Chapter 44: Taxes Paid In Blood Pt. 1

Fate looked at Nimrod and said, "Oh, look what the cat dragged in. Prince Nimrod, since you are also present, your father has actually illegally built a royal palace in my city without my consent or approval. So, you also owe me back taxes just like the church does. But now the church’s taxes are all paid off with that gold roof of theirs that somehow landed on the street, only to be collected by my sexy tax officials. It’s just you and Bloomspire Academy that still owe me money now."

Bishop Gary Oldman did not know why, but he suddenly felt hopeful that this plague would leave here in peace then. But his dreams were destined to be shattered as Nimrod said, "Fate, you bastard, you better give that roof back to the church. Even my father can’t afford to provoke The Church Of Divine Promises or their armed forces. Not only have you provoked the church, you also stole the storage pouch of Queen Nyssara Darkmoon."

When the gathered nobles and priests heard this, they all inhaled a deep breath. Everyone present knew how ruthless Nyssara could be towards those who steal from her.

Fate looked at Crown Prince Nimrod Bloodsworn and burst into laughter. "Bwuhahaha!" x 3

Nimrod looked at Fate and Ruby as they laughed at him. But then he noticed the presence of the raven-haired woman standing next to Ruby. Nimrod felt his pants suddenly become tighter at the sight of this woman.

After a full thirty seconds of looking at Amara in a daze, Nimrod did what he always does. He motioned for Maria to bring him closer to this mysterious woman. Then Nimrod said to her, "Hello, raven-haired beauty. My name is Crown Prince Nimrod Bloodsworn. Why don’t you call me Nimrod? If you need me to save you from the tyranny of Fate, then just say the word. He has already been cast out of the church and declared an abomination for mass murder. So, staying by his side is not an advisable risk."

Amara looked at Nimrod with a dumbfounded look on her face, wondering how this guy can go from accusing Fate of stealing a spatial pouch to hitting on her all in a minute’s time period. Amara smiled, showing her flawless white teeth and enchanting smile, then said to Nimrod, "Fuck off!!"

At this statement, Maria jumped back from Amara, still somehow holding Nimrod. This made Fate say to Maria, "Maria, you’re quite good at keeping ahold of people. I’m impressed."

Then Fate looked at Nimrod and sneered, saying, "Nimrod, you little bastard, you’re the one who took that spatial pouch from the treasury of Bloomspire Academy. Then you tried to rob my own treasury with it. But too bad for you, I’m constantly working on improving the security of Shadow Spire Citadel. So, your pathetic thief died in the moat of my citadel from a bunch of fish. I did not even mention the cheap coupon assassin you sent to interrupt my meal of fried chicken."

Nimrod had a shocked look on his face as he responded to Fate, saying, "How dare you accuse me of hiring a discount assassin to kill you. I will have you know that the assassin I sent after you was a freebie that I got from the Assassins Guild. Buy ten assassinations, get the eleventh for free. In fact, as of this moment, you better watch your back, Fate, because both I and Bishop Gary Oldman are now after your life. The only reason you are still alive is because I allow you to be."

Fate looked at Ruby and said, "Ruby, you said you wanted some interest, so go ahead and claim it."

Ruby smiled and responded to Fate, saying, "No, Fate, I have already had the pleasure of tormenting Nimrod twice, so this time it’s Amara’s turn to enjoy some payback."

Nimrod heard all of this, then he panicked, calling for help, "Help, guards, help! Where are the church guards?"

By this point, Bishop Gary got tired of standing around watching these kids fight in front of him. So, he waved his arm and eleven of the priests around him suddenly pulled swords from their waists. Then they proceeded to surround Fate, Ruby, and Amara.

Fate frowned at this turn of events and said, "Bishop Gary, you just paid off your taxes from the last attempt on my life. Are you sure that you want to repeat the same mistake again?"

Bishop Gary sneered and said to Fate, "Fate, you have been condemned to die by the church not only for the mass murders that your subordinates carried out on your orders. But now you dare to deface the house of the goddess Vespera. Today is the day you die. You will never make it to see a single day of classes at Bloomspire Academy."

Fate shrugged his shoulders and looked at Ruby, saying, "Ruby, these guys are clearly making shit up. Why don’t you and Amara go ahead and deal with them as you see fit. If things are going to get any better for me, then perhaps it’s time to shed some blood. I’m growing tired of everyone thinking I’m a pushover."

After this statement, several dozen maids and paladins appeared to surround the Bishop and his soldiers, with Nimrod and Maria by their side. It seems as if Dimwit and his father Bruno feared being involved in this mess, so they slipped away a while ago. But those two did not escape the notice of Ruby and Amara.

Nimrod got nervous as Maria held him. Where the hell did these maids with attitude and paladins reeking of evil come from? Nimrod looked at Fate and said, "Fate, you dare to surround us with your sexy female guards?"

Fate, already annoyed by this entire trip to the church, said to Nimrod, "Shut up, Nimrod. The only reason I don’t kill you is because I still have use for you. Don’t think that your father can help you either. In my city, his laws mean nothing. Ruby, go ahead and kill them, but leave the three idiots alive. I don’t care about the guards."

Ruby pulled out a mysterious wire from the gloves on her hand and held it between her fingers. Amara pulled out a giant mace that was stained red with the blood of her enemies from her back. Ruby used her garrote wire, sending it flying into the air towards her first target. The guard used his sword to block the wire heading in his direction. But suddenly, he lost sight of Ruby. Before he could find her, the garrote wire hit his sword and wrapped around it.

The man smiled in satisfaction as he was able to stop this mysterious wire. But in his moment of triumph, Ruby transported herself using shadow magic, appearing in the shadow of this guard to stand behind him. Catching the man off guard, Ruby pulled the wire now wrapped around his sword. His sword slipped from his grasp and then...

*Swish*

*Squelch*

"Ahh!" freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

The guard’s sword impaled his neck, coming out the other side. Then a fountain of blood shot up into the air. The guard fell to the ground as Ruby pulled her garrote wire free of the man’s sword. As she did, his head separated from his neck. The sword that killed its own master was flicked through the air by this powerful pull from Ruby. It traveled in the air for a moment, then found a new home inside the left eye of another guard as he collapsed onto the ground. The guard said out loud, "But I did not even get a chance to show off."
