something else in the air, Kathy smelled money. Kathy looked around her with her sharp gold digger eyes, and then her eyes spotted it: a platinum crown that Amara threw on the ground for her entertainment. Of course, it was not the one she won from Fate. Amara still needed this platinum crown to gloat to Ruby later about how she got Fate to give her something. Ruby is going to be so jealous.
Kathy, seeing this platinum crown, looked up at Fate and Amara with a sly look on her face. Noticing that Fate was busy playing with Amara, she pulled out a handkerchief from her waist pocket and threw it on top of the crown. Amara said out loud to Fate, "Oh no, will you look at that, I dropped my handkerchief. Let me just retrieve that." Then, under the eagle eyes of both Fate and Amara, Kathy jumped over to the spot where her handkerchief was and picked it up in an incredibly practiced manner.
Kathy smiled; with this, she would be able to send several elite assassins to come and kill Fate so that she could inherit everything he has and then turn it over to the prince. He will then marry her and help her deal with her mother.
If her plan to poison Fate fails Kathy felt better knowing that she now has other options.
Fate smiled at Kathy and decided to continue their conversation. He said to her, "Kathy, I’m glad to see you got your handkerchief back. How did you enjoy your cheese?"
Kathy jumped in fright at the mention of the cheese. Her neck cracked as she turned her head to look at Fate with a hate-filled gaze, but she quickly hid it, like a proper gold digger. That’s right, Kathy admits it: she is a gold digger. But so what? She has her sights set on the crown prince, not some momentarily wealthy Duke.
Putting on a wonderful smile, Kathy said to Fate, "Fate, why don’t we enjoy a drink together? After I had my snack, that wonderful cheese left me a bit thirsty."
Amara, hearing this, gave Kathy a silent thumbs up. This girl has some thick skin on her since the last time she met Fate in front of Bloomspire Academy. Fate thought about this and nodded. He wanted to see what Kathy had planned. He was positive, as the paranoid person that he is, that Kathy wanted to poison him to death. But what she does not know is even the worst poison is just like water to him; it’s harmless. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
Fate smiled, then said to Kathy, "Okay, Kathy, let’s go ahead and have something to drink. Follow me to my dining hall. You will have to excuse the mess, though; it has been used a lot in the last few days."
Kathy nodded and followed Fate to his dining hall. Kathy wondered when Fate’s home became so big and why it was all made of Black Obsidian Marble with gold and jewels on every wall. This kind of showing off of wealth was just a waste. Why not spend the money on her, his fiancée? She could use a few more guards or a palace to stay in while she lives in Valoria for school. Recently, the housing market in Valoria has been on the rise thanks to a mysterious group of real estate merchants who showed up out of nowhere and have been selling high-end homes while dressed in various shades of red. All of the foreign nobles have been rushing to purchase homes from them due to the new school year starting at Bloomspire Academy.
They arrived several minutes later at Fate’s dining hall. When they entered, the room was spotless, making Fate say, "Oh, it looks like the maids have already been in here to clean up from desert last night."
Amara had a deep shade of red show up on the tips of her ears from this statement. Then she reached out to give Fate a good pinch. "Ow! Ow! What did I do, Amara?"
Amara pinched Fate even harder and said, "Fate, you little devil, you know exactly what you said. Hmph!" fгeewebnovёl.com
Kathy looked at Fate and Amara and wondered if these two could have done that here. No, that’s impossible. There is no way that any woman would sleep with Fate when they have an open invitation to the prince. Prince Nimrod mentioned he wants both Amara and Ruby to serve him. Kathy was an open-minded woman, so she did not mind this as long as she got to be his legal wife. Kathy suddenly realized that these two women must be working in secret on Nimrod’s behalf. They must have secret feelings for him, like every woman does.
Fate and Amara sat down together, but as Amara sat down on the hard dining room chair, she shot up as her butt was still stinging in pain from the previous night’s activities. Fate saw this and quickly grabbed Amara’s arm, pulling her to sit on his lap. As she sat on Fate’s lap, she could feel the heat of his body through her clothing. This rascal is still feeling so frisky after everything they did last night.
Kathy looked at Amara, now sitting on Fate’s lap, and could not believe her eyes. How can a woman who has such strong feelings for the prince act this way? But then it occurred to Kathy that Amara might be acting this way so she can report back to the prince about how Ruby and Amara actually want to join his side against this Duke but need his help to do so. Fate does have a lot of suspicious female guards around him lately. They could all turn out to be his slaves. As Kathy reached these absurd conclusions, it all began to make sense to her. No wonder she could not find any slave merchants in Valoria to acquire a few cheap servants from. Fate bought them all up as guards. Kathy has to report this to the prince if her assassination attempt fails.
Kathy sat down at the table as a female servant brought over drinks for them to enjoy. Kathy scrutinized this servant, and sure enough, this woman is far too attractive to be a servant. So the only logical conclusion Kathy could reach is that she is a slave. Kathy looked at Fate and said to him, "Fate, why don’t you let me pour you a drink as a peace offering between us?"
Fate nodded his head and said with a smirk on his face,
"Okay."
