Chapter 28: Kathy Primrose
As Fate walked the streets of Valoria, he looked around and smiled. He could tell that crime had drastically fallen since he could not see any homeless on the streets of Valoria.
As Fate kept walking, he noticed the distinct absence of slavers on the streets. This made Fate wonder what had happened to them. Those damn slavers were like maggots that multiplied on the carcass of society.
Since they were nowhere to be found, Fate decided to ignore the fact that they appeared to be absent from his city. The fewer slavers running around, the safer his beautiful guards would be.
Those slavers were well known to target very attractive women who traveled alone.
Fate went to check on the development of the new homes in the poor area of Valoria, commonly referred to as the slums. When he arrived, Fate was not sure if he was in the right place.
Standing in the slums, Fate felt like this place should be called the suburbs rather than the slums where poor people lived.
"What the hell happened to all of the garbage on the streets?"
Fate had asked Ruby to make new homes here for his poorer citizens. But this was just ridiculous. How did these trees get planted on a road that was once all dirt but was now made of stone?
These trees looked as if they were at least twenty years old. The homes were not just new; many of them even had white paint applied to them to make them look more attractive.
The weirdest thing of all was the inconspicuous bits of red that appeared subtly on every home. It looked as if all of these people shared the same favorite color.
But little did Fate realize that all of the "poor" people living in these homes shared a far deeper obsession with the color red than Fate knows.
Before Fate could think too deeply on the changes in this area of Valoria, he saw Ruby walking down the street, ready to join him.
Ruby rejoined Fate after several hours of being absent from his side. She now had some bloodstains on her hands. freewebnøvel.com
Fate winced at this sight. That loser assassin probably suffered terribly at her hands.
Fate, being the kind man that he was, used some harmless fire magic to burn off the traces of blood on Ruby.
Ruby jumped a bit when this heat touched her body, but she noticed that it made her feel relaxed. The blood from her recent "education session" seemed to disappear.
Ruby remained silent as she followed Fate’s lead.
"Ruby, let’s head to Bloomspire Academy and check out their situation since they are no longer receiving any tax breaks or financial support from me."
Fate walked the streets, enjoying the clearly improved public safety and cleanliness standards. With no homeless around, crime had noticeably plummeted. Several minutes later, Fate walked onto the massive campus that Bloomspire Academy occupied. This place honestly bothered Fate. How could a school take up so much damn premium land in his city?
One of his ancestors must have been a complete idiot to allow this school to be built here. Even if Bloomspire Academy brought Valoria tremendous wealth, Fate was confident that he could do the same on his own.
When Fate arrived at the entrance of the academy, he saw that all of the students were looking at him and pointing him out. Then, as he came near them, they ran away.
Fate saw many kinds of girls here, like cat girls and wolf-kin girls. There were even elves from various nations. These girls were all nobility, no doubt, but not his cup of tea.
Fate preferred women, not girls, so none of the girls here interested him. Considering his reputation for being ruthless, something he did not want to change when it came to nobles, the only girls who would try to get close to him were those after his life.
The only people with whom Fate wanted to change his image were the poor and disenfranchised. If the poor were happy, he did not need to worry about any sort of commoner rebellion in his territory. The normal commoners in his territory actually lived very well compared to other territories in Westridge, so they were not a concern for Fate.
After going through the front gate, Fate was shocked to see someone who should not be here yet since classes at Bloomspire Academy had not started. His nominal fiancée, Kathy Primrose, the arrogant and uptight fiancée that every reincarnated villain needed to deal with.
Looking at Kathy, who stood just inside the gates of Bloomspire Academy, Fate wondered if this world was conspiring against him again, or if this was just the work of Prince Nimrod.
Kathy Primrose looked at her fiancé and saw that the rumors of him running around with an older, scantily clad woman appeared to be true. freewebnovёl.ƈom
Kathy Primrose considered herself beautiful with her long black hair and brown eyes. Her chest may not be anything compared to this maid’s, but she still had room to grow.
Stomping her foot in annoyance that Fate Grimsever had not greeted her yet, she stood in this spot on purpose so that she could block this loser’s way. Fate was nothing compared to Crown Prince Nimrod Bloodsworn. He was a true man.
With a dissatisfied look on her face, Kathy Primrose looked at Fate and said, "Fate Grimsever, how dare you not greet your fiancée when she is standing in front of you. Don’t make me tell my mother, Grand Duchess Catherine Primrose, about your behavior. She won’t let you off lightly."
Ruby, standing at Fate’s side, looked at him and said, "Fate, do you want me to remove this annoyance from your presence?"
Fate shook his head and said, "No need, Ruby. I was bound to see Kathy Primrose at some point."
This damn girl was such a troublemaker just because her mother was the legendary Grand Duchess. Or, as she was later known in this world, the Bloody Duchess. After Catherine was deposed by her precious daughter and her new main squeeze, Prince Nimrod Bloodsworn, Catherine was removed from her position and replaced by the easily manipulated Kathy Primrose.
Seeing Kathy here at this moment compelled Fate to have the desire to save a certain beautiful and extremely deadly Grand Duchess before she actually lost her noble title, even if no longer being a noble would not make Catherine or her followers any less deadly.
